So lemme get this straight. I take the zip/vpk of Gundam Breaker 3 and put all the contents into a regular folder called "PCSH00208" within my ux0/patch directory, correct?

And DLC goes into a new folder called addcont_plain?
But which of my folders would that be? I installed GB3 as a vpk with Vitamin and it worked, but I see Mai files here.
Do I have to use Mai instead to get the updates/DLC?

however these 2 games were dumped before Maidumper

Totori and Digimon which were dumped today have DLC too and it works. (atleast for me)

Game only doesn't work. Putting the patch on the game's folder also doesn't work.
Merging both and installing as vpk or mai also doesn't work (fails while installing).

Japanese 3DS users threw a huge bitch fit and spammed negative reviews everywhere for AC:NL complaining they couldn't get it when it was sold out despite there being the digital version right there for cheaper. I know that Vita memory cards in typical use have an issue with different regions being saved to them.

Every time I open up a .VPK and repack it to .zip, then rename, it spits out a 0xFFFFFFFE error.

If its a Mai Dump, transfer it to your Vita using the PSP Save method then move it to ux0:\mai and install it with the MaiDumper

Otherwise just install it from a shell like you would any other VPK.

Btw, if you had the base game installed already, you don't have to reinstall using Mai at all. You can just throw the patch on it and it should be the latest version.

Then grab the MaiDump off of /r/vitapiracy.

Extract all the files, including the VPK.

Copy the patch files to the extracted game folder and overwrite everything.

Move your now patched game over to your VITA(be it PSP Save method or FTP) and install it with MaiDumper.
