Generally no, it's range armor so it gives an accuracy penalty. Using off-style armor is generally only viable when using high tier weapons against mobs with low defense.

Somewhat afk gathering skill. You collect energy that's used in invention and a few other thing. Get it at least to 80 to unlock invention. It's also the best skilling money maker in the game, but still not nearly as good as combat

Full armadyl for ranging, subjugation for maging, and bandos for melee is a good starting point and should be under 25m total for all 3 sets. They're T70 power armor.

Spined, rockshell, and skeletal are a really cheap alternative, T50 power amor, should be able to get all 3 sets for 500k total.

Because armor and weapon tiers along with forcing you to wear armor that matches your style gimped any and all reason to mix and match.
There is no reason to use anything other than malevolent/tectonic/sirenic and nox scythe/sgb/staff of sliske.
There are only 4 usable perks, anything less is just worse.

And probably the biggest change was quests. They went from fun things with every once in a while getting a really lore heavy and long one to every quest being all lore 100% epic le gods.

You could wear dharoks or you could wear torags for less offensiveness and more defensive capabilities since their stats were different.
Now there's no difference between a dragon 2h and a dragon longsword other than the abilities they use since they all do the same damage per second.
Before, if you were fighting something with a lot of magic damage you could forego some bonuses from other armor and wear ganodermic for the huge magic damage soaking.
Now you just wear torva/malevolent since wearing ganodermic hinders you intead of helping you.
Now you can't use a dds or gmaul or dclaws or whatever as a spec weapon since specials outside of the dark light are worthless and even if you could they wouldn't do half as much as assault or rapid fire from a t90 weapon.
Now you can't even use set effects or enchanted bolt effects since almost all of them require autoattacks instead of abilities to work.
Now all ammunition is worthless since you can kill 100 things with just 1 arrow with abilities.
