It's not a "potential" 90% increase. That was calculated using gems that nerf your damage far more than the increase outweights it. Likely you're playing cluster mines if you want this buff.
Then you're dealing with 8 (+ whatever you get on the tree, not many usually) total traps potentially placed at any time. That's 45% damage.
If you look at Saboteur and the preceeding Trap and mine damage node it grants you 44% damage and an additional trap.

When we're talking limited increased damage we're not talking the stuff you get during early levels or on the tree. We're talking about mods on gear for instance. Spells get a ton of spelldamage/elemental damage on wands. Same with scepters. Traps can't always gain from those same stats. And the situations where you can (bladefall traps for instance) are often situations where the elemental penetration doesn't really give you anything.

How do map drops work? I thought you could only get maps one tier higher than the one you're in, but I just got a T11 from a T9.

It's clear Scion was an afterthought in ascendancy.
They designed all the other classes first since they needed scion to follow them thematically. They then couldn't really give her any of the cool perks this class system offers because they were all designed in isolation. So she gets weaker/chance based versions that don't work reliably and don't give you close to the same boost.

Imo they should design her to have completely unique specs for each of the classes. So it can fit thematically with say slayer without being related to the stats slayer gives.

I don't understand all the ES stacking CI builds.

I started one but even with most of the ES nodes I still only have about as much ES as I would have had life at the point where I am (mid-late Cruel).

I have about +1230 ES total on all my gear summed together because every rare has +flat and +local % rolls that multiply together to stupid values. If I were health I could only get like +700-800 at a reasonable price because all they can get is a single flat health roll

That said, it's quadratically more difficult to get 2 specific prefixes on gear than just one, so proper ES gear more rare, more in-demand, and thus more expensive than life.

Crit frostbolt totems with a ton of cast speed is pretty fun. Alternatively you can self cast with proj speed stacked and using a snakepit or two. Shadow for more base crit or ranger for for an additional projectile. The damage on frost bolt is actually insane and the clears are pretty great when you have enough proj speed and crit.

I think its worth taking EE with a fireball elementalist.

typical scenario while mapping : you regularly use orb of storm to proc EE, you also get 25% fire pen for 10 seconds, you hit offscreen monsters with your fireballs, those proc EE and they get +25% fire res.
its no problem since any build should not have any trouble dealing with trash, essentially here your damage doesnt change against those monsters.

now, against tanky rares and bosses which you usually see coming, you drop orb of storms for FREE 40% more damage and FREE 50% fire pen.

I mean fireball is just insane right now, the buff is ridiculous, I'm on a 4link with faster casting-CD-GMP, orb of storms - pcoc - increased crits proc EO constantly

I hesitated going occultist at first for the bonus meme points but Elementalist is just so good.
