I agree for Frenzy, but not Apex. Frenzy made the monsters more aggressive, but knocking them out of it gave you free hits, and you had the pressure of dealing as much damage as you could before they turned back. That, and the free affinity from overcoming the virus made the whole thing satisfying. Hyper really fails to pull that off.
That said, Apex seemed unnecessarily hard. It could have made Mind's Eye finally useful to some extent for something that is not Silver Los's head, but no, they pushed the bouncing mechanic to a stupid end. The monster already hits like a truck, no need to punish the players for being average.

The problem with Apex is how people think they're normal content.
NO you can't bruteforce through them, this is THE problem here with Apex : the players.
Apex REQUIRES you to learn how it works and how to fight the monster, they're the latest game in the whole series, but obviously they had to make them look like regular end game.

But honestly? As an experience? They're the most satisfying thing in the series, they're really fair (Excluding Diablos and some 140) and lots of fun.
They teach you how the game is meant to be played and once you do they pose no threat, at least the mechanic doesn't.

No, it isn't. There's a 12% raw difference between blue and white sharpness. Take Hellblade weapons, which have natural white. They have 200 raw, which makes the difference between blue and white about 24 raw, which is almost Attack up (XL).

Consider also that Razor Sharp makes every point of sharpness have double the efficiency. Pair that with Absolute Readiness, which recovers about 10 points of sharpness IIRC, and you have 20 more attacks on white every time you use that HA. On most weapons that means infinite white, which pays off better than mere 10 raw from AuS.

That said, weapons that are sharpness hungry like DBs and CB might benefit better from Attack Up from the mere fact that you won't get the infinite white from the RS + Readiness combo, but I dunno.

Any raw skill ends up contributing more to damage than Artillery Expert, but you still can have fun using Load Up + Art Exp + Dragon's Breath + Felyne Bombardier + any attack skill you can get with Long or Wide shots shelling-focused fighting.

Normal is fine too, but with Load Up Long and Wide get better boosts because of how single shells are stronger in these shot types. Even their full burst is almost as strong as the Normal full burst because of that skill combo and the shell power difference.

For anyone saying "Gens a shit" and "Gens is ded", try Adrenaline solo huntan. It gave the game a fresh air for me, since I started a new solo file.

Hunting the invading flagships sub-20 is cool. Rekin monsters and only having to carry herbs and sometimes potions to the hunt is really simple and comfy.

It is pretty easy compared to anything before. People bitch about Hypers and some advanced quests, but even that doesn't really stack up compared to other challenges in 3U or 4U.

Still a fun game nonetheless, I think styles and arts gave a fresh air to the usual gameplay, I just wanted it to be more polished and explored than it is. As of now it feels like a beta for a future game, considering some styles are way too good and some are way too bad.

Why do we recommend Fighter cats when literally every action builds gauge quicker on an assist cat?

What utility? All you're doing is tossing boomerangs. Fighter cats naturally get Piercing Boomerangs, an innate skill that Assist cats can not get and it stacks with Big Boomerangs. In the long run you'll always be doing more damage with a Fighter cat.

That doesn't make any sense. Traps cost 4 gauge (3 with the Trapper skill), meanwhile Fighter cats need 3 in total for both Big and Piercing Boomerangs to stack just to shit out damage.

Utility is okay but it's not necessary. Gauge building isn't a factor when you only need minimal meter for two skills.

you can get away with that probably, but in any case, they'res more than just normal shots.
You can go elemental LBG, pierce HBG, swagcannon (don't, though) status/trap/explosive spammer LBG.

Basic bowgun skills for raw (Shot) type up.
Weakness exploit for normal, and to a slightly lesser extent pierce.
For elemental, (Element) +2 and Elemantal atk up stack now, so that's your go to, speedsetup is my favorite for status gunning but some people might argue that, and of course status+1. (Not +2, specialist actually makes up for the skill more with just +1, it's complicated)

What would ya'll recommend for a varia suit+arm cannon X set, focused on dazzling shots?
I've got the base two skills (Hotblooded, Blightproof), raise hunger (which doesn't matter) ammo saver, and bonus shot.

I can replace either of those with trueshot up (probably bonus shot) while still keeping full varia+some options of waist.
