Is it ignoring the magic and the lightning damage because fire is higher?

Your target has flat defenses,
Typically in PVE, flat defenses are close to 100 in each category. In PVP, these can average more like 150.

If flat defense is > raw damage, then the damage gets reduced to its minimum value. The minimum is a % of the raw damage. Currently, the exact % for minim damage is not known.

Lets say, for the sake of argument, minimum damage is 10% of raw damage and your target hasa 150 flat defense across the board.
So that 112 physical in pvp becomes 11 damage
That 106 magic becomes 10
That 229 fire becomes 79
And that 106 lightning becomes 10
And you end up with 110 damage

That's a worst-case-scenario involving numbers pulled directly from my ass, but hopefully it illustrates the point. Split damage is damning because it increases the effective defense counted against your damage.

This is why split damage weapons tend to have above-average AR, but it rarely compensates for this penalty. If a split damage weapon is buffable, it's important you take advantage of this and buff it with one of the elements it already has, so as to maximize its damage and hopefully deal more than the minimum damage against your target.

Poise in DaS3 is shit, yes. But hyperarmor is poise. Saying otherwise is just being delusional at this point. Your webm doesn't matter because you still aren't understanding how the (needlessly convoluted) system works.

Even with 0.01 poise, they would still need to get about three hits on you ahead of time before their next hit could stagger you out of hyperarmor. They have 30 seconds to land that final hit before your stagger resistance resets to 100.

Technically speaking, poise actually works REALLY well in DaS3. So well, in fact, that the vast majority of people mistakenly think it's true hyperarmor.

average pyro combos do at least the same damage at 5 times the range of 2 greataxe swings so the only real complaint you lodged is that it's limited by how much FP you've got
an actual pyro build has anywhere from 4-7 spells attuned which is the same as how many different moves you're reasonably going to use with a weapon (r1, r2, WD, WR, etc.)

I can reaction roll it, it's really not a mixup. Let's say I was using a fast weapon like CCS which can't be sight parried on reaction, and I'm twohanding it so I've got the R1 (parriable) and the L2 (unparriable) available. If my opponent doesn't know which one I'm going to throw out, that's a mixup. However, if my opponent can just wait for me to throw it out, that's likely not a mixup.

You can wait for bursting as well. He's right to say "you don't roll [or at least, don't have to roll] until you see the fireball leave the opponents hands." Citing exploding bolt crossbows as an alternative free aimed long range punish is also a completely valid point.

His usage of it is still arguably pretty bad, he keeps using the same spell like it's a good idea (in spite of the fact that he's arguing that it isn't). Though on the contrary, you've only got so many slots, which filters back in to the stat complaints.

It's also retarded that he didn't use CBV at all, especially since he was complaining about GCFO. Especially considering that he picked up on melee attacks being comboed off of black flame. However, while he underrated it, it's still overrated; you have to start up your CBV cast for that far earlier than an R1. It's like pressing R1 twice before either hit connects, then hoping you'll get the first one through so that the second doesn't go punished. You can't react to your opponent being hit by serpent, you need to cast it before contact occurs. You can't even hold the cast and release on contact or anything like that either, like a heavy R2.

No, just recognize all the safe parries you can take (they roll straight towards you) and take them then roll away upon failure if you want to play like that. Don't just play parry roulette blindly, look for when it's loaded in your favor. If you've got over 160 stamina, you can roll away after partial parrying the butcher's knife (tested on mildred, I'd imagine SS and curved consume equal or less), but you should just get your timing right.
