I don't know what leads you to think that friend, but I'm playing with a single pawn and those bandits were basically just the same as any enemy, everything got staggered and knocked down to death. Except the sword and board guys who actually did a lot of damage and killed me so I learned not to pull the whole pack at once.

I'm surprised this general is still going, is it because of the MMO? I just started playing again after playing through like 3-4 times right after PC release. It's such a complete shame this game doesn't have a sequel. I rarely say I have a favorite game, but after coming back I still love this game.

Are you playing on hard? It's nice getting tons of gold and quick leveling but the damage scaling really sucks. I beat hard just to say I did it. But I don't think I'm going to touch hard again, it's just not fun guessing whether an enemy will do a bit of damage or just flat out 1 shot you all the time. It's too bad they didn't spend more time on balancing, don't even get a proper NG+.

You can't be so bad to struggle on normal against those bandits so I'm assuming you started on Hard mode.
Don't, switch back to normal because HM is literally meant to be used in NG+ and challenge runs only, and leads to lots of stupid shit on new characters, such as being unable to learn to perfect block because a missed block is death and the shields being so bad enemies break the perfect block anyway and you get oneshot.

Happened to me when I fight the Drake near the Shadowfort. I think saving near it will likely fly away from you, even if you pierce its heart in midflight, it will still run away from you.

It will block all of the everfall. It also makes a hard checkpoint there, like when you rest at an inn or go into the rift.
You can still walk away from it instead of jumping down. just make sure you have everything from the everfall you want for now.

I was kind of pissed at first but realized that it gives me an opportunity to get pre-dragon missions I missed the first time around and then haul ass to the post-dragon content without really replaying the entire game.

Your arisen needs new torso and legs to make her look less like a midget(you've went with a lolibody but the head looks old). If you want her to look like a kid you need a different expression, hair style, and to shrink her head size.

Should I just take away her ranged attacks that aren't tenfold? I was trying the endecashot and now gamble, but I'm not sure it's actually worth it. I guess there's also the spinning arrow I haven't used yet.
I sort of like the debilitation arrow on large enemies though, feels like you do a lot extra damage.

1.Running away is a viable option.
2.Gear is more important than level in general. So if you're stuck somewhere, try to upgrade your stuff or buy something better.
3. Also, i'd say just play it your way the first time without reading a quest guide. You might miss a quest chain or two. But It's kinda like dead rising or similar games. You learn something new each playthrough.
And in Dragon's dogma each playthrough gets shorter and shorter since you keep all your stuff.

Post game?
After the duke makes the gran soren guards hostile towards you. kill guards by the castle. hire pawns at various lvls until a guard kill gets to as close to 100xp as possible.
Lower level pawns than you get you more xp per kill higher level pawns get you lower xp per kill.
AFK mode: climb the wall next to the cathedral and stand there let your pawns do all the work. The guards only target you. use rings of perseverance and asuras armour to boost discipline point gain.
Pre Dragon?
My prefernce is killing all the gobbos around devilfire grove and towards aernst castle resting 2-3 days then repeat. Dismiss or hire pawns at various lvls until a gobbo kill gets to as close to 100xp as possible then go nuts.

Fuck me, why is the Dark Arisen content so good?
The story hit me right in the feels, especially after reading the lyrics of Coils of Light.
It really milked the setting/premise for all it was worth. Not that the main story wasn't enjoyable once you get past the minimalistic storytelling, but damn.

Also is Death normally supposed to be super resistant to magic? My MA is around level 130 but my Sixfold Arrow does basically nothing to it. I can handle pretty much anything else if I have enough curatives, but Death just takes no damage from anything, not even Ricochet Hunter in a hallway

It takes a little time but eventually they start being useful.
I know people claim pawn training is a meme and that pawn AI is pretty much identical across the board and i cant say i disagree, but you still need to give your pawns a little push for them to start doing that thing you want the AI to do and that you KNOW it can do. Because it does have its limitations.
You cant expect a pawn to do very complicated things with precision, if it ever happens its most likely an accident.

Nah I'll be happy if she just learns to use tenfold as her main tool and stops repositioning all the time. I've got 76% stagger and kd resist on her so far with rather terrible gear, and I'm hoping with more she'll stand her ground more.
That said not all of those times were related to getting interrupted, sometimes she just walks around a lot for no discernible reason.

So based on my understanding of the game we have main game, post/end game, bitterblack, and everfall. What order should I be doing these in and maybe correct my understanding of the game a bit as well.

Main game is before you face off with the dragon. Everyone goes through this part.

Post game is after you battle him, there is more game to be played.

Everfall is a dungeon that opens in post game. There is a certain boss here that some people like to farm. Completing a certain quest in the Everfall will take you to the ending.

Bitterblack is the DLC content added to Dark Arisen. When people talk about "end game" weapons and such they mean items obtained from here. However, you can go here at any time you like.

So what should you do? Story progression will make the most sense if you tackle this dungeon in NG+. The Everfall will be closed until you advance once again to post game, however that certain boss can now be accessed from the starting village.

not sure about the diablo thing but people have beaten games, like FFX, at the lowest level possible with no extra equipment or shit
you just have to learn how to abuse mechanics and git gud

it all boils down to gitting gud (and im speaking from experience, i killed those fuckers myself as a god damn strider fresh out of the village. grow some balls)

Very fun to explore game world, simple but very satisfying combat with huge variety, lots of quests that are just filler to keep your xp curve going, but also lots of real quests that are surprisingly well thought out.

It's always on my mind as well, I like the progression but I hate how the game isn't balanced around a difficulty. I play on hard mode and hate getting one shot but even worse is never dying.

I have no idea what level to lock it at though, the entire game needs a rebalance mod that nobody ended up making(even though it's very possible and easy desu) so my idea is to just gimp my damage when I start one-shotting chimeras and the like.

The game stays fun if it at least takes you a long time to kill monsters, in my opinion.

But yeah get this and fiddle with your stats when you feel too strong.

I'll probably keep going until I feel the content really has dropped behind.
I also don't really know but I get the feeling MK is really strong, when I set up traps with cannons and sigils the barrage that ensues deals ridiculous damage, and today I learned I could use some ripostes to trigger them even harder and more freely.
That said those are just skills that you need to use in certain ways, so it stays fun even if stone forest is silly. My actual damage with the mace is probably lower than my pawn's melee damage with her daggers, but it still does the job somewhat.
