Oyako Rankan seems to be pretty well requested, and it's not like you need a translator specialized in the Rance Contient in it (like say Galzoo Island or Evenicle). If MG does an Alicesoft nukige next year, it'd be either Escalayer or Oyako Rankan depending on how votes go and depending on whether they have too many NTR focused titles for the year or not.

I just finished Mamatoto, and I'm honestly confused as to why this game exists. The gameplay is lackluster and repetitive and the story is shallow, lackluster and never gives you a reason to give a shit about anything that's happening. The "true love" route of the game has no relationship building, you just jump from making bread to swearing undying love with a 20 line single CG h-scene, if even that, while the rape/"NTR" side of the game has the same plain as shit h-scene problem, compounded by there being no actual NTR since none of the girls have an actual connection with Nanas to ruin, even if they profess their love with him every scene since it's so fucking shallow. You have Kakaro mindbreaking Nanas lover and killing them off offscreen but at no point is there enough relationship building for it to feel even a little bit like NTR, they are such non-characters. Half the sex cgs are Kakaro looking at picture or the back of CD boxes which don't even have an accompanying story.

The only part of the game that wasn't, to me, just straight up a failure was the characterisation of the males, since females are utterly ignored in every non-ADV scene, but even then they all have single digit numbers of scenes and with so many of them ultimately none are particularly memorable. I've played every translated Alicesoft game and this is the least enjoyable time I've had so far.

TL;DR I was just really, really unsatisfied and needed to vent. I remember hearing Mamatoto is one of the lead devs beloved children which I guess explains why it's still heavily referenced over a decade later but the game hardly deserves it. Feel free to call me a pleb if you disagree though.

Rance Quest Magnum has good gameplay (though it's still on the grindy side) thanks to all of the gameplay fixes from Magnum. It does suffer from a lack of plot until you get to the second half of the game, which is what Magnum added.

Rance IX's plot and characterization is much stronger than its gameplay, but even that is perfectly fine. It's based on Mamatoto's but is much more refined (while losing the strategic element the kids system provided unfortunately).

The 3D really helps the game, even if its only somewhat better than PS1 3D.

I cleared Abel, then went back and used the pre-final battle save to get some other endings since almost everyone was at affection anyway and the last level was just a single map of abusing Patton. I got most of the sex slave ends too by just reloading a mid save point.

It was a waste of time though. Murats ending being they just don't end up together for literally no reason, not even a contrived one just no reason period, two girls being murdered off screen with no one giving a single shit and Arvys ending having two no text CGs flash up as the epilogue made me kek but it was a "this is fucking terrible" kek, not a "this is great" kek.

Say, does anyone else save/make SR webms?

Also - I should mention that I'm currently working on how to put all that stuff about capturing the Youkai wives on the Wiki, along with all the other stuff that hacker anon has dug up. Currently the wives are the priority but it doesn't help how hard the situation is to put into words. Hopefully I'll get it done sometime soon, although there's still a couple of things that need checking, like if that GF[172] thing that hacker anon mentioned counts the troops I lose due to Battle Permits or if GF[173] is across all battles or not (I suspect it is).

Oh, and in lighter news, I'm taking a programming course, so hopefully with that and the English translation of SR's code, I'll be able to really dig into anything we're unsure about, although that'll have to wait until I'm not busy, which might be quite a while from now.

In that particular example, I just hacked so I could quickly make the webm. Truth be told I don't think I've ever seen an enemy unit with Initial Time Advance (they usually incorrectly have Advance Time 2 in their 5th slot). I only ever intentionally make a bunch of unit like this when I'm doing the Demon King route without Permits, or I'm doing some sort of silly challenge run, in which case I just spam the 'Increase everyone's affection by 3' SAT bonus.

Rance VI could get that high, but it'll probably take longer. It has a lot of coverage, but it's not on Steam.

The only worthwhile thing in those games in Kisara's theme song. I'll spoil below what the plot was from what I can remember of the games, in two posts, apparently.

Rance is out of money again and thus decided to apply for a job to solve the issue of the something pharmaceutical company (the one who makes the majority of healing items) to see why monsters are attacking their mining facility. This job only pays the person who solves the mystery so Rance is forced to compete with other adventurers for the prize money. Among the people trying to earn the large prize are Bird and his current girlfriend, Kisara. Before exploring the mines, Rance and Athena 2.0 explore the main site where he meets Rose, a scientist lady who helps with the research of new pharmaceutical products and the head of another division, some blue haired kid who treats everyone like garbage. Rance,and Athena 2.0, explores the underground caves where Athena 2.0 draws some sweet maps. To get past some slimy wall, Rance fucks Rose and has her change her teams funding to research how to remove the slimy wall. Once past the slimy wall, Rance finds Bird and Kisara stuck in a trap underground. Rance uses some kind of sleeping gas to make them fall asleep and slides down a rope to where they are. From there, Rance uses Athena 2.0's voice mimicking ability to trick Kisara into having rough blindfold sex with Rance, who is pretending to be Bird. Eventually, during their rough sex, Kisara starts to hate Bird for being an asshole and when Bird wakes up, he has no idea why she hates him.

Eventually, Rance sets off a trap that causes him to fall down a pit himself, however he is saved by an exceptionally strong superhero named Pink Mask, who has healing abilities and probably carries way too much luggage all the time since she can carry a fully armoured Rance with one arm. Pink Mask leaves shortly afterwards and Rance discovers that some cult is using a monster spawner monster to spawn the monsters in the cave. Apparently, they are fighting the healing company because they are making situations unfair for monsters, who are totally people too. Eventually, Rance managed to defeat the monster spawner and capture the girl who started the assault. He then sexually assaults and mentally tortures her until she reveals the cult's home base. Now that the monsters have stopped spawning, Rance gets the big bounty. However, it is revealed that Kisara owes a lot of money to Pluepet and is about to be sold off as a slave. Rance gives away his prize money to Pluepet as a down payment for Kisara and her sister's freedom. In 4.2, Rance uses the information extracted from the bad guy to infiltrate their base. There, Rance builds a sandcastle that gets destroyed by some kids; Rance promptly kicks their asses. Gengi showed up some time in 4.1, I think.

They go in the base and Rance needs to fight their elite four. Rance kills them all, including the short dude from that level 3 spell caster's imaginary harem. Eventually Rance finds out that the pharmacy company had kidnapped one of the four primary monster generators. After going back to the pharmaceutical company, they find out that the blue haired kid kidnapped this gal monster in order to create a new healing product out of sweat or tears or saliva or something since he's bad at science and ethics. Eventually, she is freed, but the cult keeps being a pile of dicks. After freeing the gal monster and beating the elite four, night starts to fall, so Rance has the option to either lock them in their underground base or assume they won't just leave overnight. After Rance chose to let the cult be, you get a game over where they escaped overnight and you had just saved after making your last decision. You then never play the game again and never see the true ending.

I forgot to mention that Sillbarrel is the innkeeper of the Inn Rance at in Rance 4.1, however everything else is kind of a fever dream. Something about Athena mistaking a puddle for a lake, something about the best thermos ever. An onion deity in soup, throwing a book at fish to kill them and getting a key from them, trying to access the next room through one entrance causes a stampede of monsters to run after Pink mask. I think Athena tried to get some fruit in a tree but it was impossible because of a bug? Seriously, the rest of the game makes little to no sense. Other than Kisara's theme, the thing I remember best about the games is the combat system had you only able to use Rance's slave 10 times before she was too busy and that you couldn't heal, just restore your fatigue. Also, Athena 2.0 can auto heal, making her the strongest.

Why do you consider that? Because it's like to be Alice Soft's hot new brand and thus is exceptionally high value? I can see that. As for being paid pennies, I have the fortune to live somewhere where pennies is more than enough to be practically wealthy so that's no problem. Evenicle is pretty fun and casual enough that I could see a lot of people enjoying it, translating it would be worth my time and effort. The writing is enjoyable enough to be fun but not so god-level as to be really stressful and time consuming, it's perfect. Won't touch it without MG's permission though. I quickly found a JP wiki with pretty complete data, anyway.

Yeah, I got it. I had missed Riche's ice spell back in ch2 and spent this whole time thinking I had to use the AOE version for monsters weak to it. Wasn't until I found a chest with a skill in a hidden area that I realized I probably missed it.

I was considering translating all the wiki pages because they're short but 1) I'd have to make up localized names that'd probably differ from potential official versions thus making the lifespan of the info limited 2) I don't know how to make those purty charts or deal with wiki formatting in general 3) If people in the west actually wanted to know all that stuff it probably would have been tl'd in the past year and a half to meet the demand. That last one's just a guess though.

I read a Good Haro blogpost where she stated she wanted to do more BL stuff but management wasn't playing along too much, and then went on to state that even as a full time employee she didn't have a deciding choice in which games get TL'd. It stands to follow that random individuals don't have a deciding choice, either, even with partially or completely finished fan translations.
