i went from <800 to 840 in a week's worth of locks. find a group (or better yet, make a group so nobody checks your ilvl) and cheese heroic mechanics. you can walk in under 810, you just can't queue for them. from there spam heroics and DO WORLD QUESTS (!!!) until 830, after which you'll be able to get mythic groups and get that final 10 or so ilvls to be competitive. with a little bit of luck it's doable in a weekend.

I've found a Crashing Waves / Echo ot the Elements Riptide focused build to be much more effective than the standard chain heal, AOE based build for herding cats in dungeons. The healing is probably less efficient but throughput is much less dependent on party positioning.

tank is pretty much the only role you will be able to pug a mythic as with 812 gear. geared dps is everywhere now so good luck with that. an 812 healer most likely just doesn't have the throughput to heal through a mythic. contrast that with a tank, who with a good healer can hack it through good play as long as he has just enough hitpoints to survive getting oneshot by any fight mechanics. i was healing our guild's main tank through mythics when he was 789 with no issues

Rotation is basically keeping your dots (Rake, rip -and moonfire with talent-) on your target while also managing to keep your buffs up (berserk, Tiger's fury, Ashemane's frenzy -and Savage Roar with talent-) in order to maximise your dot damage. If you fuck up there's no turning back, you will be energy starved and/or you won't output good damage through your dots.

Single target rotation (bosses or enemies with lots of HP) comes down to timing your abilities right. Forget doing damage in AoE because chances are by the time you apply your dots, as in keeping rake on your targets as well as trash and rip when you reach 5 combo points, the other players will already have cleared them

Basically it's good on single target but you'll have to work hard for your dps

Having fun with brewmaster. I'm more dependent on a healer in shitty spots since I don't really have anything that can pull my ass out of the fire. It's all predictive and gradual. I'd say it's under prot warrior/pally but better than vengeance DH and about on the same level as guardian druid.

1) At pull start:

Healing touch for Bloodtalons -> Stealth -> Shred (use of 1st bloodtalons) - > Savage Roar -> Berserk -> Tiger's Fury -> Ashemane's Frenzy -> Moonfire -> Rake (use of 2nd bloodtalons with buffs) -> Rip

2) In mid-fight:

If my dots are expiring I may wait for no more than 2 seconds to time them with SR or TF. Otherwise I just dump on Shred.
If you manage to get Rake or Rip with Bloodtalons, by all means, always refresh them.

This is just my way of playing and I'm still learning how to tweak my rotation so I might still making some mistakes here and there

What sims are you looking at? If it's the simulationcraft ones they're not very reliable for gauging how viable various DPS specs are. They function as broad general pointers, but don't read into them like they are the Bible. I have friends who insist that certain specs are shit because they see them simming poorly, which is super obnoxious.

I'm currently sitting at 850 ilvl on my MM Hunter and I do around 280-300k sustained DPS single-target if there isn't a ton of movement involved and when I can cleave adds I can go up to 350k by the end of the fight. Marksmanship is currently extremely viable both for mythics and raids.

So yeah, simulation charts are sort of a meme.

You're probably just finding ones that are fucking retarded and just spam all their buttons and sit their and auto attack for 10 seconds whilst everything comes off CD with no Active Mitigation available.

Prot Pallies do need a slight amount of brain power to play, but it's not like attempting brain surgery to know that you're not supposed to spam everything, which is what 90% of the Prot Pallies I see actually do.
I guarantee that this is because they levelled as prot instead of ret when they usually don't play a tank but stuck with it.

Prot pallies are weird.

The more on point you are with your DPS rotation the tankier you are.

So being comfortable and fluid with when to pop your mitigation and keeping your rotation on point make or break that yoyo effect a lot of healers complain about with pallies.

Plus with fucking seraphim I put out legit DPS levels of damage, so that always helps in dungeons too.
