Ok, first off, 2h swords are usually in a bad spot. Then, frenzy is awful as a main skill as it not only namelocks, also has no aoe coverage other than splash (which is pitiful in this era of screenwide aoe skills).

You can't do that if you go Blood Magic as your auras will reserve your life, unless you're talking about the support gem for your main skill, but that is redundant as well since you can simply get some mana leech (hint: there are some nodes right there under duelist you dont even need them all 0.4 or 0.8% at worst is more than enough).

As for your tree, if you REALLY want to use Frenzy, it is usually a better idea to grab some frenzy charges, so you want to move to the right part of the tree. You also want Resolute Technique because going crit with 2h weapons that are not staves are also a waste of your resources and they are better spent invested into straight up damage or life. I mean, it's a 45 point skill tree so I can't really judge anything on that besides getting RT, moving on to the right side of the tree for sword nodes and frenzy charges in the future and grabbing the Scion life wheel.

majority of bow builds are pretty fucking garbage for endgame, caustic is somewhat ok with a good +3 bow, but some bosses are just flatout immune to that, things like voltaxic are just dead unless you're in standard with legacy gear. there is a reason you don't see anyone playing it including people who really enjoy the playstyle like mathil.

Think about what shotgunning means, the damage of a 'shotgun' spell at close range is N * the number of projectiles compared to long range, that's N * 100% "more" damage when a 30% more multiplier is considered incredibly powerful. There is no possible way to balance the damage value per-projectile such that the spread is decent for waveclear (the 'obvious' use case of LMP/GMP) without the shotgun being insanely broken.

I'm running a lightning strike build ( yeah yeah I know ) and I've hit a wall and not sure how I should proceed.

I'm talking about any arbitrary goal where you're racing against time and ladder progress. If you're playing purely for fun and to test your limits, dying isn't a big deal in hc. That's just how far you went this time, and you reroll and have fun with another character. If your only goal is to say, get 36 challenges for the portal mtx, then yeah playing softcore would make more sense.

That's just a decision you make according to your goal, but not everyone has the same goal when playing PoE. There are plenty of people without a job/school in softcore who play 16 hours a day too, they're just trying to achieve their own personal goals that are only realistic in softcore (e.g. craft the perfect character, farm Uber Atziri, and so on). There's no real correlation between amount of free time and playing sc/hc.

If you have free time you can level a character to maps in a day. If not then it's 2-3 days. And that's only assuming the player is proficient. For those who has less leveling expertise it's not unusual for them to take a week with limited time. That's a pretty huge difference. A limited time player playing HC will most likely not get far in terms of end game content, so unless they like to go through the acts again HC is much less desirable.

Leveling can be fun. Racing against yourself can be fun. I made it to merc Dried Lake in 7 hours last time, can I be faster this time? It doesn't matter if it takes me 3 days of playing 2 hours a day to achieve that. Again, not everyone is playing for the same reasons, or have fun the same way. I'd get terribly bored in softcore if I reached level 90+ and had my complete 6L gear and everything because I know there'd be no risk of me ever losing that during that league. If you have any experience with hc, dying during leveling is basically impossible, so the only real deaths come from end game which is an acceptable and expected outcome.

Because Clarity, Rallying Cry, EB, mana regen nodes, Hierophant, Trickster, leech enchant on boots are all things that exist in the game.

Atziri has been in the game for more than two years. I don't see a constant influx of complaints about Disfavour's imbalanced state breaking the axe builds despite it remaining unchanged ever since its introduction. Maybe you could point me out to relevant reddit threads since you value their opinion so much, but the general consensus seems to be that's it's an incredibly powerful unique that is justified by its extreme drop restriction, i.e. you have to beat an extremely hard boss dozens of times on average to see one, or trade for it but the end result is the same.
