I'm slowly going through all my ENB's of choice and optimizing each one as best I can and choosing the one that gives me the most FPS with a very decent level of quality and then further optimizing their nighttime and other lighting settings.

Unrelated, I'm still not sure how to get this khajiit to work. Glowing warpaint like some of the stuff witchcat pulls off would work. How do you even do stuff like that?

I think part of the problem is that a lot of the expression and variety in khajiit comes from the eyes, but her blind, closed eyes is a character feature I'm 100% committed to.

It's because the engine can only deal with so many light sources at a time, and the number is sadly pretty low. It's not a limit in general, but of ones in your field of view. Pretty much any interior ELFX touches adds more light sources, so you get that flickering as some turn on and off depending on where you're looking.

I believe you can, by doing some weird hard to get working right redirecting in enblocal.ini, in the same way you'd get SweetFX working. I may be wrong, though, I didn't know ReShade was a thing for Skyrim (or dx9 games in general).

Excellent. Got the afternoon off so I'm a happy camper.

This bug is due to a limitation in the game engine which only allows for 4 shadow-casting lights at a time within a proximity to the player. ELFX doesn't just change the imagespaces of a cell it also adds light sources (to things like candles) and moves some around (to properly eminate from the right location)

The vanilla lights were placed pretty carefully by the developers so that you are never within proximity to more than 4 lights at a time. With mods like ELFX or other mods that add new light sources your odds of going over that limit increase.

So what's happening here is as you move about the game is constantly swapping between different light sources based on which 4 are closest to you.

Someone came up with a way to circumvent this awhile ago with a script package called Just In Time (JIT) but I don't think any lighting mod is currently using them (Relighting Skyrim used to but afaik the new version is JIT free)

Part of me feels bad for PS4 owners.

Part of me doesn't give a crap because honestly, even if they had added it, it wouldn't have had SKSE (and thus, every single mod ever that relies on it) or any other external tools like LOOT, Mod Organizer, etc.

Is there a mod that enables headshots for archers? Is there a mod that makes changes the AI to be more defensive? Morrowind has no visual cues for when an NPC will turn around, making stealth difficult, whereas Skyrim has NPC schedules so you can know an NPC is doing something and is vulnerable, or more importantly, when they're leaving this state of vulnerability. Does Morrowind have a mod that brings this into the game? Morrowind lacks an active block feature, so it doesn't have any bashing mechanics, overhead mechanics, guardbreak mechanics, or anything of the sort short of knockdown. It also lacks perks (feats, if you're an tabletop nerd) that changes the uses of not only blocking but every other skill in the game.

Skyrim may not have Spellcrafting, but it foes have other features other games have grown somewhat outdated for lacking.
