True. I'm glad they aren't afraid of using somewhat obscure parts of the lore. Order of the Hourglass haven't been a thing since bloody Daggerfall and then they popped up as the main antagonists in the Dark Brotherhood story.

I'm thinking about getting this game right about now and letting it install overnight. Is Gold Edition worth it? I want to play a mage and don't care about the thieves guild, only want the dark brotherhood for their robe, and feel indifferent about orsinium. Imperial city could be nice but I typically avoid pvp, though it might be different for this game. The way I see it I could either buy tamriel unlimited for 30€, drop another 20€ to get 3000 crowns, spend 2000 of them on dark brotherhood, spend 200 on the patriarch beard, and have another 800 left with no additional dlc. Or I could throw in the 50€ for gold edition and do the dlcs whenever I feel like it, even if it means I might never really touch them, then throw in the minimum amount of extra money to get enough crowns for my beard.

Or I could grab tamriel unlimited and go ESO Plus™ for a month and see how we do.

Am I overthinking this? Special editions confuse me.

Right now, stamina based abilities and weapons are stronger than magicka based ones in pretty much every aspect. And Eric Wrobel is the lead combat designer and responsible for the balance.

And the next patch will give stamina users even bigged buffs.

It's important to say tho that the imbalance between magicka and stamina probably aren't noticed by people who haven't reached end-game or do a lot of PvP, and before spring 2016 magicka users had been top dogs since the games release.

Originally it was, I think, some argument over balancing stamina so it could be on par with magic. Which was reasonable. So they proceeded to butcher hyrbids(stam/magic mix), made it so you have to put your points into all magic or all stamina if you want to do any sort of damage unless you're a tank. Now this wouldn't be so bad if the people they were listening to weren't a vocal minority, but they were. So stamina has been getting buffs non-stop for the last several updates while magic is getting nerfed and gutted in each one.

From a technical point, it's more that magic has a much much harder time since everything now is "big numbers? go stam and don't even try with only the barest knowledge of a rotation" but it's still technically viable for most pve content. pvp is just straight cancer like usual in regards to an mmo.

Eric "If you have a staff, I'll break it in half" Wrobel has just recently become the face of mage hate because he mentioned something about being in charge of balance and then OT hit pts and was nothing but stamina love.

I think I understand. This might not affect me since I don't actually intend to play this as my primary mmo, but rather as something in-between content draughts which FFXIV has a lot of and the like, which should be reasonable since this game has no sub and there's no real pressure. Sounds like it must suck for the dedicated mage players and pvpers though. I hope they fix it eventually.

Kothringi. What if they're both related, and Ogres are just Kothringi who somehow grew more resistant to physical trauma and diseases and emigrated out from Black marshes to all over Tamriel?

It would explain so much. Ogres being Kothringi that have a tendency to quickly evolve to suit their environment would explain why ogres in Wrothgar have fur while the ones in the south, including Black Marshes, don't. Both races are also fairly primitive, and have a tendency to show a lot of skin in their armour while utilizing pointy hats. We also know that ogres do art in their spare time and can use magic, just like the Kothringi.

Werewolf for stamina builds only, vampire for magicka builds mostly but can be useful for stam builds too (in PvP probably?). Vampire has passives that don't require the use the vampire skills and depends instead on your vampirism stage which is constantly active while the werewolf passives and skills are only available in werewolf form except the passive stamina regen from having the transformation ult slotted.

They've taken out legendary BoE gears from trials and put it at Adhazabi Aba-daro the Golden. They've moved it from one location to another, from trials to Cyrodiil. So if you want to make money then doing PvP is way more profitable than doing trials.

Producing is inefficient in regard with time spent per gold earned but the supply will need go very high before the selling price gets so low that it's not worth doing at all. So, you can always make gold picking flowers or gathering mats. On the other hand, buying and selling is the way you make millions but it's a zero-sum game. Every deal you find is a deal someone else is not getting to take advantage of. The more people there are going around scouring guild traders for good deals, the less deals each of them finds. Enlightening other players on how to make gold through arbitrage reduces your own profits.

In the best of worlds there'd be a few sentences with each balance change explaining why they did as they did. Adventure thingy allows you to play the race you want in the alliance you want.

Werewolf and vampire bites can be bought from people for like 5k gold or you can join a dedicated werewolf/vampire guilds to get infected for free.

Werewolves benefit stamina characters, vampires benefit magicka characters. They have their weaknesses and stuff too check the wiki about those stuff.

Elemental stuff is under destruction staff skill line, it is a weapon skill.

It gives you vampire sickness, then you go to vampire shrine and do the vampire initiation quest and earn your vampire ability bar. Active abilities aren't that great but passives are fairly useful, Dunmer Dragonknight tanks usually go as vampire and they basically become very hard to kill when they loose too much HP for example. Also vampires get magicka and stamina recovery, but they also get debuff to their HP regen and a terrible fire weakness. There are a lot of fire related end game content and many spell casting mobs will use fire on you so keep that in mind

Is 33k in resistance a soft cap or a hard cap? I've been planning on using "Unstoppable" with the "Armor Master" set but I'd go way beyond the 33k resistance cap, so I'm wondering if I gain anything by doing that or should I just swap out "Unstoppable" for another skill?

It's a hard cap but if you're doing PvP then going over the cap allows you to ignore armor/spell pen more I believe. If you have 55k armor/resist and someone has 22k armor/spell pen then you're still capped for armor/spell resist.

When I turned 50 I did a lot of skysharding in silver and gold zones with a Bosmer and then with a Dunmer. The Bosmer was easier but not by much.
Later I found some armor set called nightshade that gives a 2 meter reduction in detection radius. It also extends the duration of potions like invisibility. It would probably be helpful for sneaky missions.
