IIRC, if you force them top roll with the jump, then they can't backstab you unless they get lucky and get that stupid bug that lets their roll phase through your model without making collision. It has to completely whiff to be reliably BSable.

The bugginess of the stagger hit is a real killer, though. Any weapon that works that way (eg has multiple small staggers leading up to a large final hit) can release your target from the attack if their poise resets during it. It just happens super often with the Wolf GS R2 because the jump stagger has really high poise damage.

So I'm noticing bows are actually pretty good this time around, or at least they feel considerably better.

Which ones are worth using? I've gotten a ton of mileage out of longbows but I doubt that means they're the best. Meanwhile crossbows haven't done much for me but I think that has partially to do with their range being kind of shit.

Bows aren't that good, you'll feel very bad if someone pulls a shield. Composite is the best one because of the strong roll attack, remember dark arros have some tracking and that's about it.

Side note, which weapons go well with faith builds. I heard someone say dragonslayer axe once but its faith scaling seems to be pretty bad even when made lightning.

Remove the ability to stagger enemies from the flashsword if spells get HA. Rolling out of a 50%-of-your-hp crystal soul spear into r1 spam isn't fun at all, and them casting the 50%-of-your-hp crystal soul spear despite you whacking their face is only slightly less insufferable. Casters are just awful to fight in pvp duels no matter what you do.

DS3 is a direct sequel because From understood that fans of the series wanted closure on the plot threads started in 1. DS1 takes place in a land that's mostly Lordran (but also a bit of Drangleic, LOTHrIC - LOrdran , THorolund, drangleIC) so it's natural that the things most iconic to DS1 get "recycled" here. DS3 is also the last "truly Dark Souls" game before they start to make their own I.Ps again so they naturally want it to have a strong connection to DS1 to cap off the series instead of introducing a lot of new lore at the last minute just to throw it all away at the last minute.

I retract everything I said yesterday about low level invasions being entertaining. It's a nice break from high level shit, but its way worse, the weapon variety is literally nonexistant, and it isn't satisfying killing hosts who don't know how to play the game. I think players should be embered 100% of the time and always open to invasions unless they are in offline mode bc otherwise, everyone who is embered is shit at the game or gank squadding, there is almost no inbetween.

So, low level invasions are fun for ~1 day, High level invasions are fun 15% of the time, what are your experiences with midlevel? Honestly I think lvl 60 aldritch is the only way to get a somewhat interesting invasion, and that area is dull as fuck

There's a couple problems with ironflesh:
It kills your stamina regen and mobility, and pyro in general requires a tonne of mobility to be effective since everything casts so slowly and has excessive stamina costs.

And it makes it way too obvious when you cast ironflesh as a pyro that you're going to be fishing for sacred flame. Only idiots will fall for it and you can't rely on idiots to make your build viable, else ultras would be top-tier.

Plus the nature of ironflesh in pvp is basically making you non-interactable for 30 seconds. There's no point attacking somebody that can't be interrupted at all and takes like 60% less damage, especially when it'll wear off in a moment and they can't chase you.

You'll finish NG around 70-90 if you don't go out of your way to farm
If you want to invade, stop at the ideal level range for the place you want to invade in. 70-80 is about ideal for endgame zones and obviously lower for earlier in the game.

Shortbow has rolling and running shots, which do little damage but are great for kiting and skirmishing, especially in pvp. The composite bow is a straight upgrade to the shortbow and should be replaced immediately when you access it.

Crossbows can pre-load a shot, meaning the actual time between pressing the fire button and firing is very short, but then requires a separate reload animation. Crossbows have no scaling but can fire some very powerful bolts, like explosive ones which make them a good tool for punishing mistakes in pvp or just damaging things in general.

Overall, bows have higher DPS than crossbows due to the crossbow reload time, but crossbows require no stat investment beyond their requirements.
