Japan was never going to last against all of west. It was an uphill battle from the start. Capcom gave up on adding their own real money currency system because they don't have the technical know how to implement it. They couldn't even get the store working properly and had their servers blindly trust the client.

Everyone here shared impressions of character in SFV, what they need for the next balance changes, who needs the hammer and who needs some sweetness. But aside from balance changes, there is something that also needs to be addressed, along with many other issues: how do we bring the hype to these characters.

There is this shared impression of the current roster that SFV simply lacks of flair, the game is pretty simple on a concept level and the new stuff doesn't seem to bring in the game much more going on. I don't know, I got the impression that Guile zoning in SFV is nowhere as strong as the previous games iterations of the same character. How do you even zone if the character lacks of good solid horizontal normals? I don't play Guile myself, but ISDD said that he can actually zone better in V because of the added mind games you have with his v-skill. He barely uses normals, all he does is fireball-flash kick, with the rare normal thrown in here and there to regain that perfect spacing. But yeah, he does zone insanely well with him. Fun thing is that more players have now picked up Guile again too: Du and Dieminion for example.

Reacting to jump-ins and playing mindgames is a basic thing that basically every character with a decent fireball and a solid AA can do. It's not something to be considered exclusive to Guile since it being a common practice can be done with other characters. It's not really a strength, but rather a "I have this tool to!" fundamental. And let's not forget that Guile's Somersault Kick in SFV isn't even a proper upper-body invincible reversal, which makes the character shine less in the roster.

That's why you see people picking Nash instead of Guile, simply because he can do everything Guile can do but better, with the advantage of getting better horizontal normals which allows him to zone better than Guile. And he's also much more flexible.

I make a lobby in SFV being in Europe. I have to wait for a considerable time before someone in my range joins because Capcom are dumb monkeys that still don't know how to insert a simple region filter present in 90's indie games.

And then after I have people joining the lobby, there is no way I can communicate with them. The experience is completely sterile. I might aswell just stick to casual since I just play some strangers with no means of talking. And then there's the fact that it's forced king of the hill so no point in making large lobbies since you'll just wait 30 minutes just to play two matches. I don't know you guys, but when I think of a well-varied roster I think of different options to choose with, to variety of playstyles with unique strenghts/weaknesses. When I pick, let's say, Cammy is because I consider that footsie oriented playstyle much more fitting to my playstyle, in exchange of generally lower health.

When people say that "every character feels the same" they are not talking about most of the cast being able to use s.mp as a combo starter or the game favorizing a playstyle over another (which are still pretty solid points in regards to SFV overall gameplan). The real translation of "every character feels the same" in SFV is that you can simply drive that playstyle to another character and get the same results. The point of zoning with Guile becomes a bit shaky and far less interesting if there are characters that can bring that playstyle in a much more flexible way. Same for many other characters.

This is why I think the "SFV is the most balanced vanilla iteration" is a fairytale that everyone pretends to be true when it's really not. The fact there aren't broken characters like Vanilla Sagat or Vanilla Akuma in SFIV doesn't mean the game is balanced. It just means that it's far less "offensive" in its broken-ness, since it hides the dirt within the character choice and variety.

The issue is that Maximilian is followed by lots, with a good influence on people who're aged from 15 to 21 years old.
