Can we have a thorough discussion and analysis on why there's relatively so few Falco players despite arguably being second to Fox in the tier list? Like the number of top-level Falcos I could only count on one hand, and of those Falcos only Westballz has the commitment to play him through the entire bracket. Is the differences between Fox and Falco a bit more subtle and nuanced that I'm not noticing?

Nah, GC controller is too convenient and standard. Smashbox requires a ton of getting used to plus its gonna like $100. I'm not even sure it'll find its own niche of people.
If properly utilized though it seems like it could be really cool and interesting. Theres also some matches of PPU using it at the Foundry, just browse through some his recent foundry sets.

Falco operates on a similar tech skill level but is arguably a more straightforward character (there's counterplay to his lasers, pillars combos are more rigid and reliable to get out of unless you're Westballz vs Fox bair/nair mad-libbed combos), and has flaws like struggling to kill against floaties or a gimpable recovery.

Hmm. What adapter are you using? Follow the netplay controller setup guides and you should be good. I used to have a problem where my C-stick wouldn't do aerials in Dolphin, but I found out that was caused by having Dolphin open and then plugging my controller in.

Yeah Melee does have a little bit of buffering but not quite like what a Smash 4 player (I'm guessing) would understand.

For example, holding C-stick during shieldstun can buffer a roll in either direction, which allows you to escape shield pressure at maximum frame efficiency (which sometimes makes the difference).

Other shit includes moving your control stick to the left or right during your landing lag to set up a shield drop angle, or moving your control stick up to get an uptilt in situations where you can't jump.

Yes, Falcon's combo game on Marth is really good, make sure to counterpick FoD and just wall him out, most falcons wants to approah with short hop nair but Marth's nair can usually beat it or at the worst trade and Falcon's recovery is so awful Marth has an easy time getting low percentage kills.

Play very patiently on the whole because you don't need to set up into constant long combos like other characters do, you can take stocks off only a few openings if you play your cards right.

As a Marth main myself this MU is cancer as hell. Fair is actually your best friend over Nair in this matchup (though Nair can keep him from spotdodging and running a train over you in neutral and stuff) since short-hop double Fair is incredibly hard to get fast. His dash dance is straight up better than yours considering from how far away he can come in with a Nair on your commitments, so don't play dumb. You either want to be max distance away, bait him into flying into you, reading it and capitalizing on it with a grab or an intercept, or you want to be right in his face with your sword boxing him in/out and off the ledge.

Practicing with another character will help you get the feel of the inputs required, but doing it with Ganondorf if you plan on playing Ganondorf is your best bet obviously.

Different characters have different jumpsquat times, and if you practice wavedashing on a character who jumps 3 frames after you hit the button (Fox, Sheik), it can feel off and weird when you transition to another character who jumps after 5.

Apparently Ganondorf's jumpsquat is 6 frames long so you actually might just want to start there because that's way off the average, which is 4 or 5.

I play falcon and marth is one of my favorite matchups

as marth you have to tech chase with down throw, stuff falcons approaches with tilts or space correctly so that he flubs. Stomp doesn't cover nearly as much ground as you would think and nair is usually spammed so its predictable where it will be.

You have to wall him out with fairs and tilts and rack up damage from grabs to lead to free edgeguards basically

If you put something on your face to obscure it you'll draw attention but most other players will probably be into it and think it's in good fun. You can probably also ask the streamer to move the camera away from you if it's a small stream. Ultimately though if you're scared about showing your face on stream nobody will care who you are unless there's something very unusual about you. PS everybody makes weird facial twitches when they play in case you're paranoid about that.

As in you draft the playable characters, in turns. Thus, both teams get to see what the enemy is going to be playing before the matches begin, through a series of picks and counter-picks.

After the drafting phase, each team assigns each of their crew members to play one of their picked fighters, thus ordering them into a queue.

Since you make your picks preemptively, visibly, and are committed to them, this makes character matchups even more game-influencing in the long run. Thus, there should be ways to influence the order in which the enemy team will face your picks.

Let's say team 1 picks fox as their first fighter, and then over the course of the drafting phase team 2 cleverly lines up several fox counters in a row. If the player playing Fox wins a set, he will be given the option to "tap out" instead of facing the next opponent in the enemy's queue. If he taps out, he swaps positions in his queue with an ally, and the enemy team is given the option to take a reactionary tap out. Thus, a winner can "escape" a bad upcoming matchup, and hopefully put a teammate better suited to the matchup on the plate, but the enemy can also swap to prevent this tactic from being too one-sided.

Naturally, there would have to be a strong limitation on how many times tap outs can be used.
