Automaton has best girl Ada and has the quest sorta centered around her, though any generic robot you man can substitute, but why would you do that?
Fah Hahbah has Old Longfellow and is only really needed for one quest.

Cait is arguably the best waifu if you like your characters to actually grow through the game. She goes from not wanting to come with you, to grudgingly becoming you friend and encouraging all sorts of raider-lite activities, to confiding how she was basically trying to kill herself and her drug addiction is part of that. Once you cure her, she is loyal to you because you are her first true friend. If you romance her? Well, she's pretty adorable.

She actually has a character arc.

I actually have her set up in a pretty dress and a wedding ring in Covenant, with five heavily armed (gauss rifles and gatling lasers) guards and basically her own little paradise while I'm off doing Institute work. Best end.

...Now if only Dixie hadn't made me want some crazy.

For extra fun times, overwhelm and subdue Lorenzo; put him in a secret sealed cell with gen2 synths to do the work and tend to him. Remove his limbs, tongue and eyes, and deafen him, and put him in a medically induced coma... and live forever off a steady and permanent supply of syrum.

Automatron is early game, easily.

I would actually say slot Nuka World somewhere in the middle of your playthrough; after going to the Institute, but before choosing a faction. It allows you to consider the raiders on equal terms to the others, except lack of MQ application, and makes a nice interlude. Plus, if you go too late, you trivialize the content.

Far Harbor I feel actually makes a really nice capstone to the game. You get one final adventure with Nick (if you are playing ti properly), and a little interaction with you chosen faction too.

I wonder if a gen3 synth would be enough to fool Lorenzo artifact, creating a gen3 synth without arms or legs would be easy enough, restructure the bioscience division to be a safe vault for the thing, and you could have unlimited vials without the danger of capturing Lorenzo alive.

You can turn against the institute later in the game, join the railroad and destroy the brotherhood, after that defect to the institute and wipe out the railroad, the trick part is that if you attack the institute without being the minuteman general you will be just teleported outside, but perhaps nuka world changed that.

Just speaking meta, that's precisely why you would use the Operators (giving them a detailed layout). While they attack and slaughter everyone, you can 'protect' the Board, and seem to be on their side right up until teleporting you away is a long gone option. I wouldn't want to completely empty the Institute anyway, just make sure there is no one left to oppose me. It might even be better to 'save' them after everyone with a shred of influence is dead. You just need total control; the syrum makes you damn hard to kill anyway, so most traditional assassination attempts would fail.

I would also be wary of trying to use the crown on anyone, as we don't know if Lorenzo just put it on, or what. We don't have enough details to risk out immortality juice. Better to render him no threat, have him guarded by disposable bodies that won't be tempted, and keep it simple.

I've really thought this through, as it's basically my Director's roadmap. Except he plans to 'rule' by living a long time, as my plans were thought up before Nuka World was an option.

As for the rest, once the overseer is dead you can use all the vault stuff to build in your normal settlements, you can even build something like a vault above ground in any settlement.

There is a option in the Shaun terminal to shut down or reactivate all synths in a emergency situation, as the director I could use that to give the operators enough time to kill everyone in the institute, later I can just reactivate the synths and use them to wipe out the raiders.

I am aware that I would need extra hands to run the institute, but I am too paranoid to leave anyone alive, better to program some gen3 synths to take care of the maintenance, and if course without the stupid "I wanna be a real boy" Pinocchio crap that guy in robotics was injecting in each synth.

Synths are the perfect tools, nothing more.

To be fair, keeping Lorenzo shouldn't be that hard, even if you didn't want to render him harmless as I think is safest. His son, a soldier-butler, and some Gunners had been managing for decades, and the family centuries before that.

The Institute could literally swarm him and have a Gen1 grab him, teleport him into a sealed room like the one where he was before, and boom. Practically done. The Institute has nearly limitless resources, limitless manpower with synths, and you could build as many layers of safety as you wanted.

My biggest issue is I inherently distrust Gen3 synths. Far too much room for error. I personally think they were a mistake. They should have stuck with Gen2's, and returned the focus back to cybernetics. That's what the Institute under my rule would do. Fuck Shaun's dreams.

The first rank is just 20% damage but the ones after that give you bonus shit, for instance with rank 5 of the auto one you stagger niggers, coupled with kiloton radium rifle, spray and pray or the homemade rifle you fuck people

It's pretty buggy, it'll use up a fusion core to zero and still have unlimited ammo with a bottomless clip but once you start moving the cores around in your inventory it starts bugging out.

That would be cool, cept for the fact that things in this game can't stack infinitely. That is, there's no tracker or whatever, only perks. And perks don't stack. So I'd have to write a lengthy if-else pile of shit.

That said, the current effect is similar to something I already have.

But it's the best Idea I've had yet. Another one is that equipping the gun slows your speed to a crawl, but I haven't figured out what benefit to give it.

Alright so I tested it with power armor and it works, I would just keep one core in the armor and then two in your inventory for the gun. Have a follower hold on to extra cores for your armor otherwise the gun will drain them all. This was with all 3 ranks of Nuclear Physicist so that could be fucking with it too, I'm not sure.

This thing is fucking retarded but it's also ridiculously strong, I'd take the charging barrels off since you don't need to worry about ammo conservation anyway.

Somewhere around 600+ hours in it, compared to 400+ in Fallout 3, and around 100 in 1+2 combined.

Fallout 3, and 1+2, beat New Vegas hands down in every aspect aside from combat and faction management.
The lack of proper guards, few interesting locations, and abysmal "character" in that I felt far too many tricks were missed in the production of New Vegas.
Fallout 3 may have been a mess at times, but I found the darker and cluttered theme far more entertaining than New Vegas.

I understand that Fallout needed a risk, in that cities and sewers were getting old for a lot of casuals, but Vegas missed the mark badly. It was simply not vast enough, I wanted huge swathes of unmarked desert with small piles of interesting scrap/bobbleheads/skeletons and bots hidden in day long treks.
What I got was a pile of rocks, with settlements I could easily miss or forget almost on top of each other, without any of the dark clutter which made Fallout 3's scale manageable.

When I got to Rivet city and the Hub, I felt a sense of achievment, this was just meh.

My personal opinion is that New Vegas was designed heavily around casual/console play, which I appreciate as far as keeping a series alive, but anyone who considers themselves a true Fallout player who invests a fair amount of time/money into this game (assuming 98% of this thread), can't honestly say they were not underwhelmed by New Vegas.

Only cool part were the Legion, and even then, there was barely any interaction available. Hell, no slaving even? A slaving nation appears, and it's the only game since 1 to not have at least a slaving related mission.

The NCR makes extensive use of railways at the time of NV, you just don't see it in-game.
Talon Company and Gunners have working trucks, APCs, and battle tanks, you just never see them move in-game. FO4 has a random encounter with a few "peaceful" Gunners and a tank appearing where there was none before, though.

Well, having played FO2 until my brain leaked out and having enjoyed FO1 enough, I've played through NV more times than any other FO game. Meanwhile in NV you can sneak straight to Vegas through the quarry, which I have watched someone totally new to the series accomplish.

I just felt the whole chasing Benny thing missed the mark, like the rest of the game, because the epic hunt/quest was only a few hours/locations in total.
Finding your dad in Fallout 3 was infinitely better, with Megaton being pricks about it, Rivet city, the simulation in the vault, brotherhood influence etc. I just felt the game was more rewarding overall than New Vegas spoonfeeding me a brief road filled with boring and similair characters which often only had one possible resolution other than combat.

I wanted more fiends, a few more unaffiliated raiders, roaming super mutant groups, some slavers, camps for most of these, hell, maybe even some travellers from various other areas of the wasteland, maybe even couriers who check the drop boxes?

Look at the man-power it takes to keep current Earth on track, Fallout doesn't have that, people will get out of hand, chase half assed dreams, lose their minds on drugs, drink until death, shoot at anything they see, wander for weeks on end, and decide to up and leave everything they know for a dream of something better.

Vegas felt overly uniform. Too predictable, and too ordered. I just wanted some old-school fallout fuckery, corrupt guards, shootings over nothing, failed speech checks being death-sentences etc.

I feel it had none of that.

New Vegas did not feel that way, I felt that the whole game was controlled, and I play Fallout for a taste of absolute nightmare of post-apocalyptic living, and all the highs, lows, and laughs which come with that imagination.

Arguably Fallout 4 as well. I think post post apocalyptic is pretty interesting in its own way, too. Radiation is almost completely gone, but the fauna has changed forever. Insects are giant still, molerats and Deathclaws have formed a new ecosystem, molerats breeding out of control is controlled by deathclaws adapting to digging for them and eating them, most animals like Brahmin have grown back their fur, but still have two heads, and human cities are all made of new concrete instead of scrap metal and wood. Most pre war buildings are completely leveled for parts...

And most ghouls and feral ghouls are extinct with the exception of a handful. Super mutants are rarer than they've ever been.

It was awesome that first playthrough back when it was groundbreaking, but this is retrospective. Comparitively, the "cities" in 3 were pathetic. They didn't feel like safe havens. They felt like another in a long series of shacks with some bored NPCs inside.

You look at NV in a bizarre way. New Vegas was a haven, guarded by the deadliest robots in the wastes. It shined in the distance from the start of the game. It's main route of entrance was overrun with Deathclaws and Caz adores that a low level character couldn't hope to kill. The settlements along the way we're constantly under threat from the Legion and Raiders and we're desperate for aid by the time you arrived - or just outright charnel houses which displayed how truly fucked the wastes were.

Meanwhile, Fallout 3 had nothing except for a hole in the ground, a derelict boat, and a broken Pentagon for cities with no active threats against them. They didn't present themselves as fortresses, they were just immune to mob pathing. They didn't have desperate citizens hiding from malicious enemies or well armed guards massacring anything that came too close.

The people inside barely reflected the safety of their circumstance. They didn't talk about how much better it was to be in the boat than the wastes. It had no fucking weight.

I'm reasonably certain you can talk to Rivet City inhabitants about how bad it is outside, and how they only live in a shitty, damp wreck because the one thing it has going for it is big metal walls.
In Megaton, most of the inhabitants are permanent and established, and so are complacent in their new life. No wonder they don't lament about how lovely it is to live there to every passer by. Everyone else is just a vagrant, and they DO mention how much they'd like to live in the safety of Megaton.
Most of the "big" settlements are well established in areas that are advantageous, and so don't have to worry too much about the toils of daily survival.
Even then, the one settlement that sticks out to me is the one on top of the highway that get fucked over by cannibals. Also, the town that's invaded by giant flame ants and leaves only a single survivor.

As for the woman on the boardwalk, she's old, knows how to use a gun, and knows how to work with raiders. She literally sells them guns and food, as is evident in Broken Steel.

Not completely defending it, there are definitely problems, but it's not all that bad. I also haven't played the game in ages, so there's definitely stuff I'm missing.

Not sure how bothered I am about path-finding. I prefer written encounters like the powder gangers in Goodsprings.
In one of my playthroughs, a Cazador flew directly into Goodsprings and murdered a shitload of people. They're not even meant to fly that far south.

There's a Pipboy glitch with Nvidia cards and a graphical glitch in Cola Cars, Bottling Plant and Dry Rock Gulch with enlarged Nuka Cola bottles tearing through the screen.

Look, I'm not saying Fallout 3 is completely without merit. It was really good at the time and, with mods, it holds up decently.

However, it is blatantly lying to say it had a better game world than New Vegas. Everything about the Mojave felt better. It had a better atmosphere, better towns and cities, better NPCs, and more believability in the threats everyone faced.

By the time you hit level 30 in Fallout 3, you were a god amongst men who could easily dispatch any threat the wastes provided, thus making the cities seem pointless and dumb.

In New Vegas, at level 30, you'd still shit your pants and run from a Radscorpion. It was a tremendous relief to get to New Vegas because you might not get raped to death by giant wasps there.

To add onto this, Bethesda said even before Skyrim came out that starting with Skyrim they planned to do less, but larger, story DLCs, since the Fallout 3 DLC schedule was a hetic mess that they didn't enjoy, and many people complained about them being too small/short, and they wanted more expansion pack sized DLC.

And they did exactly that, Dawnguard and Dragnborn were each over double the size of the Fallout 3 DLCs.

And Far Harbor is larger then either of them. Nuka World is not quite as large as Far Harbor, but still as large as Dawnguard or Dragonborn.

Both Skyrim and Fallout 4 got just as much, if not more, total story DLC content then Fallout 3 did, and more then NV did since NV only had 4 story DLC.

With lots of mods and WoC on max settings survival is rough, but fun. Its tough at first but gets progressively easier as time goes by and now at around level 100 I am just finishing far harbor, and not quite to goodneighbor portion of the main quest, just after the chasing dogmeat part. I run around in PA full time now or I get one shotted by just about everything. endurance 2 thanks to Bobblehead. Went full int/chr build and the most useful thing I ever run across is enemy bots while wandering around because its free cannon fodder.

I would not fucking dare play survival while doing a endurance or melee run, that would be masochistic with the one shotting you get from enemies. I wish endurance helped more for that or I would do survival with a melee build next game, but I hear endurance/skills does fuck all to keep you alive.

The trick to survival is beds, know where one is when you know shits going to hit the fan, and use beds religiously (3 hours per rest minimum) when you are doing a long hours of settlement building. Aint nothing fucks up your night more than a doing a shit ton of work for 2 or 3 hours trying to get your settlement just rigth and having a random crash throw it all out the window. Get lots of sleep.

After a while antibiotics, food and water become routine, no big thing. The damage boost goes both ways so combat actually becomes easier. I would not fuck with it on a melee build though, too squishy.

Gonna do Nukaworld next, before joining my son at the institute to take over the commonwealth.

I liked DM very much it has a good story and it's a good escape from the do whatever you want stuff to a "here. let us test your skills" type of shit. Having locked in to do a story was a nice change for me. There are some nice skill checks in there with various ways to do your thing. Atmosphere was also excellent overall with the prewar tech stuff. 8/10

If you can get that kind of humor then it's good, otherwise that's exactly why you won't like it. However interesting things are present including the world of Big MT + the sink. 7/10

It has some interesting stuff happening, but it's nothing extraordinary. There are a few nice items, etc. 5/10.

The NV DLC suffer from extreme versions of the major problems in Obsidian's writing, in that they have no ability to not be stupidly over heavy handed in their "messages".

Resulting in an experiance that could be fun otherwise becoming a chore as it turns into nothing but the developers preaching to you for 5 hours about some high school level social commentary everyone who has gone outside veer knows.

Its not fun, its not intelligent, its not entertaining, and they take it so far all of their characters become one dimensional caricatures because of how obvious it is they are just using them as a soapbox.

Lonesome Road and Dead Money are basically Operation Anchorage level railroaded, and Honest Hearts has exploration, but Obsidian has never really been good at designing background world stuff, so that all falls flat.

The only DLC thats even remotely fun to explore is OWB, because its one of the few times were we see Fallout's 1950's inspired technology taken to the extreme.

I agree that Obsidian has a narrow perspective on writing and they're serious all the time (I had a problem with this too), but I didn't really care much about the game in that way; I kinda accepted it as it is and when that's enough I play the game if it's not then I don't. Certain aspects usually get me then I don't give a shit about others.

There were things in FNV where I said "This is interesting." or "This is quite good." to myself which FO3 kinda lacked. There were better choices too. FO4 doesn't even seem to have any complex quests or any really interesting stuff. The only interesting thing was the institute/synths but you can easily find everything out about them.

If you're only interested in real life level case study characters then sure a lot of things can get very shit/boring for you, but honestly FNV was still good enough as a new FO game to have a high rating in my perspective. Maybe I'm not expecting a supreme level of story in an open world game anymore, although I like the sandbox aspect more.

While going through the Dry Rock Gulch I realized that the stuff added by Nuka World could really easily be recycled to do a remastered NV. Someone should start a petition or some shit to Bethesda and Obsidian so they just rehash it 1:1 in the new engine, maybe with a few settlements for comfy desert home on the range.

Not him, but, testing for the unoffical Fallout 4 patch shows no such bug ever existed.

vertibirds above level 20 are just REALLY REALLY RARE, for reasons not even Arthmoor can figure out.

He even removed the bug from the unoffical fallout 4 patch tracker becuase, from what he can tell, everything is set up correctly, higher level vertibirds just don't spawn very often for whatever reason.

Help, I'm an idiot.

I'm using BodySlide for the first time, I managed to get CBBE with Ida Body Texture and the Poison CBBE Preset working, but I cannot for the life of me get Unique Player to work. I enjoy the tits and ass and all but having it on all females is too much. The mod creates separate folders for the player's textures and meshes, but I don't know what to put in those folders. Do I have to find the output of what BodySlide built and put all the armor skins in there? How do I do it so that after I use BodySlide to reset all the bodies to vanilla, that I keep the look of my own CBBE preset on my character? I just don't understand.

Neither of those statements are actually true. Modders have done nothing to change the way conversations work - you still get four options, each labeled question, good, bad, sarcastic/neutral. All that mod does is just present the full string up front. This is coded into the engine and the CK - there is no changing it beyond that.

That's spurious, and has nothing to do with your earlier post. You wanted the Fo3/FNV-style skills system, which just isn't possible with the current code from which we have access to the binaries. I'd say far harbor and nuka world are about equal with honest hearts, but they both are sort of bland.. I mean they aren't too different from the commonwealth in term of location.. Serra madre, the pit, Big MT, Ashton/long 15 (lonesome road really felt foreign and scary)
and even Zion all felt like they were new far away locations because they were... Far harbor and Nuka world are literally only a mile away and you can return and restock, and even give up when ever you want.

So you are basically getting two less theme heavy honest hearts, like imagine if honest hearts didn't have has much tribal nature stuff going on, that is nuka world and far harbor in my opinion.

Or you could be the god damn descendant of the vault dweller with his vault 13 suit and pistol.

Gun runner's arsenal was just a shit ton of classic and bad ass guns, modifications, and ammo types.

I'm glad floaters are gone. Second worst enemy in the series, beaten only by Wanamingos. Anyway, they'd all be dead by the time the later games came around, not to mention they wouldn't exist in the east.

Centaurs being cut is pretty sad. They would've been gnarly as hell. Doesn't really make sense to have them though.

In 1 and 2, they were made by The Master dumping multiple species into liquid FEV vats. In 3, they were the product of multiple humans in gaseous FEV chambers mutating together.
One can assume that the Institute, as scientists, kept very tight controls over their experiments. The vats we see in the Institute are only built to house a single creature anyway.

I'd honestly prefer to see a mutant FEV Deathclaw.

Alright, this rounds out More Uniques. No matter how good of an Idea I have, no more.

Anyways, the weapon now has a time tracker so you can only leave 10 seconds between shots if you wanna get the final shot bonus. There's also a little sound that plays when you get the full charge, it's great.

I'm trying to get a CBBE preset working for my character alone and not all female models in the game. I understand that Unique Players ( http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3718/? ) is pretty much the only mod that can make this happen. Unarmed, Stealth, and Energy Weapons were all overpowered as fuck in New Vegas.
I only play on Very Hard, and even on my intelligence 2 character I was two hitting baby deathclaws by level 12 with a ballistic fist.
Can also clear out the whole legion camp and Caesar from cotton cove, at level 10.

This is unarmed without stealth, stealth is even more broken.
Stealth + Energy weapon crit melts is the biggest pile of steaming shit ever created.

New Vegas was far closer inline with 1 and 2 than Fallout 3. To the point where it was practically a direct sequel, and Fallout 3 could have been passed off as a spin-off. Even a different series completely.

Please someone fire these fallout 4 concept artists everything is either too extremely streamline and outdated for a game set in the late 2200's or too fucking mutated for a semi realistic wasteland.

A centuares should look like what happens when you stuff a bunch of humans ghouls dogs and other shit into a vat of FEV goo, not an alien.

Trains and tanks in fallout 4 should look like futuristic vehicles from the 60's and 70's like the rest of the vehicles not these world war 2 failed concepts that look like the operate even worse then the vehicles of the actual 1940's

I remember almost all of the weapon mods being Millenia HD weapons that were great, but always too clean and graphically seemed to fit into battlefield rather then fallout, nifskoped shit made by new modders, and weeb anime guns from the future.
