I have a mod which makes it so you can toggle whether quick movement and combat is on for different situations, like you can make it so everything is quick except for your own combat and movement, and enemy combat if it involves you, optionally also whether it involves your allies fighting against a common enemy, etc. It's pretty handy. I also have one that speeds up plane animations, because I kind of like seeing what the fuck the planes are doing but it takes fucking 10+ seconds per bombing run usually. I'm not sure they thought that one through when they made this game. Thank fuck for mods.

>>

I pretty much only use that option as part of a peace deal, so you can get a city without warmonger penalty and it doesn't lose population and buildings.

>>
Hi, Dido! Don't worry, my units are just passing by.
>>
>>154822434
yes
my base spawned on top of an elven wood stockpile; who was I to deny that?

Also it took me 300 turns with almost every building giving at least attract elves 1 (some had 2; total bonus was something like 13) to get 7 elves (and somehow I got a dwarf off of attract dwarves 1 in the first 50 turns after getting the building)

The highest attract elves bonus you can have total is 20 though so it'll never be fast.
Unless you're being fucked in the ass though it's not a huge loss to not have any attract humans buildings; humans that dont grow up in the village are usually shit. Fucking scavenger recruits.

Dwarves/Elves are usually the best recruitment effect; Demons are a mixed bag but worthwhile and Goblins are practically a straight upgrade on humans
The Liho demon is a better Elf and you will probably never get one
Alternatively if you restore the Cosmic tree you can just trade children for elves

Why are you comparing them at release when your statement was 'it is better than most 4x games'? It has to be better than them right now, as they are right now, for it to be better.
Stellaris right now is literally a 1-3 playthrough game which is pure garbage replayability for a strategy game.

Stellaris' biggest problem is its lack of replayability and inevitable steamroller lategame with nothing to do, and the almost complete lack of any real distinction between playthroughs because once you've explored once (exploration and surveys being the strongest part of the game by far), you've explored a thousand times. There simply aren't enough survey events and these events aren't dynamic enough to last for more than two or three playthroughs.

But in other ways, it's a disappointment that needs a lot more work."[72] Eurogamer gave the game an 8/10 despite their criticism that "the AI in Civ V is still curiously terrible,"[73] while GameShark gave the game a B+ while stating that "the computer opponents are ill equipped for the military side of things."[74]

True that. I don't remember the entire build order by heart, but I tried going for a cultural game. I built Orléans close to Moscow because it was a good spot and I wanted to keep Moscow away from Paris (if they settled in that spot they'd be awfully close). After that I mostly focused on growth and quickly settling 4 cities in the best spots I could get. As far as I'm concerned (and I realize I'm probably wrong) there was no room for me to squeeze out a significant number of units. I did buy an archer and build a wall for Orléans though but it wasn't enough.

>>154837221
I agree, pre-BNW their unique Foreign Legion actually encouraged expansion. Now they have one of the shittiest unique units. How do you make a France led by Napoleon and NOT make it a warmonger?

Because if he planned on pirating it he wouldn't have asked at all.

>>

Because they have money to burn and want to give companies they approve of their support.
When you make, say, ten times the price of a game in a day and your 'free' money at the end of a month is a hundred times the price of a game, whether you pirate it or buy it comes down to whether or not you feel the company in question should receive payment.

Earthbound gives +% energy and +% army damage.

I'm currently hoping tensions will rise on the planet where I have mutants.

My biggest problem with Endless Legend is the lack of disasters. The intro and and lore and theme of the game tell of how shit's going to go down and the world's dying, the last era has this great "the end has come" tune, but nothing actually, you know...happens. Winters get longer and harder, sure, but all that actually does is lower numbers. There's no devastating storms, tectonic upheavals, mountains exploding, coasts and islands sinking into the sea, hideous beasts rising from the earth,...nothing that really says "apocalypse" to me. It just gets a little nippy and that's it.
>>
>>154849575

What are some minor things that don't sit right with you, /civ4xg/?

For me it's knights as a generic cavalry unit common to all civs, despite obvious historical inaccuracies. I understand it plays on the chivalry tech, which makes sense, but it's still kind of weird running with Zulu or Korean knights. I'd much prefer a generic "heavy cavalry" or something.
>>
>>154869090

Religions actively trying to spread is something that annoys me in Civ IV and V, seeing as many of those religions couldn't care less if you followed the same gods.
>>
>>154868441
The Dune mod is Goat too.
>>
>>154869090
I'm not so fond of the basic infantry unit countering cavalry, and with pikeman coming before Knight.

I'd prefer a heavy infantry unit that went from something like Phalanx>Pike Square>Tercio instead.

And then instead of pikeman you'd have a more light infantry unit with a more humble anti cav bonus, with Pike Square coming after Knight.

There are some mods that build around ideas like this, none that I liked completely.
Started working on one, but never found the time to finish it. Will probably make my own unit setup for civ6 instead.
>>
>>154869734
>and with pikeman coming before Knight
What exactly is wrong with this, because the pike phalanx goes back to Philip of Macedonia who certainly didn't have plate armor knights.
>>
>>154869090
>>154869325
tfw no slight alt-history where you see aztec jaguar warriors on horseback or shit like that
it would be cool if that was the case but they want to be kinda realistic with civ and I doubt anyone will go around making alt history ethnic units for everything.
>>
>>154869949
I do wish they would change units skin color when playing as, say the zulus. it feels weird that everything is white until impis, and then everyone is white again
>>
>>154869802
Because Landsknechts that adopted the Pike Square came after knights, and the Pike Square was basically the turning point where infantry rose in importance in europe.

Human military dictatorship, and yea, that's what I was thinking, although one of the mortalen colonies is in the same system as one of my own colonies, so theoretically I could go down that route by absorbing them, although I'd probably need to do it by force, and I'm honestly not sure how detailed the AI is, so I don't know if that would make things better or worse if they actually have an ethnostate revving up.

Plus then I'd have filthy lizard people in my empire. Honestly leaning more towards just sending a fleet to just glass the damn things.

What's the best fleet loadout these days?

I tend to go with carrier battleships, lance cruisers for anti-cap, destroyers with med lasers and light raillguns for mop up, and a screen of corvettes with medium torpedoes and point defense to spam the enemy and screen incoming torpedoes.

I'm hearing however that some people just do one of each battleship, and then fill the rest with Destroyers and corvettes as a way to spam torpedoes and lances as cheaply as possible. Should I cut cruisers out of my fleet composition?

Pic unrelated.

Battleships with 6 tachyon lances.
With different relevant auras.

I'm not sure on defense though.
Depends a bit on what you're facing.
Different Crystal/Armor combinations are better vs lasers, others are better vs arcs, others are better vs tachyons, others are better vs non.
Not sure about shields.

Future update will give some diversity into fleet compositions, a bit forced it seems, but it's better than tachyon battleships upon tachyon battleships.

I would honestly recommend starting from pre-warp on manual. It lets you start from a position where everything is simple and easy to manage and moving at a slow pace, and then slowly adds a layer of complexity as you advance more and more.

Don't forget to pause whenever you need to. If you ever feel swamped, just pause the game and take your time figuring out what's going on.

Another reason I only play on full manual is because when something is automated, shit just happens and you don't realize it, and it can actually become more confusing then managing the entire empire yourself.

I don't know of any perfect guide off the top of my head, but if you have any questions you can just post here. I'm in the middle of a game myself so at the very least I should be able to at least point you in the direction of an answer if I don't know myself.

I'm kind of excited for the spinal mount cannons, provided the animations are improved to fit them. The way ships just sort of wander around shooting things with their 360 degree turrets (even shooting through themselves with no problem) is kind of lame. I'd love to see ships use actual formations. Broadside for turreted weapons, and line abrest for spinal mounts.

It would also be nice if ships with bombardment computers knew how to maintain a distance from the enemy, rather than just sort of sit there when the enemy closes the distance.

Honestly, I'd prefer that stuff to be kept in the abstract. The game is about the higher level grand strategy, not the tactical level.

First, turn all automatons off.
Second, start a game in early era, with no other empires, but a lot of independent planets.

That will slowly teach youhow to deal with warps and how to expand.
Don't tax too much, only build mining stations on important ressources. Fuel is EXTREMELY important, always build gas mining stations on whatever has cesium.
If you find a good scenery spot, try building a resort station. It's pretty much hit or miss, but when it does, you briefly drown in dosh.

Oh yeah. If you have a few space pirates actives, you'll have to pay protection at first, but you can activate smuggling missions to get rare ressources. Not in early game, of course (they'll need to set up their own infrastructure to do so), but in late-early/midgame.

Don't try fighting them early. They start with an advantage, and every losing battle renforces them, but if you can locate their construction ship, you can take them out, it's difficult for them to replace it.

>>154877036
Oh, also, don't worry too much about your income going negative. Keynesian economics actually works in Distant Worlds. You don't want to have anything more than a small nest egg of funds on hand, you want as much money as possible to be going into your private sector. Keep your taxes as low as possible, never tax colonies until you need to or they start capping in population, and whenever you can, drop your homeworld tax to 0% early game, it gives you a massive population growth boost so when you do turn the tax back on when you need it, you end up getting several times the income for the same tax.

Also, having no tax when pirates show up early game will make then ask for a lot less money.

Your private sector makes money through private business, and uses that money to buy ships from your spaceports and to retrofit them periodically. Because of this, your empire can make money by spending money. You build a mining station, the private sector builds freighters to transport the goods. Make a new colony, your private sector makes freighters to trade between them and passenger ships to transport settlers, ect. You want to always make sure you are creating demand for private sector expansion. Low tax and a constant expansion of economic sources will cause the private sector to have more money on hand to invest into more ships and better ships, all while keeping everyone happy with a negligible tax.

It's more or less Trump's economic policy in space, and it works every time.
>>
>>154877814
>You build a mining station, the private sector builds freighters to transport the goods. Make a new colony, your private sector makes freighters to trade between them and passenger ships to transport settlers, ect
Oh, I didn't know it reacted to that.
But I saw private mining ships, so even if you don't have mining stations, you get small ressources income.

Yes, which is another reason scouting is so important. Even if you don't use a planet, scouting it means your private sector knows where to go, and will send mining ships to mine resources high in demand, but you can mostly just disregard them, as they mostly just fill in the gaps. The big demand makers are mining stations, which are more efficient at mining and create a more reliable demand of trade and freighter construction in addition to serving as refueling stations in the case of gas mining stations, and will even sell resources to other empires or independant traders for extra cash.

Essentially, the process of a bit of gold getting to your homeworld is as such. Either a mining ship mines it and takes it back, selling it to your empire (plus you taxing the sale and import through your spaceport) or, a mining station extracts it, a freighter picks it up by buying it from the mining station, and then takes it back and sells it to your empire, plus a tariff, and then it is either used by the planet, sold again to another trader, or is put into a starship component and sold to private citizens as part of a new ship or retrofit.

Making dosh in Distant Worlds is a matter of making sure the economic machine is well oiled, but you should avoid thinking like most other games where the goal is to make a giant dragon hoard of cash. You play as a government, and you need to look out for your private sector.

I wonder if having a lot of ressources available lower the price of ships.
>>
>>154880054
It does if those ships use those super common resources. It also lowers the cost of private ships purchased and built at your space ports, and thus lowers the income you get for selling them to private citizens.

Although cost isn't just determined by its availability at one location. The general galactic demand also comes into play, so if you have lots of stuff a neighboring empire is in need of, independant traders (or your own, if you have a trade agreement) will buy from your empire and sell to their worlds in need.

how is endless legend compared to Civ V?

>>
This thread moves so slowly I thought it died.
>>
>>154909417
In the Endless games, the AI is always the same, the difficulty level only gives you advantages or handicaps.
You also stockpile ressources instead of just getting benefits from having them linked to your city, but you can consume a fixed amount of them to get empire-wise boosts.

Combat is a bit better than in Civ, but a pain in the ass because of the loading.

Each faction play differently.
>>
>>154909510
when you say they play differently, do you mean like in Civ where they have different bonuses and shit or like in somelike thing Warcraft where their units are different etc?
>>
>>154909417
And I'm not saying "Each faction play differently" as in Age of Empires 2's or Civ 5 style.

Each faction has a different system and their own quirks.
The Broken Lords can't use food and have pay to get more population, the Necrophages can't do diplomacy at all, the fire mages having moving towns, the Cultists have just one big town, etc...

You only get 3-4 units per factions, and they're specialized. Broken Lords have an infantry unit but no ranged units. Vaulters have basic ranged units.
That's why allying with neutral factions is interesting to compensate for your race's weakness or capitalize on their strength.

>>
>>154907323
My main gripe from playing mostly on very hard difficulty is elven/dwarven recruitment mattering more than gear for the end game

You'll get top tier items eventually no matter how you play but they can only buff the unit they're equipped on so much
>>
>>154909604
Well, to give you an idea, I'll talk about the Broken Lords.
Their basic unit is the stalwart.
They can be equipped with either a spear or a sword, and have leech powers.
With research, you can unlock the bishop. It's a magic user who fight in melee and can heal close units (if I remember right).
And then you can research a third late unit, the broken lord calvary.

And that's all. The units work as chassis in Endless Legend, what's interesting are the new armors and weapons you unlock by progressing up the tech tree. You can either keep shitty stuff but spew units more quickly, or have elite units with top stuff.
It's recommended to do the latter, as your stacks are limited in units.

>>154909810
Okay then.

>>154909845
Because the only survival games I tried before were How To Survive, Sir, You Are Being Hunted and Garry's Mod, and in all cases, you only suffer at first, once you got the stuff you need, it's an easy ride.
>>
>>154909417
The UI in the endless series is among, if not, the best of all 4x games.

I would highly recommend play at least 3 games with the Wild Walkers to get a hang of how the game actually plays as there is a lot it doesn't tell you from the tutorial as the WW are the easiest faction to use for beginners.
>>
>>154910109
There's a tutorial in Endless Legend?
>>
>>154910132
Yes.
>>
>>154909417
I really like the game, it's a fresh wind of mechanics after yet another civ 5 slog.
The art style, mechanics and lore are it's biggest selling points to me. The combat is interesting but I'm not the biggest fan of it. All the factions are different and have something very unique to them.

It's negatives is lower replay value because of the heavy focus on the story and some other things.

You will definitely enjoy it a ton and it's good for at least solid 5-6 playtroughs just to explore the different factions with their different mechanics.

>>154909604
Each faction has it's own base set of units and additionally you can use a variety of neutral units or mercenaries for the other factions. For example the Cultists entirely lack a basic frontline infantry unit as they are expected to rely on the minor factions converted to their faith for their grunts.
Additionally each factions mechanics are wildly different in the way they play not just on a +2 production or something like that but rather having unique mechanics.
>>
>>154910162
I didn't knew. I started my first game in sandbox mode with the Necrophage.

>>154910228
And to expand on the minor factions, they also gives bonuses when assimilated, but only if there's a settlement.
So you're encouraged to assimilate factions that are present to maximize the bonuses.
>>
>>154909232
Custom difficulty settings mean you should be able to tweak your experience to your skill no matter your level of familiarity with the game

Dont expect to win your first game though; not because the game fucks you that hard but because as a new player you'll make mistakes in your early play and need to correct them. The game wont kill you so fast that you struggle to learn.
>>
>>154909417
Adding on to what others have said about how factions plays, you can also make custom factions with the in-game creator using one of the factions as a base and adding/removing traits.
>>
>>154910279

>the fire mages having moving towns
Nah, that's the sandjews, the S&Mages have boost towers and get stronger the more they're damaged.

So, a breakdown of the factions and what they do in EL:
>Wood Walkers: industrialist elves, can detect disturbances in their territory's forests, vanilla as fuck and newbies should use these until they get the hang of it
>Vaulters: technovikings, can designate a resource as holy and use them to teleport units between cities (among other things), second vanilla with focus on science
>Necrophages: swarm scourges, cannot diplomance or move out of cold war, get food from kills, kill them as soon as you find one in your game
>Broken Lords: money vampires, they can buy population in cities and heal units only with money, food is of no use, make sure your money production is high if you play this
>Ardent Mages: S&Mages, their units hit harder if they've lost much HP, can plop temporary booster towers in their territory
>Roving Clans: nomad sandjews, can move their cities and embargo a faction from using the market, if you don't get mad dosh from this faction you're doing it wrong
>Cultists: porcelain puppets, can only one megacity, can convert minor faction villages to produce units and influence for you
>Drakken: diplodragons, can enforce peace or war at will (if you have the influence), being diplomatic dragon dicks is your playstyle
>Forgotten: shadow assassins, can't research shit but can buy or steal tech, focus on spy mechanism and stealth, invisible glass cannons
>Allayi: two-face batmen, kinda immune to winter, gotta grab dem poils, more aggressive in winter

In Civ5, you can build your towns anyway. In Endless Legend, the map is divided in regions, and you can only build one town per region, so you must choose wisely. You can also rush ressources gathering by building your town on them instead of researching an extractor.
>>
>>154911050
turn 100 is plenty of time for you to realize you dont know what you're doing and restart 5 times before you get a winning game

Also if the event is mean enough it gives you an option to sacrifice a party member; if the event isnt mean it usually gives you multiple options on its resolution
>>
>>154909889
Leshy's Hair (from Ancient Wood + Dragon Bone) and powerful trinkets help a lot on regular folks. Of course they can't match the Elves' fix Piercing DMG or the Dwarves abilities, but it's a viable alternative. Overall, I'm still content with the variety.

Demons could also be powerful but their pool is watered down with plenty of less useful creatures, so they're a hit or miss most of the time. Beasts are tend to be weak but great cannon-fodders for home defence. I have never had a Goblin yet.
>>
>>154911917
Leshy's hair doesn't deal with a 1x Dragon 1x Zmey (apparently he can appear as a generic) 4x Zmey's Old Minion and 6x Zmey's Minion party unless you outnumber them 2-1

I had a party of 12 with various top tier spears and warhammers and I had no chance

They just have better basic buffs while Drakken is more relied on their forced peace and actual warfare

No reason to be afraid, the random elements can make your life hard but it's totally possible to win your 1st game on default difficulty without reading a single guide. Learning In-game mechanisms is the key to success, even if they can be boring after multiple playthroughs.

With the new Giants DLC, the difficulty spike will get much steeper to the end game (but it's really the end, some folk got them around turn 500). Unless you're properly prepared, they'll fuck your shit up. Sometimes even if you are. But they meant to be real final challenges.

>>154912040
Again: for regular folks, in lack of better alternatives. These enemies meant to fuck your shit up. plain and simple. Of course Elves and Dwarves are superior than them but what you're going to do if you don't have enough (or any at all)? You have to max your chances however you can.

The issue with the new end-game enemies introduced with the DLC (and especially the final boss) is that you'll lose folks no matter what. The only question is how many. Simply because you can't compete with their enormous HP pool and sky-high (often Blunt) DMG in 1 or 2 turns.

My favorite part of Vox Populi is the happiness, especially when it grinds your empire to a screeching halt. That's when you know you expanded too quickly or you're not managing your empire well. Adds more depth and rewards you for making good decisions.

The biggest mistakes you can make early game in my experience are founding too many cities too quickly or putting them too far away without the funds to cover roads/not having lighthouses. Same principle applies to conquest.

She's one of the better demons in the game but not extremely powerful. Her fight / physical abilities and HP pretty good though, if you manage to pump up her Magic as well she's a valuable addition to explorer parties. You need plenty of HEX to be able to recruit her though.

I do that usually. Winning these Immortal matches is not all that difficult, I just can't fucking stand the fact that I can observe the AI bullshitting so visibly.

One of the biggest reasons why I loved GalCiv 2 was that you can barely see the AI cheat. If they're stronger, you can clearly see why. They don't have this kind of crap where their military might spikes out of ass for no reason. I can see from these fucking statistics the instant the AI is cheating or doing something fucking weird.

Maybe I should just disable infoaddict altogether. It's infuriating to see that you're ahead of AI in research by a very large margin for a very long time and you even have spies stealing tech. You can see this in the graphs with InfoAddict and then you notice you're actually on the bottom 3 in terms of technology despite the fact that you generate research more than any AI.

When trying to win a "peaceful" cultural victory in Civ V (just founding 4 cities and turtling in) how much attention should I pay to the army?

In my experience even neighbors that you're friendly with will randomly attack you, and then simply building walls and staffing every city with an archer/composite bowman/crossbowman isn't enough. So how large should my army be if I want to go peaceful and cultural?

Lmao

This is the fucking capital of Rome. The civ that has 133 research per turn. 15 cities, with 5 puppets generating 2000 research per turn and this is their fucking capital.

Their biggest city generates less research than my fourth best city. My capital generates almost three times this amount of research, yet this asshole some how magically surpasses Russia, a huge continent spanning 30+ city empire, in research? They might as well fucking not program the AI to build anything just give them free shit and free units why do any math for how much they produce anything when it doesn't fucking matter?

If they need military, just spawn a bunch of them out of ass.

Jesus christ this infoaddict mod ruined this game for me.
>>
>>154921807
Oh and I mean 133 research per turn in each city, supposedly. If they have 15 cities and 2000 research per turn in total.
>>
>>154921667
As powerful as it needs to be to deter enemies for as long as possible. You mainly just need a high economic or productive potential. There will be times where you need to buy 5+ units per turn across your empire while producing a few new units every other turn if you're doing Cultural.

Basically just be rich enough or have enough production to be able to train an entire army within 10 turns.
>>
>>154922070
So it's not about actually having an army, but having the production to quickly pump out an army if you need it? So what you're saying is that for your "standing" army, just having walls and a crossbowman per city is enough?
>>
>>154921667
There are no peaceful in all of my cultural victory, mate
I remember spawning near norway using YNAEMp, and retaliate all the way to Japan and Mexico when 3/4 of all the civs declared a war on me suddenly, even when all I did were being peaceful and hoard culture and great works.

It more fun that way anyway, I mean, you get to steal GWorks from enemy cities, so it still boost your cultural cause even faster than generating that shit yourself
>>
>>154922294
If you don't want to get attacked by your neighbor, just make a standing army that is statistically average at least.

You can check the average army military size in the demographics. If you keep it average, it means the AI will choose to attack the weaker civs nearby instead of you. If you are the only neighboring civ, then you might have to amp up the military or ensure you have enough production/gold to buy more units if needed.

It's fairly easy to divert AI's attention if there are weaker civs around that they hate.

Oh yeah, I recommend helping the weaker civs if your potential aggressor is on the verge of wiping them out. If you can, throw military units their way and gift them to prolong their demise. The longer the AI civ can fight, the more they can weaken your enemy.
>>
>>154922294
Thats pretty much how I play it. But it's not just having a small standing army, it's having them well trained. Don't ever let the core veterans die. A logistics +1 ranged indirect fire in each city is worth the 5 untrained units you will be buying/producing.

Also having walls is pretty much a given. You need every defensive AND offensive building. The AI will assume you are an easy target when doing culture which is both good and bad. Good because you get to train more units and bad because your shits about to get pillaged and your trade routes plundered.
>>
>>154922687
One good way to weaken an AI civ is if they are attacking a weaker civ constantly, get open borders with the weaker civ and then march enough troops to completely surround their capital and then just keep them there. Don't move the units ever. The stronger AI civs will keep declaring war on that weak ass civ and move their units to attack the city you are surrounding, but can't take it so they just end up getting blown up by the city defenses.

The problem is that this is the only way the AI can actually handle combat as seen in civ 5. Actually positioning your units on the terrain and flanking with units is a lot more fun in theory (panzer general anyone?) but the AI just trips all over its units and managing them lategame becomes a huge headache.

I hope the limited lategame stacks in civ 6 will prove to be a suitable compromise.
>>
>>154925121
>doomstacks are just really really boring. You just clash your stacks at each other and who has the bigger number wins.
Except that literally doesn't work because of how defensive bonuses work. You can sit a bunch of people to defend and send mini-stacks off to fuck up their shit without them being able to stop you because they have a 'doomstack'.
>>

>The problem is that this is the only way the AI can actually handle combat as seen in civ 5

There are other options than civ4 combat and civ5 combat.
Play the earlier games.

Thats because unlike Panzer General, and other wargames, Civ5 unit/map ratio is small as fuck and most units can only move two hexes at a time, causing the whole carpet of doom and massive chokepoints problem.

Whats the alternative? Endless legends has a nice idea with the combat but it breaks the flow of the game too much and slows it down. I usually just end up autoresolving it unless the odds are really close.

Maybe make the maps gal civ fuckhuge and rework the scale? I can see that being a nightmare for map scripts though.
>>
>>154926410
Add flanking and a supply limit type thing to doomstack combat, making it incredibly difficult and expensive (just add more maintenance) to send huge stacks to enemy territory or wilderness without infrastructure, and past a certain point your units begin taking attrition, the limit is dependent on the era and whether you're in hostile territory, neutral territory, or friendly / your own territory.
Flanking makes very large stacks vulnerable to being cut off, and surrounded tiles with enemy units should gradually decrease in maximum supply limit until it's at a basic level (the forage limit so lush land might still support three or five units but desert might actually drop to zero).
>>
>>154926410

Making stacks have a max limit of units and don't go full retard for civilian units to suffer the 1UPT shit either

If it's cheap, yeah. The land wars in it are kinda fun (they would be even more fun if AI didn't love settling on water so much, naval warfare is puddle deep in this game), the game is entertaining at first, but it's replayability potential is fucking miserable and it's mechanics are VERY easy to abuse to the point where you can play on maximum difficulty while staying at first place on points for the majority of the game.

This is why you don't wait until the Atomic Era to destroy Russia.

A Russia with that much land and double resources is nigh unkillable. Whenever I see Russia, Ghandi or Babylon on the map I warmonger them to death. Russia for the UA, Ghandi because his religion is cancer and I always found my own and Babylon because of the late game Science snowball.

I have MAD mod in this game which means 1 uranium is enough to build as many nukes as you want.

I also reduced inflation significantly because I expect this match to drag way past 2050 since this is domination only, so unit maintenance is quite negligible.... which probably isn't a very good thing because she gets a mad fucking ton of aluminium.

N-no... and yes, I destroyed her uranium mines during the first strike. I haven't been nuked in a while so I think she ran out of nukes. I'm nuking the uranium mines and major production centers again for good measure.

Did I mention that the nuclear missiles have enough range to hit anywhere on the map? That's probably an important thing to know because the second anyone builds a nuke, they can launch it wherever they want.
>>
>>154955062
Your only hope is to nuke all the capitals until you can snipe them with Destroyers or XCOMs.

Do it now while the powerhouse is crippled. I believe in Imperial Nippon.

A few questions from a faggot:
1.any long 4x games that aren't based on space?
2.should I give up hope on Oriental Empires? The more I see the worse and boring it looks.
3.trying to work on a project with a friend that is similar to Total War where the 4x elements are on a turn based system but the combat differs greatly. Instead of going with a RTS approach like Total war we are making it more Xcom with grid based srpg type combat. We couldn't find any other game that does this, do you know of one?

I have faith in myself too. Rome hates Russia as well, so they can help out.. if they have any military left that is because I nuked every city they had.. also Aztecs'.

Catherine's not doing all that well either. I nuked most of her cities they have to below 10 population.

They have like 3 cities with 11 pops and two of those are puppets.

Also, why the hell didn't Aztecs take any hit noticeable hit to their manufacturing in this graph despite the fact that I nuked four of their top cities?

Take a look at conquistador. It's an rpg but has the system you're thinking of, with a turn based overworled then turn based battles on a hex map.

If I take out this city, Catherine has absolutely no meaningful city on the entire Eastern seaboard. I will have complete control over this entire side of the continent if I take out this city and one other city below. These two are the only cities that can produce a navy for her on this side.

I never play anything less than a marathon match.

I liked Civ IV much more because it was more sandboxy than Civ V and didn't break after the time limit so badly. These eternal matches are the absolute best.

Stellaris has so much potential for this kind of stuff. but all it needs is more late game stuff so I'm really excited to see what the future holds for that game. I intend to play one match of Stellaris for fucking months if they add in features that keep the game interesting.

One of the things I'd like is being able to create a huge empire and then make it fragment into small feuding factions and take over one of them and basically start over again. That was possible with Civ IV with mods, but impossible in Civ V as far as I know.

I had one six month long match in Civ IV where me and Gandhi had a full blown nuclear exchange and both of our countries ended up splitting into tiny bits and vassals revolted and Earth turned into a Mad Max style irradiated desert where tiny factions fought over the scarce resources.

It was tons of fun.

Catherine's back down to 1800 something in score and Nippon is on the offensive. She has recovered pretty well and will probably put up a fight again, if that's of any consolation to you. There's barely any radiation left around her cities.

Unless she stockpiles another massive set of nukes and wipes out Nippon forces, she ain't gonna do shit. Nippon nukes will be raining down on her as the grorious Nippon armies land on her shores crushing all resistance and trampling the hopelessly defenseless cities of the crumbling Russian empire.
