I have been loyal since air combat but AC7 has been a meme, as far as I'm concerned waiting on any news can be summed up to the fags still waiting for confirmation on HL3.

/aceg/ had 3 ages so far, all of them derivating from Infinity. The first was the very start, when Infinity was fresh, threads were way more active and most interaction came from the Steam group - the reason I call it the "Steam age".

Then it came, the second wave. Someone created the new pilot spreadsheet, and a few people started hosting games - the "Idol age" because it was around the time we got the idolplane drops.
The greatest event was when Thunder started hosting, because it became a place to hang on, more comfortable than the Steam group and entertainable on its own. And it was fun while it lasted. For a good whole year this was connecting the community, with the highest point being AC7's announcement.
As usual, good things must end somehow and it started when he needed to get a trip. His RPG got out of hand, in-thread jokes became offensive, puchiposting and hating drove the fun away from borderline content posting and the stream complaints and reports killed that hub. /aceg/ became, even if inadvertently, hostile for newcomers and veterans left. This is the "Downfall age", which started around the time Infinity updates stopped and the infamous coin system was adopted.
/aceg/ is basically expecting to die. AC7 news gave us hope, but as soon as it's released, the only thing keeping us united will be Inifinity's corpse. But as long as there are two people there, there will be /aceg/. As much as the anonymity culture prevails, generals of online games will always give us a certain insight on the community, and we'll remember those who helped it survive.
