I played a bit with the bots last night, but never finished a match. I was just trying out the characters. Today I decided that playing with bots was boring and headed into online. Stupidly, I picked a character I hadn't played as before: Bane. But I thought to myself "All well, lets just see how things go." I'd heard all kinds of terrible war stories about starting in DotA, I was ready to get killed. I was ready to lose.
I mostly stayed in bottom lane on my own for basically the entirety of the game up until we got very close to the base of the opposing team. I would engage with people and creeps, and back off once they were either dead or I got hurt a little bit, I wasn't too concerned about getting the last kills on players but I did try to get them when I could. Staying at bottom, I was able to farm a lot and kill any hero who tried to destroy the tower. My attacks levelled up very quickly. I levelled up Bane's second attack first, because that was the one I was mainly using.
Eventually I moved up to middle to join most of my team and we stormed the enemy base, and unlike a lot of other games, I felt like I was actually helping my team. I wasn't getting any negative remarks, our team was working good together. In the end, we won. I finished with 7 kills and 4 deaths. I even got a kill-streak at one point, forgot what it was though.
I really had fun playing. It was great! =)

Its not about whether it is your fault or not.
Its about taking accountability for everything up until it starts getting out of your hand.

So if you play support often and you play like a baller motherfucker, pulling and zoning. Never taking lane XP. And TPing to fights to help out the moment they start. You are doing a good job.

But as the game goes past 15 minutes and your carry has done nothing but farm despite his massive level and item advantage, then the game goes out of your hand and it is pretty much not your fault.

I suppose the thing you can be blamed for is not convincing your carry to get into fights.

Now if you play like a complete shit support and you don't pull, suck xp, never gank or join early fights, then you basically abandoned your teammates and favored doing literally nothing instead.

In that case if the enemy gains an advantage it IS your fault.


Here is the funny thing though:
If you do the first case, the team will blame you for losing even though you pretty much set up the game for them.
If you do the second case your team seems non the wiser and you are just an average support.

This is why I no longer play support.

Is Aquila Ring on Invoker worth it?

I always see everyone getting it but I'm starting to think it's just a meme, I usually get Basilius only, I think it makes more sense than an other item of similar cost for Exort Invoker since you benefit from all the stats and it's good for pushing later, but I don't think getting the upgrade is worth it for an Int Hero that is usually trying to get Midas early too.

Well, I would never get a Null and a Basilius at the same time on any hero really, but looking at it like that it's a little more value to get Aquila than buying a Null on top of a Basilius, slots aside, I guess that's the logic of getting the item, but I think it should depend on how much gold you want to spend on an early game items that you will end up selling by min 20-30, I still think in most game it's not worth it, but then again Pros seems to get it most games so probably I'm missing something, or maybe they just get ganked more often and need the extra tankiness.
