I really enjoy playing them despite being one of the slower grinders in the game. Their block stance can makes them a nightmare to face in pvp and the combos are very satisfying since they have a lot of ways to get into one of their most powerful attacks.

My point is a high tier horse doesn't make a shitter suddenly good. As far as pvp is concerned, i'll sperg a bit and explain why I said "who know what they're doing."

You can only use certain spells on horseback so your rotation is limited and has to be timed well otherwise you'll be left with them all on cooldown. The direction of your spells can be manipulated while holding middle mouse button allowing you to steer one direction and attack in another. However, on horseback you can't use spell quick slots - you have to manually combo the keys. In order to effectively loose your spells while still maintaining control of your movement you can also drift and combo an instant-accel to keep your mount drifting while you then use directional keys for your spells. You can even reverse the direction of the instantaccel/drift combo without breaking the combo, but the timing is so autistically difficult to get it almost always ends up fucking me over.

Above need not apply to pve considering how pathetically dumb the ai in this game is.

You absolutly need pets once you get to endgame to loot for you. You can buy them on the market from other players but they are in high demand so it will require some auction house sniping.

The only thing you must directly pay for that could be pay2win is weight limit increase. You can get around this by having a wagon or horse or building a house near your farming location and putting a storage chest in it. But its not as convenient as having fully maxed out weight limit.

That's not how it works at all.

BDO is an MMO where you literally can not kill someone who is drastically more geared than you. Not only do you have to deal with stupidly high evasion rates(this isn't even taking into account the evasion-stacking meta which hasn't taken root outside of Korea) but your CC skills will be outright resisted more often than not on the rare occasions that they actually land.

On the other hand anyone with at least DUO accessories, TRI boss armor and a TET weapon is going to have 95-100% accuracy against you and will burst you down through the duration of a single knockdown. You are little more than a mosquito to them and there is literally nothing you can do about it other than grind for several months to reach that level of gear. This game is all about gear and RNG. Skill contributes almost nothing.

Now imagine if there was still an exp penalty for being killed. Anybody who started playing after the first few months would be stuck grinding level 50 mobs forever because daring to venture anywhere more efficient would result in instant, unavoidable death. The strong would continue acquiring wealth at their hastened pace and everyone else slowly works their way toward PRI/DUO with the scraps they have left. Your only hope of "catching up" is if those ahead of you quit. There is no other way.

The strong can continue amassing wealth but softcaps keep it relatively in check, with all the catchup events allowing newer players to reach the tri gear softcap and be able to compete with all but the most geared

You keep using this term but I don't think you understand what it means. Yes experience gain hits an extreme upward curve at 56 and largest realistic level gap you'll see in PvP between a new player and a hardcore player is 4. Breath, Strength and Health all have similar curves at 30 and again at 50. Energy, CP, life skills... everything in this game has some kind of curve to it that helps newer players "catch up."

None of that fucking matters though because in the end your ability to stay competitive comes down to how many hours you can invest each day and how good your luck is. That lucky asshole who succeeds enhancement is suddenly a god to anyone who didn't. The unlucky fuck who grinds for months and months and fails to bring their boss weapon up to TRI for the tenth time in a row is completely unable to compete purely because literally every aspect of this game is steeped in layers upon layers of RNG. Putting in more hours can help combat this slightly but in the end you're useless if you aren't lucky. You can easily sink billions into gear and regress. Maybe several months later when you finally have enough funding to attempt TET again you'll actually succeed. Likely not since the odds are heavily stacked against you.

For TRI you need 35 failstacks just to have a 1/3 chance of success, and that's only weapons/armor. Simply getting that many stacks is fairly expensive and RNG-heavy(yes, even with a low karma alt attempting +15 over and over.)

i tested it myself on another server and made an alt - in a week i hvae almost 100 mil worth of stuff and 50mil is just raw silver at level 5 along with over a months worth of value packs, blessing of kamasilv, a tier 5 horse, a fishing boat, 2 costumes and some other random shit.

My first week playing I made 150 million. Since then I've been averaging 100-125(initial week was more lucrative due to events and one-time rewards such as knowledge/contribution.)

Lets be generous and say you're going to make 150 million per week. That's 600 million per month. A full set of TRI Grunil, a Liverto weapon and PRI or DUO accessories is going to run over one billion silver. That's not even competitive gear, that's "maybe I wont be killed in the duration of a single knockdown." A full set of TET weapons/armor and DUO/TRI accessories is going to cost three to four billion silver. That's five months minimum.

This is all assuming you're playing several hours every single day. A new player will not be able to defend themselves or PvP seriously in this game until 2017 comes around and that's being generous.

Gathering or farming. You can rarely get sharp/hard crystals shards which are worth several million each. I doubt you have much CP to spend on fences right now so I'd say gathering for now. Red meat and blood is pretty much always in demand.

Also important to note that as your gathering level raises it becomes exponentially more efficient. Not only will you receive more items on average and be able to use better tools, you'll occasionally not consume energy at all.

Mining and logging aren't very lucrative until your gathering level is higher. You'll start getting rarer, far more valuable materials like platinum, gold or gemstones whereas collecting meat or blood from wild animals will give you pretty much everything valuable from the start.

To the south/southest of the Western Guard Camp are plenty of wolves to collect red meat and blood from. Directly south of them is an area with a pretty sizable batch of boars, also good for red meat and blood.

If you've progressed far enough to reach Heidel you could try going to the nearby Costa Farm and head directly south of that to find an area with plenty of Rainbow Lizards. You don't get red meat from them but you can use a tanning knife for their hide; it's much more valuable than pig or wolf hide which is why I didn't recommended skinning them.

One last note: Search for "Silver" in the armor tab on the market. If you ever see Gatherer's Clothes +1 available go ahead and buy it. +Movement/Gathering and +10% gathering experience will go a long way toward making the process much faster. +Gathering in general is makes it much less tedious, so look for some Grain Soup on the market or cook it yourself. It's very cheap.

If you have the money there's no reason not to. Just make sure they have the right skills.

Sprint basically makes your horse 1-2 tiers faster. Instant Acceleration is very, very slightly better but drains your horses stamina. Drift allows you to take turns faster and pairs very well with IA due to being able to chain it repeatedly.
