I think it's rigged as fuck. Last week I queued up freeze mage for the first time in ages and ran into 2 consecutive control warriors. Before that I'd find one in maybe 15 games; most people were playing warlock, hunter, and shaman. It tilted me off the face of the earth, so now I just play midrange shaman because I know blizz can't fuck my winrates.

We know Blizz have access to all sorts of statistics, for example they mentioned they know how likely your win rate is increased when you topdeck a certain card. It wouldn't surprise me if they could make a fairly accurate guess on what archetype you're playing based on some key cards and fix the matchups so the win rate is roughly 50%. Can't balance the game, but they can rig the matchmaking a bit to make it seem more balanced.

It's about the same as hearthstone. Since you draw lands half of the time. Then again that also means your opponent isn't drawing threats every turn. MTG has much better pacing overall. No idea why Blizzard went ahead and reinvented the wheel there. (and then made it a fucking rectangular)

Yeah, but MTG makes up for having low cost boardclears by giving most, if not all colours some sort of way to counter spells or respond in such a way that defends your boardstate.

All Hearthstone has is 1 counterspell, and Divine Shield. I do agree with minions in HS being stickier though, not that there's no sticky MTG creatures but there's a much bigger ratio in HS.

Most card games don't have blocking phases, ie, Pokemon, Vanguard, YGO, ect.

They all do blocking differently, but there's not an actual "I'll block X with Y" mechanic. The issue is though, in most card games, you can block with any creatures unless they state they can't block. In Hearth, only taunt can block, so it's situation as to whether you can actually block your opponent's face.

And that leads back to boardwipes, because they're the only efficient way of clearing a board state in Hearth.
