The black wall crumbles and Illya flies up to take a look, with Sapphire saying that something feels different from when she fled. On the ground, you contact Roman as scheduled and he says he’s decided the incident isn’t something they can leave alone for the sake of Chaldea’s safety, so you have permission to continue until the end, though he also admits that he wants to help Illya.

Da Vinci and Helena talk a bit and they both compare the Reality Marble to a sort of purgatory for Magical Girls. Da Vinci says Magical girls are strange magic-users with access to enormous amount of energy and who can use spells sometimes without previous setup, but that they are also unstable, and that the First Lady must be a sort of focal point for the leftover attachments and lingering feelings of Magical Girls. Their conclusions that defeating the Lady should unravel the whole Reality Marble and solve the situation.

Illya charges through the waves of Familiar magic sticks, but their numbers and strength increase the closer you get to the castle, until you tell Illya to go on ahead since you’ll open up a path. Illya refuses to leave you behind and says she’ll just go all out to barrel through, so you turn to Helena and ask her if she still won’t fight. She admits that she lied previously and that she does have her power, and finally decides to act, inspired by Illya’s courage, and changes into her combat outfit.

Just then, Helena’s familiar, whom she calls “Al” shows up, saying that he promised to always be with her so long as she never discarded her pursuit of knowledge and the two laugh as they reunite and prepare to fight the army of Familiars.

Good fucking look with that, even the Japanese seem to have no clue how to read it. Best guess is that it’s French, since the second word looks like “Dueil”), an anti-Magical Girl Formal Wear.

Kuro stops Illya from speaking, saying she knows she’ll deny it, but she herself kinda feels there’s some truth to it.

She says she gets that, but tells you to shut up since you’re a proper human and don’t get it, and that she wants to wish and create a world that is for herself. Kuro brings out her swords and Illya gets fired up, asking for Ruby and Sapphire’s help. The two suggest using their medicine or special brainwashing equipment (respectively), but Illya tells them to put that away and get ready for battle as Kuro shouts that she’ll keep Miyu for herself.

As you beat Kuro, her eyes start glowing and she says the Lady is even greedier than herself, and wants not only Miyu, but Illya as well. She tries to hold her back a bit more, but the Lady takes control, saying that she had agreed to wait until Kuro’s battle was decided, but no more.

The Lady introduces herself politely, saying she was a magic-user born in the land of the dead/hell/underworld/whatever you want to make of “魔界”, raised in the human world and then turned into a Magical Girl. She fought in secret for the sake of everyone, but in time this meant becoming isolated and lonely until she could not even stay in her world, but she still never fell and became a witch, instead wishing only to grant the Magical Girl’s wishes and Oh God this entire event is basically an Original Character-centric fanfiction isn’t it? Gah.

She’s technically one of the Echoes already though she still lingers on, and sough Kuro since she needed a real Magical Girl to do whatever it’s she’s doing. She never intended for the Magical Girls to fight each other, but that ended up being inevitable given their world isn’t big enough for all of them.

The Lady plans to use Miyu to help her reach other worlds. She realizes there are infinite alternate world with infinite possibilities, meaning infinite people that might need a Magical Girl’s help, so she wants to form a Magical Girl Army (“Little Witches’ Corps,” which she then rectifies to “Prisma Corps”) to spread out and grant everyone’s wishes.

She asks Mashu if she wouldn’t want to wish to be with you forever, but she refuses, saying that she was lucky just to be able to meet anyone, and that she won’t forget the Lady even if she forgets her.

Miyu wakes up and asks Illya to please save Kuro, since the Lady is lying about what she really feels. Also, she makes an aside that it was really uncomfortable to be alone with Kuro since she couldn’t think of anything to talk about, which makes Kuro temporarily override the Lady to shout at MIyu to tell that to her face.

The Lady re-establishes control, saying that she has now dominated Kuro completely so she can manifest her real power. Illya gets ready to fight, Mashu delivers a sappy “Illya is strong because she doesn’t give up” speech and then you go at it.

Cue pre-packaged generic Magical Girl exchange #168739. Illya has no understanding of anything, but she knows she’ll always fight for the friend and family. The Lady thinks she’s a fool, yet envies her determination and gets nostalgic about her old days and tells her story.

Herself and a friend were selected to represent opposing sides and the Lady ended dup not being able to save her friend. Her friend rejecting being a Magical Girl and became the villain in her story who was the enemy of the world and the Lady had no choice but to fight her, but never got a chance to apologize for killing her.

Helena strolls in quipping about how half-assed her cool last stand ended up being, since she ended up surviving after all. She says that “that girl” could never make it inside due to the castle’s defences, and then tells you all to follow her outside.

You find one of the Echoes looking really pissed off outside, and you realize it’s the same ghost that passed you by in the Land of Death and kept loitering around the black wall. Ruby injects Illya with a potion to give her spirit-medium powers, she gets possessed by the ghost and immediately rushes at the Lady-possessed Kuro and starts hitting her while calling her an idiot.

The Lady realizes that it’s her old friend Mira, the real first Magical Girl, who says she turned from the world as she saw her friend burdened by everyone’s greed and avarice and decided the world was not worth saving. She could become an Echo since she was a Magical girl, however briefly, and has been lingering as a semi-unconscious spirit since then, sustained only by her wish to ease the Lady’s suffering. Helena then realizes it was her subconscious wish that probably tapped on the Leylines and summoned Illya and the rest into the Reality Marble, although the Lady says that it was Mebd who summoned you from Chaldea by opening the Leyline to peek on other worlds.

The Reality Marble starts to collapse as the Lady’s power wanes, and Helena asks the Lady if she won’t allow her to inherit her Reality Marble. Helena says that this place is necessary as a sort of resting place for injured soldiers, or rather a purification area for Magical Girls, and that its original purpose and the Lady’s real wish was to ensure there’d be no more fallen Magical Girls like her and Mira.

Mira’s presence vanishes and Illya gives the lady a sappy speech about resting at last and entrusting the future to the next Magical Girls. A jewel appears in Helena’s hand and the Lady vanishes at last, so Ruby teases Illy and Kuro since they were left holding hands like Mira and the Lady were.

Kuro wakes up confused as to where she is, recounts everything that happened to her as though it was a dream, focusing on how she was told she could have a world where she was the central actress and could get all lovey-dovey with Onii-chan, and overall doesn’t take responsibility for anything. Sapphire points out she has the Chaotic alignment and Ruby says that this behaviour is exactly why she’s never in the leading role, so Kuro complains about how she was doing her best to resist the Lady’s control. Miyu admits that the only reason Kuro wasn’t completely absorbed was because she was holding the Lady back and she mentally reconsiders how Kuro is just like Illya deep inside. Kuro teases her about how Miyu looks like she thinks better of her now, but Miyu says she’s still going to sue her for emotional distress as an Edefelt would.

Helena will stay here with the Echoes and Medea as a sort of host for the stray Magical Girls, and if the world ever collapses, she’ll just move everyone somewhere else and set up a haunted house. Everyone takes turns to say goodbye and thank you for going out of your way to help her. You tell Miyu to be a little more selfish and say what’s on her mind and Mashu agrees, except Miyu turns to her and asks her if she is honest with what she wants herself.

Yeah, it wasn't bad. But they still missed some key lines that explained better what was Shirou feeling atm. In ufo's UBW, Shirou always talks about the ideal, never about himself, what he desired. In the VN, IIRC, Shirou says something along the lines of

Shiki and Waver were characters that existed beforehand, and the main villains of both were either a one dimensional ghost made of hatred or something which barely counts as a character or had already been established by the lore of Fate/Zero. The plot of the Zero event is literally something straight out of fanfiction: a character who knows how the canon events go does his or her damnedest to make sure they don't happen that way again.

Meanwhile the KnK event was sort of a rehash of Paradox Spiral but massively simplified and stuffed with OH HEY LOOK IT'S THIS SERVANT, AREN'T THEY DOING SOMETHING HILARIOUS? And then there were 6m HP ghosts in a basically-scripted fight, and then the final boss was mysterious and fucking meaningless at the time.

None of the collab events have been fucking masterpieces of literature. The Prisma event really isn't any worse than they are. They're fun if you like the source material and maybe give a little more insight on a few Servants that haven't gotten much screentime, but that's about it.

Okay, let me be clearer. Dantes was a mysterious force throughout the event, one we weren't supposed to know much about. Instead of having everything about him revealed in an infodump at the end of KnK, he had his own event dedicated to him which went in depth into his mindset and explained who he was as a character. Contrasting that, we have Lady, who was a mysterious force throughout the event and was promptly revealed to us, whereupon we were bombarded with infodumps about her tragic past as a magical girl from hell and how she couldn't save her friend and yadda yadda yadda. It's all thrown at us immediately, and our engagement with the event depends on us forming an immediate emotional attachment to Lady based entirely on those infodumps. She's created entirely for this event with no ties to Fate at all, she's not even a Servant like Dantes turned out to be. She's literally a Hiroyama OC created because he can't think of an interesting plot.

That's part of the hook of using popular characters: they serve as shorthand hooks that help make them easier to connect with because you already know them from somewhere. Part of the fun in these is watching how familiar stories and characters are reinterpreted. A mixture of old and new content.

He also has a LotRx3-sized novel where he is fleshed out. This event revolves entirely about two literally faceless characters whose screentime is so throughout consumed by giving you cliffnotes of their sad backstory that they have no character. Do you know what the Lady and Mira's personalities are? Because I have no idea, and I read the damn thing. The sole moment where any character flashes through is when Mira starts hitting her in anger.

The rest of any scene involving her is a painfully by-the-numbers pre-canned character role fill-in dispensing pre-canned lines until the entirely predictable conclusion comes. Most stories follow schemes yet are brought alive by the characters and twists within her. This is a bare fucking skeleton following a script.
