Build her tanky, with CDR and attack speed.
So in conquest start with Death's Toll >warrior tabi>BoV.
After that everything is situational, you will probably want to build something from the talisman item tree for the magical protection and the health and Qin or Executioner as your main offensive item.
After that just build the defensive item that are the most needed, you have a lot of option, don't forget to look into hybrid item like Ancile or Void Shield. Witchblade, Winged Blade and Ritual Dagger all give you attack speed and bulk.
You can also go stone cutting sword as your last item to go to sanic speed with your aura and have an effect that synergyse with your passive.
Amaterasu has really a lot of option for her build, so play with her, try to find what work for you, and try to counterbuild.

Holy fuck, someone asks about Amaterasu once a thread. Your build should look something like Bluestone - Warrior's - Breastplate - Witch Blade - Pestilence / Spirit Robe - Bulwark / Spirit Robe - Qin's. The attack speed from Qin's + Witchblade is great, you'll get your passive up very fast. Withcblade helps serves as a counter to specific enemy Solos such as Ravana, Erlang, or Osiris, as well as keeps the enemy hunter doing less to you later on. Take the pestilence if they have healing, otherwise Bulwark. You need one or the other for some health. Your CDR will be at 30% with Spirit Robe, which is all you need since you'll get the mana buff. Qin's does all the work for you in terms of damage. You really don't need anymore then it. If you feel like you can give up some more tankiness for damage, then SCS works well with her passive, and the standard Jotunn's (you'll be over capped on CDR though so maybe Titan's if not going Spirit Robe) or Frostbound or Executioner. As for the sustain, you have enough. Don't bother building any item specifically for healing. If you're facing a magical solo, obviously build magical define first. Consider ancile, Runic shield, and of course pestilence / bulwark.

She applies a debuff aura with her auto-attacks, her auto-attack chain is pretty decent, one of her abilities mitigates damage while also charging up a damaging attack based off of hits taken or given, another one lets her dash in and silence, and another ability doesn't even do damage at all.

What can we take away from this? You drooling neanderthal? Looks like she's meant to be in the face of her enemies, in the thick of a fight with the rest of her team. But she's clearly not ability focused.

So defense, attack speed, maybe a little bit of pen and cooldown, and something that will let you lock down an enemy with your autos, like frostbound.

Through all my matches today I went from playing damage to playing support/frontline. When I played damage my supports watched the match timidly and did not know that they needed to engage. When I played support my damage missed all their shots and decided to go back into the fight at low health, thinking that my peel was a setup instead.

No matter what role I play, everyone in the opposite role plays like a mindless drone. I don't know what to do anymore. I can't take smite today. I'm getting too fucking angry at people.

The increased damage is to make up for the fact that he can't get increases damage from his axe anymore. It's not a nerf, it's a lateral move.
The only buff he got is he can spin while crippled, and a huge nerf is removing the knockup from the ult. That's a really really big deal.

He's actually losing 100 damage. Having an axe down used to give 400+(150+20% extra damage), and it was changed to be just 450+120%, the damage is a nerf too.
