- the theme of p5 is some kind of detective masquerade something, right? if so, most of these songs fit the theme just as you said.
- most of these songs sounded like backing tracks with no clear melody if you know what i mean. easy to listen to but i wouldn't concentrate on just listening to the songs. more like put this music on background while doing something else.
- from all the instrumental songs, i couldn't find anything totally shit, but nothing too amazing either. hopefully the full ost has some really good tunes.

That's how I feel completely. It's a decent enough OST but I can't really find that it stands out compared to all the previous game that Shoji Meguro has worked on.

It's like how you go an elevator or be in a lobby somewhere and it's plays a nice lil tune and you're just all "Hmm nice" then you move on and it never really stands out. You forget about it entirely.

Maybe this cd is just a bad selection of the BGM and hopefully the full ost is more memorable.
Music really makes or breaks a game for me is why I'm pretty strung up on it at the moment and Shoji Meguro always makes amazing music. Hell he even made a MMO have freaking amazing music.

While I do like some of SMT4's tracks, I do agree with you. SMT IV has a huge identity issue and can't decide what type of genre/theme it wants to stick with when it comes to the music. This is suppose to be a grim world where the people of Tokyo are all but abandoned. People struggling to just find simple things like water without some fukboi demon coming in to fuck their day up and the music doesn't reflect that. Meguru is the best at conveying the full story just with his music alone.

If it's like 4, the "Low Acc/High Crit" and phys hit all spells were easier to get for melee rather than gun, so STR might be the better play if that balance holds.

Well it's a very nice in Apocalypse
Having higher level demons mean they take less damage, have better stats from lesser levels, better skills (like Media and shit), especially when the difference is as blatant as 9-15 and this is early in Apocalypse.
Not to mention resistances which pretty much make the battle system, and on Apocalypse the Nulls, Repels and Drains only tend to come pretty late, Null for example at 30+
Also the sooner you get higher fusion the sooner you can get the overpowered demons classic to the series
