To be fair, it does give you a reason to feel attached to asahi, and he did raise you from a young age. So you are implied to be close with him to some degree even though the game is bad at stating this. But leave it to megaten to come off too autistic to make you feel attached to characters you are allegedly meant to.

DeSu1 and DeSu2 are different universes.
There's literally nothing in common and I don't even think they reference each other at all.

The DeSu games seem to finish their stories nicely so they don't bother sequels. DeSu3 if they keep up the trend will also be a complete new universe and cast.

Anyway, DeSu2 is more of an SRPG and follows a more rigid mission style. SMTIV is more of a more traditional JRPG. A lot of it is down to personal opinion, I don't think either one is vastly different from the other in the ways your list.

DeSu is faster to play through if you know what you're doing and good at SRPGs. Probably 30-50 hours, it's also easier to pick up and play and drop at regular intervals due to the mission system.

SMT4 is longer especially if you go neutral.

To be honest though DeSu2 is more fun than SMT4 in my opinion so I'd recommend playing through SMT4 first.

I still think mag MC is better, because with almighty skills you know for sure that you can fight every enemy on the map with your mc.
I know there is a skill that lets you use phys based, but those are pretty late game and with mag you can also hit weaknesses.
All in all I know str is very good in DeSu 2 multi strike is pretty much a party wipe, but I still think you can do way more shit with a mag MC than with a phys MC.

In DeSu's law ending, not only will solve the super natural crisis, you also move on to fix the problems of the worlds, without eliminating free will or something (like the characters explicitly talk about lower crime rates and how they feel much more secure and peaceful now). In the Chaos ending, the super natural crisis is solved, and heaven's forces won't be a threat to Earth anymore, but nothing is really done about the "real" world, which is pretty much left the same as before after Abel leaves with his demons to face the heaven's forces elsewhere.
