goddamn I feel like an idiot now. I thought I could get 4 of the triumph challenges done after starting playing this on tuesday, so the first one I did was the taken king quest line. after that I spent 9 hours doing the crucible one where you have to use different weapons and shit, and while I'm doing this I'm using the third subclass since completing that is one of the triumphs. so now I have 2, almost 3 done and I think the only one I'm missing is the prison of elders 41. I complete it only to realize there's another step to it; complete the level 42 one which requires a light level of 320. FUCK MY LIFE, I'm not even close to that. Now I'm going to be stuck at 3 triumphs.

Does anyone know of the best way to do the crucible part of the sword quest? The last time I did it was before skill based matchmaking was turned on, now I literally can't get near anyone with sword because my ELO range is tiny and very skilled, people shard you with a shotty or their heavy.

I've never played Destiny before but the Rise of Iron DLC looks intriguing. However, I'm deterred by the pricing - $30 for the DLC, but $30 for TTK with outdated content. So $60 total... I like loot stuff and this game is intriguing, but I don't have a regular group to play with. Is this game just going to infuriate me? The gunplay looks tight, but yeah... I don't know much about the whole game or what the endgame is

Personally I can justify paying so much because of how many hours I've put into the game. Comparatively I've gotten more entertainment value out of destiny than any of the games I've spent just $60 on. Plus the DLC's are kind of like buying new small games that are just familiar and will give me more entertainment value than if I were to go out and buy a new $60 game. i paid 80 up front for the edition that had all the initial dlc, then I bought just the taken king about a month ago. (I stopped playing in y1 before the first DLC even dropped). I was salty AF about the up front cost, but I've put more time into it than any game besides New Vegas and the shooting is probably still the most fun I've had this gen next to Wolf.

I completed my Y2 moments of triumph weeks ago, rank 5'd all 3 characters during iron banner (despite being LL ~305-310) have completed the hard mode raid several times and have 3 LL 335 characters. yes. patrol mode is great if you just want to pop in for a bit and shoot shit. you can just ride your sparrow around, complete bounties or go do court of oryx shit. the strike playlist would be great for this kind of mindless stuff if the strikes didn't repeat so fucking often.

Destiny's base single player is completely worthless, and HoW/TDB were so short they shouldn't even factor in. TTK's campaign was like a 6/10 but a huge step up.
Basically what I'm trying to say is the raids and wave defense mode are the only decent PvE content in the game. In terms of solo PvE you'll have more fun watching grass grow
