Hmm... Gauss, two PPCs, three medium lasers with MASC? The corner peeking hero? Really risky since you need XL engine for that sort of getup, but with MASC you can avoid most of the incoming fire... until someone instantly cores your gauss side torso and you get to watch it blow you up that is.

Other than that there's always 3x LPL 2x ML with a fuckhuge engine for MASC abuse and loadsaheatsinks.

50% heat generation off clan ERPPCs would be fucking fantastic (pinpoint fire and forget clan pulse lasers? yesplz) even if the lack of jumpjets would make this mech really rough to utilize it.

But, considering it's a clan vehicle, PGI will most likely only give it marginal set of 8 quirks like velocity and missile cooldown and be done with it.

also the energy hardpoint locations for the side torsos look to be in the dark crevice just below the cockpit, making this things dead on arrival status cemented in stone.

You can't do strafing runs only if you're slow, which the Linebacker is not. But that's not how it would work best; it would work as a line fire support mech. Not the kind of ECM sniper that tries to be alone to avoid attention, but a mech that sits just behind the front line of the death ball and can just keep firing non stop at enemies who don't have the time to react.

Basically a supercharged PPC Adder, exactly the same thing played exactly the same way except with the two superqwerks I suggested.

Even with 50% heat gen, you'd only be able to fire those PPC's like... 5-6 times before you have to take a long break to cool down with those 4 extra heatsinks you can afford on the lamefaggot.

Unless your targets are dumb enough to stay at long range, you'll get rushed down and crushed.

It's a clan vehicle after all, it'll most likely not get the sort of quirks to afford it actual agility.

Firing line shootouts happen all the time in public queues. The amount of time spent in cover already spreads out that cooling period. Less heat faster recharge means more shooting when it counts, that's it.

In all honesty the KDK3 wouldn't be such a problem if the second set of ballistic were placed below the initial ones, or if PGI hadn't gone full retard and given it the ability to mount 4 ballistics. Just 1 in each side torso and some more lasers in the arms would still have enabled it to be a really good hill humper sniper or brawler with dual UAC/10's/ 20's.

The hardpoints should be irrelevant when you're comparing a medium to considerably heavier heavies. Piggy's problem is various game mechanics like how heatsinks work making heavies and assaults massively undergunned compared to what they should be. Weapon cooldowns are way too fast compared to heat dissapation rates. On top of that it's the dual uac10 hunchback that does the big damage.

Consider as an example that a huelander with capped xl engine, quad erppcs and full heatsinks has 30 dubs, which means it should be able to constantly fire it's weapons for an infinite length of time standing still on a heat neutral map. Even with erpccs having less heat than they should and on a cold as fuck map it's nowhere even close. Assault mechs shooting unlimited quad erppcs nonstop sounds like a pretty fucking different game than what we have now.

So you just conveniently ignored the "when they aren't shooting at you 1on1" part. It's so easy to hit components on the huge upper torso.

If it didn't have 4 ballistics, it would be just an another shitass clan assault that can run maybe 1 or 2 builds and can't play around with it's loadout at all.

The new Frozen City is actually pretty good, as long as it's not domination or conquest. Those modes totally fuck everything up by putting an objective into the most lethal area on the map.

If it's just skirmish or assault there's going to be combat at all ranges, because it's fairly easy to cross over to the other side through the edges and there's no obvious complete superiority position where you can set up a firing line that can overwatch the entire continent. If you poke your head out on memelands or try to cross the massive coverless deathzones on alpine piss, everyone will immediedly zero in your dark silhouette on white snow and bukkake you with alpha strikes. The two sides are set up far enough from eachother that even the longest ranged weapons can't hit across the valley for full damage, but can still do some damage. There's a lot of LOS blockers and cover that protects against lurms on frozen city so crossing over isn't that hard, and the way the buildings and cover are set up internally in the two highgrounds allow both medium range and brawling. As an added bonus it's one of those maps that doesn't punish low mounts nearly as bad as a lot of the other maps, which I like because some robots have less of a bullshit meta advantage on it. Also there's no random visual clutter, overcomplicated geometry, random assault-waist-high shit to get stuck on and invisible walls, and the lighting conditions are always good which is great.

At first I hated the fuck out of the map because it felt like polar memelands 2 electric boogaloo, but when people figured out how to play it, it became one of the best ones in the game (discounting the gamemodes that completely break it). Somehow PGI managed to make a map so good it had to be on accident, it's playable with anything from spls and srm bombing to extreme range sniping.

The nascaring doesn't work the same way on it as on other maps. It's hard to explain, but it's much harder to catch the end of the other team in a bad spot and if the other team has just crossed over you can't just run after them risk-free, because then they'll actually be at the only positions that make it dangerous for you to cross to the other side through the edges. That's what I'm talking about when I said they can't have made the map that good on purpose, PGI isn't smart enough to set it up so well. The shape of the cover on the edges of the high ground and the central moshpit are different from everything else too.

And Polar isn't good in any circumstances, even without lurms there are just so many spots that put you into the firing cone of the entire enemy team without any way to block LOS, and the whole map is just high mounted mechs abusing the hell out of their advantage and fucking asses all day.

Polar is great. The open map really brings out actual tactics instead of just shoving everything at a chokepoint.

It's let's lights do their thing, there's cover and open areas everywhere so you can pick and choose where to fight, and it supports both long and short range gameplay.

So question about Clan ERPPCs. Do they deal 10 pinpoint damage plus splash? Or do they splash 10 damage all over the components they damage?

I can't figure it out because I swear they used to be 15 damage. And the training mode targets don't seem to take splash into consideration on their damage.

I bought into it just because I like the devs. Right now the game is playable but it's rough. It's still very clearly in alpha and they say that. Don't expect it to be like a Steam game's early access alpha where there's an awful lot of content. Right now the game has the Gears in it and weapons and a couple maps. That's about it. It's fun to slide around on a map blowing people up for a little bit but the lack of content is something that'll keep you from playing it for a long time. If you're willing to throw money at the devs sure, otherwise wait till they've got more content to play with.

You can fire just as fast without a macro. Also, chainfire isn't the most effective way to fire.

People use them because they think they will make them better, but the reality is positioning and aiming make you better, not staggered fire. With mechs like the 5AC5 Mauler or 2UAC10/2UAC5 Kodiak you are alphaing with them, not chainfiring. With the 4UAC10 KDK you fire in pairs. Macros don't do anything in this game.
