You might want a couple of the regen ones, I forget what the highest version is called. You also want a few of the bows that are the magic equivalent of skullsplitters. In addition to the silver weapons, I like to have one version of the upgraded form e.g. trident from silver spear. You may run into a situation where you need the AoE, like for weekly challenge. You'll want to get yourself some Demon Chronicles. I find 4 works for me, as I generally have two pinser initiators who need to run a heal otomo because they're otherwise 1 phase attackers. Elemental resist and status ward shields are useful as well - you want the highest version that is still a proc so that you can be invulnerable to that element/status effect. You'll also want to keep a few of the upgraded shadow rod that is +20% hp, which is better than defense or magic defense boost otomo.

You kite/ignore them until your 4-star is able to kill them no problem. You should only have one other girl in the party who you can switch to if things are getting too dangerous for the main, but main priority is making sure your main doesn't die so she gets exp.

There's no harm in doing lower difficulties until she can handle harder ones. Also if you're failing and don't want to waste a ticket, close out the app without finishing the battle.

Exp seals are also a thing, they're in your items if you have any, but newbie sources for them are kinda slim.

Also starting tomorrow is a rerun of last year's Halloween event. Clears have been reset but I don't think there's points to grind, and only one gem reward on clears it seems.

So the pre-event gacha is up, 1 new UR, 1 new SR and two new(?) HRs. As expected, these cards increase event points acquired during the event, here's the specifics:

UR gives 18% boost to event points when put in the deck. SR gives 12% and HR gives 6% bonus.
Auto-evolving/limit breaking increases each card's event points boots by 3%(UR), 2%(SR) and 1%(HR) for each dupe.

It sounds okay on the paper. Maybe I underestimate the whales but 18% doesn't look like a huge advantage over other players.

Sorry I'm bad at math, but are you suggesting that somebody whales 10 copies of each card? If so then I forgot to mention one thing: you can cap the cards only 6 times maximum.

Now when I think about it maybe I got it all wrong. Maybe one UR gives you 3% event points boost and if you cap the card 6 times only then it starts to give 18% boost.

Just finished translating all of her talk and touch events if anyone's interested.

It seems that there are few variations of how a girl can respond to any touch/answer, but it doesn't affect the (Bad, Good or Perfect) result, only changes the resulting text, so I didn't include all of those because I haven't seen half of them.

Sure Merc Storia isn't /mbgg/ material, it's bland, has bad rates, has no voices but if it wasn't for that 'Minasama, best anime game ever' maybe people wouldn't treat it like 'that one meme game'.

All that considered I'm more frustrated that Happy Elements has pretty neat writers, composers and artists at their disposal but it feels like everytime they come up with a game, the idea goes like this: 'It has a lot of cute girls, comfy music and nice overall designs! Yeah, kind of a shame. I played the JP version for a little bit, though I had dropped it long before Best Anime Game came out.

I didn't even mind the rates that much, since I managed to get a 4* and let that carry me through most of what I played, and generally forgot 5*s existed. Not that I could recommend that as an actual strategy, since I didn't get all that far.

And yeah, between it and original Ensemble, I go into every HE game expecting cute characters and not that much gameplay. Still wasn't enough for Last Period to hold my attention until events, though.

I played Merc too and I rolled my first 4* a month later after I started playing. What got me to drop it is that I realized that the game is very unbalanced in terms of classes.

Every time I watched a video of people defeating event bosses, it was basically one 'tank' character with lots of hp holding a frontline, and a team of ranged-multihit characters, maybe some healer. It feels logical if you think about it, but there are too many melee classes who are just there and can't compare to tanks. They don't live long enough to deal damage, they have no role in the game. 'Assassins' or such don't really work in Merc Storia.

The only use of those classes I found was setting one sanicfast character to quickly clear the dailies up to the 'goal' mark.

I also didn't like how events worked back then(not sure about now). If I remember correct you had 10 story stages on two(or three?) difficulties. Each stage cleared awarded you with a star. You got an event 2* character for 5 stars, and the next character was somewhere around 15 or 20 stars. Which was just impossible unless you had a powerful team.

Haven't been in these threads for a while and the current set of games is worse than ever. Autofest and nothing else. There is Shadowverse, but I'm not ready for another card game after Hearthstone.

Its pretty normal on my phone?
Its a bit slow and lags sometimes but my phone is an ancient phone with a custom ROM to get around the android 4.2 restriction. Outside of that, its pretty playable and runs a lot faster than BGHS, Shironeko and/or Shadowverse which is surprising.

Have you tried disabling animations and lowering the quality to see if the lag improves?
I don't lag in battles at all after disabling battle animations for faster battles so you should try this. Even if you don't have performance issues, you should still do this when you want to mindlessly grind something.

I'm trying to see if I can write a short guide since I've been enjoying this a lot a as a side game. Has a stamina system but pots are super easy to come by and I've actually gained pots by spending the few pots I had on the event.

From what I've learned, here's some stuff to keep in mind when you're starting.

- Do story, you can get a guaranteed 3* ticket from here and a bunch of gems.

- If you have a Fire 3* or 4* then consider making a fire team with your best fire girls. It doesn't even matter if they're 3* or 2*. I just started a few days ago and I've been able to farm tons with this team.
If you have the time, team and patience to do it, aim to get the free 3* from the event and buy 9 green head things to max LB her (First LB is 3 and second is 6).
If you cant afford it then just spend on pots for the next event.

- Climb floors in the Virtual tower with your strongest team til you get walled and cant advance anymore

- Do PVP every time you have BP available with your strongest team. The two buttons at the bottom refresh the list and the other one shows the sub members they have so find some easy prey and collect a free win. You get a guaranteed 4* ticket at PVP rank 10 so you want to start working on that as soon as possible.

- The 3* in the event will always be useful for the next one so since this unit is Green, that means next event will be water element and you'll need a Green team for it.

- Try to always hit weakness if you can or at the very least, avoid getting fighting your weak elements. (Fight Grass with Fire and don't try to fight fire as water for example). You deal more damage and take less damage so you always want to abuse weakness if your team allows you to.

- Prioritize getting your girls to affection level 6 o you can equip more subs. Training gives a lot of affection but takes real hours to do it. You can rush it with items for quick affection but you can also let it sit there.

Here's a rough WIP with starting out tips. I don't know a bit of Japanese but I've been able to find my way in the game pretty easily so I don't think there would be any issues with the menu or the game features after poking around and exploring the menus for a while.

The one thing I should also point out is that gems don't fall from the sky here like in BGHS where you can roll tons and still have enough to roll future gachas several times so you'll have to practice self control and good resource management here. But don't get me wrong, there's still a bunch of gems to collect and you'll be able to roll on stuff as a F2P, just don't expect to be able to roll on every single gacha as a free player. I feel like this is standard on a lot of mobages but still needs to be pointed out for people that might expect something similar to BGHS since both games have a ton of similarities.

Yes, people cheating in this barely-even-a-game kind of miss the point and don't expect just how profits will explode over time. Once you reach Potion Maker's endgame, it's pretty easy to make potions that sell for amounts nobody can even pronounce. It's not like that gold count goes on for a dozen of digits beyond that, I just barely broke the display to see if and how it happens if you manage to do so. One of the few things you can really do once you've got everything unlocked aside from bullying Tia in a new costume every 2 weeks.

Here some event specifics:

-There are total of 14 event stages.
-We always have 10 turns each stage
-New tension mechanic during the event: Depending on your tension by the end of the stage you get to 'fight' different kinds of requests.(normal, big, extra big)
-Clearing event requests awards event points and may award items and event cards(I'm assuming SRs are included)
-Each event request always costs at least 1 BP, unlike story ones, and increases in difficulty each time you clear it. The higher the difficulty, the bigger the reward.
-If you take more than a certain amount of BP to clear your current request then the game considers this and lowers the requests difficulty by 1 next time you encounter it. Conditions are: Normal - 3BP, Big - 4BP, Extra - 6BP

Hammer > Gun/Rod (Autoload) > Spear/Sword
Hammer can brute-force its way through enemy resistances better than spear or sword can and also takes care of annoying enemies quickly.
Blade cannon is nice but slow, basically needs storm and high damage attributes.
Dual Bullets requires constant repositioning but is good for co-op bosses.
Transform beats all of them if you can get the charged attack timing down right.

This also depends on what kind of 4-star cards you have and if you manage to get the broken weapons out of weapon gacha. Weapons used are not a basis for deciding whether or not to reroll, since you'll want access to all of them.

Wait for a weapon set to get an idea of what's good or not in it.

That was using the simulator and cheating to make sure all the HG actives work all the time optimally even if it's impossible to make a formation that does it.
Compared to just a normal party with 2 RF activation on the HG.

Maybe this thing will actually be of some use somewhere. "Only" takes 7 copies to max one of those darn O2s during events like these, after that it's only 150k exp left to L80. For that much work, they could at least give additional stats.

The way HG just stat together is insane.
With 2 offensive buffers on 3 RF do the chip sim faster than an offensive 1 HG+2MG+2RF party
With 3 offensive buffers and all skills proc'd in the first second 2RF does it in half the time of the above party

Too bad rifle activation tiles are so limited. t92 3x3 when.

2 evade HGs is basically running 2 SMG in a party so the damage hit is expected. Unless one of them is referring to Grizzly which who is a massive damage buffer. Then again with Grizzly and M9 my PPK gets splattered a lot more.

With all these level ups, I'm getting some serious burnout from this Ensemble Girls event.

I made it to 8k points, and I feel like I can't do this event at all anymore, because god damn this is one boring grind.

I'll keep going through the main story because at least I was enjoying that. But if this is going to be the standard for how the is going to do events, I unfortunately can't see myself playing it for very long.

Sounds like the first ranking event in that Mahouka game.
Took 10 minutes to run and only 10 stamina. You got 20/hr. Next ranking event they upped it to 20 and only took 2-3 minutes a run.

What bothers me even more than the p2w aspect of it, is how fucking boring it is to grind the same stage again and again.

I've done the 7th event stage so many times that a quick glance at the first line of a touch event or chance time dialogue is enough to know what the best answer is, and yet I'm not even at 1% of the way to getting the UR card.

Yeah, Ensemble's not a "grind out all the event rewards and be done" game like BGHS.

It's a "grind the event as much as you can/are willing to, stock up lots of items, and every once in a while spend all those items for a UR you want really bad" game.

That's also why Newspaper Club is relevant. Not super efficient, but it does give you a way to get URs and strengthen your team outside events and 1.6% gacha rates.

The total damage is much lower (one hit is ~30% higher depending on your bases) and I've seen it wipe 3 waves a couple times. Not even close to Yukata Sadone.
Also for better or worse it's a medium circle that is frontal.

Unfortunately the game really manages to shit on its players with most of the event mechanics.
I've been waiting for the renewal for a long time and didn't expect anything new. It got a really nice visual updates and features, seiyuus and got rid of iap-only gacha system, but devs still decided to keep the jewish spirit of the first generation mobages alive.

Aside from the complains voiced above, there's one thing I personally find strange and miss from the old version:
You could actually get cards while doing 'requests' even outside of events. Those were normals and rares mostly, yeah, but you got them, and acquring those cards gave exp to your leader card. There were also milk bottles which gave huge chunks of exp too. They were hard to come by, but you got them.
Did they 'balance' the game by removing them because they got a free player-friendly gacha now? Probably. But that's really a stupid move. At least before you could steadily level up your desired cards, and now the only way to get many exp points in the pool is to roll the premium gacha.

That said I'll still be playing the gameAt least until the new PriConne or some other decent game with waifus gets released, definitely not for events, but rather for character unlockables, voices and stories. While Ensemble Girls is a rather poor 'game', it's still a relatively fun visual novel with good art.

I'm used to the Dengeki rankings and interpret S+ as really good. I forgot that this guy's rankings go up to SSS, so Kurumi's rating is pretty misleading. And for that matter, Yuri and Kaede must be super hot garbage then. Will Yuri ever get a good card? Even her birthday card is one of the worst so far.
