I fully appreciate that, and I also know its absolutely never going to happen because greed > gameplay and both PLEX and time gating are the top ways they make money from the game. And no doubt there would be a massive exodus of long time players but I reckon a lot of newer blood would want to play EvE once they got rid of the above, particularly skill training.

After the huge Nerf no one every looked at drakes or heavy missiles ever again. It wasn't until 2012 after the hurricane Nerf did rapid lights become the new thing and now the missile balance is such shit and heavies do such little damage and apply so poorly that rapid lights even with their reload time so more damage than heavies. Rapids also apply better to cruisers so the real comparison is even worse between them
