I might rework his nose a bit 'cause it seems too light, but overall I'm pretty happy with the results.

I'm having second thoughts about his personality though. The few lines of dialogue I gave him don't really sound right (the only thing I know is that I kinda sorta want to base his speech on Mondo Owada - aka classic japanese delinquent.
Too bad the guy I'm using as a reference swears a lot and I don't think anything harsher than "hell" or "damn" would suit SDV.)

Sprite editing is a bitch.
The fastest way is probably to do the shirt in the first frame (the first pose), copy paste the central part (the six pixels in the middle, 'cause they're the same from one sprite to the other) and edit the arms separately, maybe mirror them.

The japanese/asian analogue in SDV is the Gotoro Empire (the guys Kent fought against), which could be the start of some interesting backstory for Robin and the Stardew Valley world at large.
Stuff like maybe the conflict with the Empire is a recent thing so Robin had the possibility of travelling before they closed the borders, or maybe Robin is actually a refugee from the Empire and no one (not even Seb or Demetrius) know about it.

For a more Western feel to the name some names that popped into my head are Sophia/Sofia or Stephanie.
I guess you could also look into how people say the name "Sebastian" in other languages and chose the female alternative, like Sebastiana (which is italian) or something.
Or go for the nickname path and let her be called Tiana.

Yeah, I'm having a pretty good time with it so far. I've seen some people say that this game is disappointing or doesn't compare well with Harvest Moon, but I don't think so at all. It isn't outright stated, but the general consensus is that the Ferngill Republic (where Pelican Town is located) is supposedly an analogue for America and the Gotoro Empire is one for Asia (especially the countries of China and Japan, which were previously empires).

It hasn't been confirmed from CA as far as I know though.

So, why did they add coffee beans to the game? Every plant gives you 4ish beans every 2nd day after first harvest. To make Coffee, you need 5 beans, meaning that you will need atleast 2 plants if you want to make coffee every 2 days. Then even if you brew your coffee, you only get 150g for it, compared to Pale Ale it's kinda pointless or am I missing something important?

I took Sam's portraits as a reference, but generally all I did was try to emulate CA's style.

I put Sam as a base to get the general idea of where the head and shoulders should be (though I made my character taller and with wider shoulders) and then I looked at some of the other characters for how to draw stuff like the eyes, the nose and the mouth.

Having experienced both perks I would say that the extra ore is better. Picking up double diamonds was nice early game but now that I'm at the beginning of late-game I am starting to feel the effects of not having enough Iridium. Mining an iridium node to only receive a single ore piece is extraordinarily painful.

Levels 55 - 65 in the mines. Use the elevator to travel between those two floors til you hit one that has a shitload of coal sprites. Just doing those 10 levels can generally give you decent coal hauls though.

As for the angry face, the first problem is that her eyebrows make her look afraid instead of angry. The middle part should be lower and the extremes should be higher.
