You're told to look out for her but you never do shit and she ends up dying for you. You're never told if her death was even useful considering Dagda's power over you. It's never that worrying since you've got the god of revival at your back anyway, and it's just trivialized more on Bonds. I really wanted her to be more important to the plot since Akira's whole motivation was supposed to be finding his sister, and monarchy was just a consolation prize after failing.

Nocturne is great, you can play it whenever you want at this point. It's a hell of a lot harder than the ones you've played so far though, and yes it has the best (and most canon) chaos ending in the series.

Apocalypse is good, better than IV on all the technical/gameplay details, but the difficulty curve is even worse and the story is a little too happy-go-lucky. I'd recommend it after playing more of the games since it's mostly just a fanservice game.

Anyhow it's not that simple.
I can tell you how to unpack roms but for actual contents it differs on game to game basis as different games uses different proprietary formats for their audio.

You also need a 3DS for that to decrypt them first, no other way around it, unless someone gives you a decrypted rom.

Basically all you need is this toolset:

I'd be playing Nocturne right now if I didn't have a limited access to the internet (I just moved to a new place). I had DDS on my old pendrive so I started playing it. Difficulty probably won't be really a problem, I don't get frustrated with games and I didn't have any problems with P3/P4/SMTIV.

Nocturne is fucked up man, that's all I'll say. Bosses that can, in theory, give themselves infinite turns.

As for your list, yeah, you can play those in any order, though SMT II you'll want to do after I since it's one of the few direct continuations in the series.
