A9LH works by loading the hacks before the firmware. Simply put.

The hacks are embedded into the NAND in the ARM9 section that during bootup load.
Therefore the CFW and homebrew and hacks and all the patching and sig checks all load before the firmware. It's permanent unless you remove it yourself.

It will work with all firmwares no problem. Just keep updating. Just make sure the developer of your A9LH CFW has support for the latest firmware.
