AoD has some really cool features DH doesn't:

Armies and fleets bring a small stockpile of supplies with them, instead of instantly falling to pieces when cut off (HoI4 has something similar, 'Supply Grace'). This means you can have pockets get cut off and remain a threat, like Stalingrad or the Atlantic fortresses bypassed by the Allies.

I've analized the case of Ba'athism back when I was making flags for the Arab Union and decided that, when you get down to it, Ba'athism is closer to "fascism" than to "communism". While I'm not outright saying that Ba'athism should be considered fascism, I believe it's close enough to be included in the somewhat vague "fascist" category the game has. Thus, in the case of the Arab Union, I based the fascist flag on Ba'athism.

However, for Syria I didn't do what I did with the Arab Union since Syria actually had a good party that fits the bill way more than Ba'athism. Pic related is the flag I'll go with.

I'm aware of that, however, you also need to take into account that Ba'athism has elements that separate it from Marxism.

One is that Arab Socialism isn't the same as Socialism in a Communist sense. Arab socialism was seen as a part of Arab nationalism; socialism as a ways of modernization of the Arab States in order to achieve the Nationalist goal of Arab unity. Finally there's the issue of Nationalism itself. Ba'athism was primarily a nationalist ideology, which included socialist elements in second place. Colonies seriously need to be nerfed in HPM or any mod that is still active and cares about realism or balance.

Right now they're pretty much just the same as states, only that they can't industrialize or vote, and that they get different events.

They get the same healthcare as people in a state, same pensions, same unemployment benefits, same education. What fucking sense does this make? Right now seeing unemployed and literate colonial African niggers in the Congo living off god-tier NEETbux and pensions is the norm in, say, 1870.

Nerf pop savings for all colonial pops, and reduce the effects of the healthcare and education reforms for colonies. Put a modifier in every colonial province that reduces pop growth while keeping the reform itself active. +0,08% pop growth would be nerfed to +0,02% by using this, +15% education to 5% and so on.

It should probably be adjusted depending on the region though, it makes sense that pops in colonial Canada would live in better conditions than a nigger in the malaria-infested jungle.

Sup /gsg/, getting back into ck2 with this frisian campaign, just formed a custom empire off frisia as the dynasty that originally holds it before charlemange. I'm planning to release all holdings outside of greater netherlands (modern day netherlands+belgium+luxembourg) and take this game into eu4 after I spend the rest of the game building tall and maybe spreading around my dynasty.
