Speedrunning is arbitrary. Realistically, most games will never be put to a competitive standard where obsessing over speed is going to feel and be worthwhile. It's not worth it to put speed on a pedestal in categories outside of the standard any% that are too long and not good speedruns.

Example: turning sound off to save time. There's no benefit to this obsessive completionist behavior in a category very few people will ever run and at a cost of destroying your childhood memories.
