And at the end he appeared to have figured out that Manaka was up to something nasty, since he put up a lot of bounded fields around their house and seemed to goad Arthur into becoming Ayaka's guardian. It's also implied that he assisted Arthur in finding the location of the Grail.

But overall he doesn't actually do much. He had a talk with Arthur at one point and of course he briefly housed Manaka's servants in his home, but Manaka was acting very much independently of him most of the time.
