Well I managed to fix a few things, it's not perfect but it's almost there. Right now you get 100 lashes or stoned to death if you are an unimportant character, but as a noble or a close relative of one you will be judged. There's 2 more options that appear if you have high diplo, high learning + piety or Faqih.

If the character confess, he will be usually banned. If the Qadi is zealous though, he will probably execute you.

To carry any of the justice actions you need to have a chief Qadi appointed, and every landed character can appoint one. It's also a major title like Regent or Physician so if you don't have one the game will remind you.

If I'm going to play as a kingdom without planning to blob outside of my de jure kingdom territory, is it a good idea to destroy all duchy titles (except for where my capital is) and have all vassals only control one county? Is this a meme playstyle?

No new duchies should be formed by any of them since they don't own enough land, there should be no relation penalty either. Everyone would be my direct vassal and benefit from the same vassal relation boosting modifiers. If I include barony-level vassals I would end up having 70 of them, and 20 count-level vassals with decently high centralization while I end up with ~13 personal counties later on.

Stability should be more than guaranteed most of the time unless I get tyranny modifiers which make everyone mad, and there's no real need to do any of that once I get good borders. I would end up getting a lot of direct vassal taxes too since it's really easy to keep most vassals happy (use the pledge peace to vassals ambition, go to hajj/pilgrimage, business/theology focus, low vassal obligations etc.).

I believe that the only real bad thing about such a playstyle is that tech distribution might fuck me over since vassal counts don't generate tech points, but the tech spread from my capital might make up for it. Or it could keep them even more controlled since they get less techs to keep up with my own might.

This should work. Your vassals won't have enough power to fabricate claims outside of the kingdom, nor enough of a levy to actually enforce them.

I'm still experimenting with the best way to facilitate eugenics in the nobility. I always invite lowborn courtiers with positive congenital traits and then marry them to each other. I matrilineally marry my daughters to young bucks (always look for Strong or Genius if possible) and let them produce dynasty members that I then hand out land to. Not sure if I'm approaching this in the best way, but the ideal goal is to have well over half of the population with positive congenital traits within 100-200 years of the game's start. My main issue now is ensuring there isn't any inheritance overlap when I'm handing out landed titles to my superhuman stable of courtiers and then praying that their genius + strong wives don't die and they marry a hunchback.

The text also changes to reflect what the accused said. The first part until the "he stands accused of zina" is always the same but the text below it will tell you if he confessed, denied, or use any of the special options. If you are a Qadi you need to know before passing judgment.

Once executed, the Qadi won't be the one that's known to being the killer even if he's the one who decides the sentence. He's acting on the orders of his liege. I still need to think if I will deal with bribery, though someone who's imprisoned is really not in position of bribing anyone.


Technically, once someone confessed he shouldn't be spared. He should always be stoned to death, that's it. You wouldn't be flogged and banished, you'd be put to death. There's also no concept of "doubt" in old sharia, so he shouldn't just be flogged and released.

But seeing as actual punishment was also rarer because you can be free just by denying shit 4 times and you'd be considered innocent, and that doesn't happen here, you can be forgiven and escape with a minor punishment.
If someone committed a crime again after denying it he would probably be declared a takfir and executed, so I may just change this to a "one strike" policy: you can be free by denying it, but if you end guilty of any other crime you would become takfir and be executed.

I don't know, there's also the problem of someone who recognizes a bastard, he's basically admitting guilt.

Basically I want to have absolute power in the kingdom, everyone else being so weak that even if they get mad, they can't do shit on their own. If a stronger duke somehow gets mad, it could potentially be something more of a problem.

Several small counts would have to get mad enough to start a faction against me, and unless all 20 counts get mad, it's absolutely futile. Even then I should have a large retinue and personal levy, while the counts are so small they can't even build any retinues.

It also helps if I want to use a succession law that uses high ranking titles for voting (elective gavelkind/monarchy), I would be the only person who can actually vote, giving me total control over succession.

I was making this as a minimod for HIP, I like EMF but playing as a muslim and a christian feels too samey.
I couldn't imprison and execute adulterers and sodomites, even decadent members I could only banish. So I thought about doing something about it.

It's not about religious flavor, it's about differences in general. Shit feels and acts the same, if you cheat on your wife as a german duke or a bedouin emir, the results are the same. In game, it feels you are playing the same shit with a slightly different paint of color. While it's true that the german duke rules absolute in his land and his king wouldn't be able to do shit against him, the bedouin emir could be tried and killed by his actions.

CK2 focus too much on religion and only makes them slightly more different, while there were big cultural differences. For all that HIP does with the added flavor, I found that it doesn't really differentiate between cultures well. A spanish count plays almost, if not completly, the same as a german count.

Still having some problems getting people banished from your realm and the event chain isn't firing for some reason, but I finished the AI behavior on how they deal with sentences. They are usually inclined to pick up either execution or banishment, but being a good muslim, going on hajj and fighting in jihads, having high piety and the Qadi liking you and not having bad traits will help the character. If the Qadi is zealous or a Faqih though, you are probably fucked.

So you aren't killed out of the blue, the condemned gets an event with the result of the judgement.
