There's also a property that keeps track of unit's chance to escape lost battle, but it's only used for allied units.

If battle was against tenshi sect: troops killed by player get decreased by 3000.

It's not a particularly hard game to code, you can make 100% of all that with templates available on any free engine out there.

So basically most of the hatred towards him seems to be coming from some people being frustrated by his poor translation of Fate/Stay Night. Some of his romanisation choices look really silly especially the Leazus one but this is something I can overlook. For a fantranslation I could even overlook a few dozens of mistranslated lines spread across the script as long as they don't fuck up something big. Stuff like talking about going to an orphanage with Kimchi/going to the Kimchi's orphanage doesn't really bother me.

Speaking of Leazus I wonder why nobody pointed it out back then. They had made several partial patches for SR and a ton of people played it while the translation was still incomplete. The problem with Takajun was more that his English isn't good enough for a smooth translation.

Which makes sense. He was a student in Japan at that time and his English is actually really good in terms of what he'd ever need to use it for.

A quality translation of prose requires the translator to be skilled at writing in both languages

I enjoyed playing SR with TakaJun's translation. I enjoyed playing Majikoi with (incomplete) TakaJun's translation. I didn't liked much FSN and Tsukihime in his translation. I highly doubt that I would liked them even if they had a better translator.

Seems a little contradictory to go "Did he fuck up any character's personality" and then just say "Oh, he improved Kentarou, that's fine.". Whether it's an improvement or not, changing a character's traits is off and goes against the original intent. That's really not a translation and more of a rewrite (a bit an unintentional one in this case), which is a really irksome point.
