Nelson's design with all turrets forward of the bridge was mostly as a weight saving measure. The Washington Naval treaty halted the construction of the N3 class battleships, (A & B turrets like Nelson's, X Turret was amidships and forward facing, incapable of firing direct aft) and the battleships allowed to the RN were limited to maximum of 35k tons displacement. The battle of Jutland had proven that magazine hits could blow up the entire ship, and so protection was prioritized over the main magazines. And to top it off, they weren't content with just killing you with a 5 man deathsquad.. they also would have individuals who would queue up at the same time and either do nothing. Or as a spotter if the map had "You can move south, or east" odds are if the DJ 'ally' went south to 'spot', odds were the Deathstack would be coming from the east.

I find the Konigs t5 entertaining. M-class as well.
And they do plan to tweak CL's range a bit so perhaps.
Higher tiers aren't quite as populated so the CL's role (DD killer, plane eater, ASW in a pinch) isn't as easy at it can be at lower tiers.
But with a range buff it could help a bit.

It isn't. Gold (real money currency) can get you:
- Gold ammo (useless, cost too much and the benefits are next to none)
- Gold consummables (you get them for free just by doing anything at all, that includes just logging in. Silver versions of said consummables are equally good).
- Permanent Paint/Flags (Which you can get 7 days versions for little to none silver).
- Commanders (roll a dice and pray to god you don't get a shitty one, lol you got a shitty one) (You also can get them for just playing the game/getting events done).
- VIP Time (no benefit ingame, just 1.5x/2x XP/Silver)
- Gold ships: This is tricky, some gold ships are gimmick ships with weird mechanics like Ooyodo/Ise BBV which could be good in the right hands, some are the best of their kind for their respective tiers, but not for a large margin (one of those was several times nerfed just to get at that level), and some gold ships are trash and are there just so you can have them looking good in your port. None of those can really be used in competitive modes unless you want to be severely crippled (bringing the T6 Ise BBV into 5v5 is just asking to be assraped several times). Laforey can be used in competitive mode, but it's on a level other DDs have no problem dealing with it.
AND! in any case, the game gives away gold for a lot of activities, the 5v5 ranked mode gives tons of gold to the top players in the ladder every 3 months for example, and anything that's not gold ships can be earned via gameplay.
So...
tl;dr The game isn't Pay to Win, since there's nothing you can get exclusively with gold that would give you an advantage over someone who doesn't pay for gold.I haven't spent a single cent in this game and own like 10 gold ships, have half a year of VIP time and countless gold consumables, for example.

Silver and Gold smokes give the same disguise.
The value of gold repairs lies on how much you get damaged (since you can equip only 3 of them), so either gold or silver are equally good given the circunstances. I like more the silver repairs because I play mostly BB so I don't have too many things to repair if anything brokes anyways.
Gold extinguishers are better I'll give you that, but a ship gets on fire once in a full moon, so after anon gets his first set of gold extings he'll never have to buy silver ones ever.

That depends of the type of ship you are playing. I can see a DD smoking the whole 6 minutes of prem smoke in a single game, and I can see a CV not having to spend a single charge of silver smoke. So yeah, if you are a DD prem smokes are better than regular, for any other ship they are both fine.

There's a mod that gives you better turning rate (ship turning rate) I use that plus the accel mod and radar range for DD, it helps a lot, especially on IJN which have horrible turning rate IMO. Also, don't be preditable, as a capital ship player, after too many games one knows where people want to go, where people want to go when expecting a salvo, and where people want to go when expecting the enemy to know where you will go when they think you think where their salvo will go. It's all about mindgames and experience.

It is, there's separate values of armor for deck, belt and below, and all of them decrease as they get hit ingame. Angle of shell and pen of shell (AP or HE) gets compared on hit versus armor so it's not only about hitting, but hitting and penetrating. Cross T is perfect, deck is almost in any case the best way to land and pen almost every shell of your salvo, and the enemy ship needs at least 30 secs to prepare a full salvo against you (that means you'll have at least 2 free salvos).
Broadside armor will be always the best, no "front armour to avoid T crossing"-wows bullshit.
Devs said they might be adding a russian tree in the future, but now the focus is in the big 4 (USN, Krauts, RN and IJN). USN side BB line confirmed (slow BBs compared to the current Iowa led line). Same for IJN.

Also, since the post I quoted for you only referenced the P2W aspects of the game, I'll told you know that the grindfest isn't a horror. At least compared to WG/WT. Usually, if you upgrade every part of a ship before unlocking the next ship in the line, you'll have more than enough silver to get said ship + any equipment (mods/paint/flags/etc). The grind gets kinda hard in T8+ but not because the lines get horrible XP/Silver requirements, but because the population at those tiers can't sustain games all day long.
Also, if you can, get with gold the Growth Plan, but that's an option, not a need.

Commanders have levels (1 to 10) and ranks (from 1 star to 5).
Each commander has 1 active skill that requires points to activate (sort of a "mana" requirement), and 4 passive skills.
Only the commander in the first seat (the captain) can use his active skill.
All commanders' passive skills are available when they sit anywhere in the ship.
The rank and level of your commander gives certain bonuses depending on where they are sitting (better reload if in the gunner seat, for example).
Both Active and Passive skills requires your commander to be at certain level and rank to be activated, you can read each skill's description to know the requirements of the skill.

It works provided you have all the requirements that the commander has, such as a certain level or rarity. Keep in mind that SOME skills do depend on the guy being in the appropiate seat.
Promotion means giving them another star, its independent from the experience the commander has and generally unlocks a skill.

Yes, unless the skill's description says otherwise, like "needs to seat in the comms seat", see Arashi or Macmillan for example.
This also applies to certain Active skills too.

Level increases with experience, when you elite a ship (this also applies to prem ships) you can activate the Quick Train option to redirect all the XP you would normally use to upgrade into your commanders.
Rank (stars) are only increased via qualifications, which you get from certain events, repeated commander draws and daily login.

They are shitters. Spot for your capital ships, let them do the damage. This isn't WoWs, you get tons of XP for scouting damage (damage done to ships you were spotting).
Also, agano is a horrible CL, but if you must, play her behind your DD frontline, focus on enemy DD/CL, CLs are escort ships made to deal with small ships/plons trying to get near your capital ships. DDs on the other hand are meant for scouting and ASW. Don't mix both of their jobs, both can do what the other do, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't focus on what they should focus.

I can barely go 20 knots, surfaced. I went entire match without even being in torpedo range of a BB. I did however do 13k in assist damage. It was a large match of 11v11 at tier 4-5, so while I did spot for the BBs they would focus fire on any BBs before I could get in range of them. I'm hoping in smaller matches I can actually get close enough to torp.

The color of the plastic is generally more of a guide than the final color, at least for plon modeling every single visible piece has to be painted so I guess it's the same for bote modeling.
Unless the main grey color isn't the plastic color but proper pain, if so I'm sorry for not noticing.
