My experience playing buck has been pretty positive. He's a great flanker and can work well on both modes; the issue is his damage is really poor so you can't pick him if you're already playing with a comp that's a little lighter in the damage dealing department. If you take advantage of his leap and regen efficiently he becomes a very, very annoying thorn for the enemy squishies that they can't quite deal with since he never picks fair fights.

His ult could be better but it's still usable. The CD reset and reload are really nice if someone else joins a fight you're in and you have to deal with two people, and the double damage you get makes your shots pretty damn strong.

The issue I have is how short the ultimate lasts. Since all you're getting after the initial refresh is double damage, it only lasting 6s feels like it gives you the ability to kill just one person, maybe two. I'd like if it was extended by a duration per kill earned. Might make it a more attractive button to press.

I can see it being justfied for a range or time nerf, but one or the other, it's a hard thing to balance as if it's too much one way it's either OP or UP, there's not a lot of inbetween.

Usually I end up popping it just to deal with barik, as his shotgun is basically the same, and he has a shield and turret to help him, it sucks being only able to get a single target with it, but its good enough if your team needs to push.

I have a feeling I'm the only 'useful' Kinessa player I see lately

I play close to the objective and to my team but not too close to reduce flanks and I spam mines everywhere with the card that gives me 6 mines. Most of my elims are assists but I still output a decent amount of damage, sometimes topping the team. I choose wrecker to nuke shields faster.

Why can't other kinessas be at least half 'useful'

Do you even play the game?
The main problem is both how maps are designed and the game mode itself.
OW can get away with these kind of ults because capping isn't as fast (the points are also larger) and there's generally more to do around instead of just trying to push the payload (map "verticality" if you will).
In this game it's another story altogether.

TIPS AND TRICKS - OFFENSE TIER

-Choosing Wrecker on the red upgrade makes you pierce through enemy Shields much faster.
-Choosing Bulldozer on the red upgrade list makes you much better at taking out deployed tools such as illusions, sentries, mines and bombs.
-Either of these can be picked by a Support or Flanker to make them better at cleaning up a point.
-Analyze what your team's biggest threats are and choose accordingly. You won't be able to take both, and picking either will lock you out of Reload speed, which may be better based on your champion.

Sure, you can go to the effort you described, but nine times out of ten a skye can just run in to the enemy from behind, drop it like it's hot, then smokebomb outta there. TIPS AND TRICKS - DEFENSE TIER

-Choosing Veteran in the green row will make you heal up extremely fast if you go a few seconds without firing or taking damage. Certain skills like Fernando's Shield won't trigger the self-healing cooldown, allowing Veteran to suddenly bring you back to full health without having to fully retreat. Use this upgrade if you don't expect to be healed much. Also useful for flankers with a strong escape.
-Choosing Life Rip is invaluable if you plan to be doing the direct opposite of taking cover. While not a substitute for retreating, this allows you to stand your ground for longer, and can sometimes give you an edge in a head-on firefight.
