Lately (in just the last year or two) Microsoft etc has hit a lot of independent programmers with false positives for viruses. Unless they go through the tedium of appealing their code through proper channels, it will continue to be flagged. In Windows 10 there is at least a method to remove it from quarantine and allow it to run. Have had to do this for Ping's 3G Dex as well. In b4 botnet.

Did they change lance damage on mhgen? Feels pretty strong. I've been maining lance since the mhfu days. Using striker since it feels the most vanilla also because adept and arial seems meh.

Also, blunt lancing gives ridiculous raw damage with enraged guard up to 370ish which is kind of ridiculous.

I absolutely hate the tripple hit finisher. Should have kept normal tripple hit, with the counter hit being the drill stab. That being said, I didn't really use Lance all that much once I hit high rank. Fell in love with Aerial Switch Axe and spent so much time trying to get used to the Guard Points of the various CB styles, that I stuck with it. Full House LBG is also the greatest thing ever.

It is my opinion that the joust pretty unilaterally sucks except for the finisher itself. Until you play Striker in Gen where it AND the finisher get buffed to fuck levels and charge your arts super quick to boot.

And yeah, the xa sweep is basically your only super armor move in 3U. At least it does damage comparable to like, your third poke. Too slow though for normal use.

Your screen makes it obvious, it shakes/stutters a bit. I don't know the best term for it. Gaijnhunter actually has decent advice for this bit, I reccomend watching 3u through Gen if you want to really understand a particular weapon before using it.

I'm going to start with DON'T FUCKING USE PELLETS ONLINE, JESUS FUCK.

Shells have what's called a critical range where they will do optimal damages. Normals are about 2 to 3 rolls away where as pierce is further. Certain monster parts also have higher damage % based on shell type. This is the bible for Gunners. Gen lets you know when you've hit critical because the screen edges will shake indicating a good distance hit.

You need to know what your objective is what gun accomplishes that. Then you make the armor to enhance what the gun already has going or is lacking.
Does your LBG have High Recoil?
Use the suppressor and recoil down skill, this allows you to fire quicker and leave you less open after each round. Recoil 3 is a bit overkill and a huge slot hog, generally 1 is fine and you would use 2 for pierce spam or siege
Does your gun have low mags?
Use the barrage earing for load up +10 to increase the magazine of your bowgun. Less reloading means less time exposed to attacks.

Bowguns can also play roles like status or elemental. So status atk and element atk up are good armor choices. Sleep bombing is a VERY effective method in killing targets.

Internal ammo isn't that complicated:
Long is sniper mode you are basically vasily zaytsev.
Stone is basic shot.
Shrapnel is a clust but with pellets.
Force is high damage but with high recoil.
P. element is the elemental shot with pierce.
Dazzling is a high damage shot that has no critical distance so fire away.
All the internal ammo shots also get a boost with the haphazard skill that gives True Shot Up.

HBG's siege mode can lock monsters into place with the right skills, team, and shells. it still follows the crit range rule and it locks you in place, so knowing when to use it will be a skill you need to master. Sneak is a skill that can help with this however as it keeps the monster from targeting you.

Also don't use the LBG's explosive hunting art if you're going online either.

Has less damage normally than normal 2, but has a boucing piece that goes in a random direction, meaning that it's good to aim (for example) at seregios/s stomach with them/similar area, because when they bounce from there they have a very small chance of not hitting another part of the monster. I can't really explain it all that great, have to try it yourself.
Pierce 1, 2, and 3 have progressively more hits in them before the damage stops, but also do less per hit. Like, pierce 3 will always do more damage than pierce 1 if you get all 5 hits in, compared to pierce 1's 3 hits, and pierce 2 has 4 hits but IIRC it's been kinda janky since 4u so IDK about that one, but you wouldn't use pierce 3 on rajang, for example. it's too small/weak zones far too small to get all those hits in.
I have no idea about pellet, haven't bothered to remember something useless, you shouldn't use it in pretty much any situation except solo, though.

I'll give you dead eye, though. Extends critical distance, varies by shot type. Normal 2 hits from fucking a huge distance with it. (at least it did in 4u, haven't used it since, hasn't been as easy/useful.)

Why is being a lancer such martyrdom? No seriously, we're like the least likely to trip somebody but have the greatest likelihood of being tripped. Every time the monster goes down I try to pick the least occupied part of the monster to poke and I get gangbanged by huge fucking sweeps and spins from peeps with super-armor on all their shit like the duals and the axers and good ol' longsword.

This is true suffering, I just want to stay out of your way. Why? Why was such a tanky weapon like lance given so little super-armor? It seems like somebody using a goddamn lance, spear, polearm, whatever, would be bracing themselves constantly. So why are my knees consistently on the floor?

Unless you count this new fucking strikememe bullshit that I still use where charging all over the place is considered normal. Even then it's a straight fucking line that won't hit you unless some asshole decides to just charge right into you from off screen with laserlike precision without any consideration for your position on the monster I'm sorry I am not good with monster oh jeeze.

To be fair, once we knew the game was about some kid who rides baby monsters with a stone activated by the power of friendship (so since it's announcement), there should have been no expectations of this being particularly "dramatic".

At least blastblight makes more sense, they just retconned things like Teostra's powder to be explosive and it works. Also, slime itself is still unique to Brachy. I hope they can rework frenzy to be usable by other monsters, but the scaly/crystal thingy fits the Magala lore much more.

Malfestio being a frenzy source sounds nice. Confusion seems a bit superfluous what with frenzy and also Frontier's confusion status. I do think it was a strange choice for them to bring back Frenzy status for Gen but have the only possible sources of getting it be Gore, Shaggy, and a Hunter Art. I want to get into lancing. AE lancing I'll definitely try, but I don't want to be restricted to memes.

1. What's the general consensus in the 4 styles? I'm thinking of using both striker and guild. Adept seems cool but no counter guard is a letdown.

2. What are the skills that I should look into? Is evasion +2 required for evade lancing? How about mind's eye if bludgeoning? Guard and guard boost? Should I just stack damage skills like before?

3. What is /mhg/'s opinion on the hunter arts? They all seem good, but what should I leave out when running guild? Or should I just get one of the three and get AE?

Guild is legit. Triple-third-poke gets a bad rap. It has more delay you have to deal with but it feels meaty and you can also sub the counterattack for a quicker weaker option or just not finish your combo. I always wanted Lance to feel slower and stronger to tell the truth. Guard lancing outside of Adept is still dead so just slap that ol' aggrolance evade set on and you'll be golden for Guild style. Definitely use Enraged Guard as one of your arts, you want that buff.

Adept is basically what a guard build should be able to do but can't so... yeah.

And Aerial... Aerial is least popular but I think the buffed up jumping attack that hits multiple times is pretty nice. Not worth choosing Aerial over the others really but if you love mounting AND lances well you're not going to feel gimped I say.

Honestly the weapon is flawed at its core as it stands now. The Lance is a precision weapon that plays smoothly and has a good deal of mobility. Though sometimes its significantly different moveset can be a benefit, GL doesn't have all that and the gun part does peanuts for damage. The animation lock is also a bit much.

I remember somebody saying CB was probably what the devs wanted GL to be and he's probably not half wrong.

How is the Seltas set? The lack of slots is disappointing, but it does look cool.

I was so insulted when they told me the heat mechanic was supposed to be a buff and it turned out to be a huge nerf.

"Hey so we took away 15% of your damage but if you work a long time and are really precise about it you can maybe get 20% damage back on your stabs! Err.... just the stabs. Heat should have just been a flat bonus. Turn Gunlance into a momentum weapon. Shell more to increase your stab damage. Then stabbing should somehow increase your reload speed or something. And Wyvernfire should cost heat but be dramatically more powerful the more you had built up.

All the regular sound effects are there. There are easy goal posts to where you're needed for story related stuff so you dot get lost.

Right now the game is pretty easy. Since it uses the rock paper scissors system of speed attack, hard attack , and whatever the green attack means. Most monsters predictably just use one of those moves, so you just use the super effective one to beat them out.

Pretty much, though I'm not sure I'd call it "mainline" more like "streamlined". Though if you didn't know, the kid you choose can only use either GS, SnS, Hammer and HH.

Any you only get the option of GS and SnS in the beginning.
I guess it doesn't really matter since the combat system barely changes no matter which sword you choose.
