Just because ekko is the biggest abuser doesnt mean that it wont be broken on other champions.
Ekko has really helped the riot balance team figure out what where the problems in the meta by using him as a base line.

When Frozen Gauntlet and Sunfire Cape were being built on ekko they nerfed those items because they were broken on everyone not just him.

AP Ekko was fine because it has actual weaknesses even when he has the most overloaded kit around, Tank was not as it gave him optimal damage output while making him virtually unkillable and mobile as hell.

Shitters group the two together because "Lol its all cancer" and they have no clue how to build around a new threat. No one complained when AP ekko was finally balanced, people complained when tank Ekko existed

As far as Riot's concerned Trinity Force IS the problem, it's single handedly hyper buffed 7 champions all of whom got individually nerfed in one way or the other to make the change ultimately pointless. So now we have a Trinity force that isn't built for certain champions anymore but is extremely strong on others.

The heal was added in during the rework because he couldn't sustain at all while Garen, Morde, and Skarner all had forms of sustain.

And if reddit would tell you "he was balanced because he lacked healing!" Darius needed some way to stay in-lane that was reliable so either they made him bulkier or gave him a shitty heal. Granted it was overpowered when it was released but after a series of nerfs, Darius is viable but overall the heal doesn't do much other than give him something to work with. Darius pre-rework was outdated and simply didn't hold his own to what was needed to fight in top-lane. He still holds his own as a solid early-game bully that falls off late-game, only now he isn't 100% useless late-game.

I can actually poke to dead (or low enough till I hit lvl 6 to melt) most tops, but Irelia is a really bad match. cause if I try hard to poke her, ill run out of mana and be too close to her.

Like I said, doesnt work against people who aren't retarded. If a bruiser can stay alive until first back/lvl6 t he lane is more less over for vel'koz, or pretty much any mage for that matter.
If you're picking vel'koz into Irelia don't bother trying to win the lane, farm what you can and look to roam. When she gets trinity group mid as five, Irelia doesn't thrive as much against a full team than she does when picking people off. Plus if you're Vel'koz top, and you have another mage mid you have wave clear for days.

As a side note, there are lot's of top laners who have some sustain/shielding mechanic

You're missing the entire point, anon.

You're fighting Darius in lane, either he is punishable by being less bulky and having a heal he can miss, OR, he is a straight up unkillable thing in lane. You can call it cancer all you want but the fact of the matter is Darius' heal was absolutely needed for him to even exist in the current meta against what current champions can do.

Illaoi is exactly the same regard: Juggernaut who can self heal off of tentacle slams but isn't a tank because she can be blown up relatively quickly.

Thats how juggernauts work: Self sustaining bruisers who have limited to no mobility and virtually no CC (With exceptions such as Skarners ult or Darius' hook) So when you tell me Darius doesn't need the heal, you want him gutted. Thats basically how it is, he isn't THAT bulky even when full tank. Even late-game 6 item Darius while being bulky can still be blown up relatively quickly, as can all juggernauts. Here's exactly what would happen late-game on old Darius:

He'd go in, maybe flash to hook the carry and hopefully get his 5 stacks off, then get targetted, CC'd and die before his bleeds could reach max stacks and then start dunking. He had 0 way of sustain when his job was to be IN the fight. Old Darius literally had aatrox-tier teamfighting. Remove the heal and he might as well be Aatrox with an execute, that's not balanced thats dog-shit. Dog-shit isn't good.

Morello was right about healers like soraka but pockets of being able to self-sustain are not hurtful to the game when they don't ultimately make it overbearing like Kindred or Olaf.

I explain myself wrong. is not about not being able to kill the other one.

is that once killed. as a Mage , I do shit damage to towers. so going all the way up to a tower to do scraps of damage is just suicide. so my job on top is mostly try to get kill and stall thier top from getting kills or roaming

works most of the time. having an Fiora or Darius or whatever perma locked camping Top is good for team fights mid. bot. and if they leave, even if as VK I can do to much to towers, the wave clear ensure winions will do it for me
