Not him, but for me I kind of like grindy games as long as it has something to keep me interested, DD does that to me, Blue classes and magick archer/assassin are fun, it feels amazing lure an elder ogre in bbi to a small room and spam ricochet hunter then kill the other one running and using ninefold arrow or simply fulminate him to death or go head on against it. It's the variety what keeps me hooked to this.

I switched to Magic Archer on NG+ after doing a mostly Sorceror/Mystic Knight playthrough, and now I'm level 109 or so but I feel like I barely do any damage at all. I have the lv.1 Bitterblack weapon and everything, but I only have about 900 magic with it.

Thing with magic archer is, that his bow is pure magic damage. And every bow skill has another element.
Sixfold happens to be ice. That's probably why you deal shit damage.

Don't rely on regular shots, they are kind of shit unless you get dragon's tempest or blackwing bow.
Great Ward Arrow + Magic Rebalancer always
Ricochet Hunter in small rooms
Spam sixfold/ninefold arrow, the magic rebalance boost helps
Use 6 or 7 times explosive rivet on an enemy with more than one hp bar, like a gorechimera or the such and attack it.

MA is useful but you need to think before attacking.

Right after I made the post I read the wiki and learned that Three/Six/Ninefold Bolt are Ice-type. Still, I feel I do little damage to things that aren't ice-resistant.

Also I've just reached Grand Soren in NG+ so my only option for dragonforging without fucking around in BBI is the Drake in Devilfire Grove and iirc it's only like a 17% chance

The magick bows you get from bbi lvl 1 weapons aren't anything special and can actually be bought in the base game.
Just kill the dragon to get a good bow until you get one from lvl 2 or 3.

Not him but any of those two options work, there are also several dragons in bbi pre and post daimon so you could try there too if you don't want to go post-game yet, if bbi still fucks you up you could also simply speed run your way on bbi to open the chests and see if you get some luck with a lvl 2 bow, which can give dragon's tempest, the 2nd best magick bow in the game.
I have s 165 MA and the damage input is not that great by simple attacks, but using skills on the right way can be deadly, like using ricochet arrow against an elder ogre on a small room.

I'm level 109 or so so I can defeat most small mobs but I can't really deal with the necrophagus enemies (whereas I could on my previous Mystic Knight). Even on that playthrough (which my MA is a NG+ of) I basically had to GTFO whenever Death showed up.

I'm not really sure if I could get past the Gazer at this point. Is Explosive Rivet worth using over Magickal Gleam? I have Ricochet Hunter although it's actually not very useful in the mainland and Sixfold Bolt.

So I'm level 59 and in NG+ how do I prepare for BBI? Should I refrain from killing Grigori again? I'm using a friend's level 109 pawn.

So new player here , i started as strider and from 15 i changed to assassin now i'm 31 and i want to try magic archer can i go straight to it or should i play some levels as sorcerer to built some magic damage ? .I dont want to min/max it but i want to make decent damage

You don't really need to minmax too much unless you're an autist as endgame equips will more than make up the difference.

Building up your magic stat as a Sorceror for several levels will definitely help you out, though. Mage and Sorceror also have useful augments if you're planning on going Magic Archer.

Gleam is better than rivet but rivet is good for building up damage for starters or against fire-weak enemies, since you are 109 gleam works better on bbi but both work fine.
Ricochet hunter is a must on bbi, I can take down most of necro mobs spamming that without any problem but you can switch it out in the mainland.
To deal with the Gazer just use Great Ward Arrow to avoid any ailment for you or your pawns, Magic rebalancer for boosts and hit the gazer sixfold arrow and regular shots, it's gonna be a long fight, but an easy one. Also keep moving while shooting to avoid the tentacles coming from the ground.

How much harder are escort quests in hard mode? Do the NPCs have any more defense than on normal or would 2-shots become guaranteed 1-shots instead?

Yes, kill grigori to get his magic bow. Then try to get it dragon forged somehow. Maybe you can catch the ur dragon during a grace.
It's the best magick bow before bbi. Both bows that come from bbi lvl 1 weapons are worse. Well ,one is the next best thing after grigoris bow(Dragon's quickening), but there's still a big gap between them.
The other is way behind(Heralds helix)
I don't know why they didn't make a bbi lvl 1 exclusive weapon for magick bow.

Can anyone who plays DDO tell me what priests do? I've watched some videos but can't really see what they do or how they do it. Are they aura-based healers? Do they channel their aura from themselves to allies like fulmination? I keep seeing videos of priests with two auras, one smaller, one larger, and then some kind of rune circle or something. What's the significance of that?

Priests are healers, they can cast anodyne which heals you quickly or keep an aura up that heals slowly. They are by far the best healer class in the game and have an obscenely powerful charge holy spell that can shrek EM1.

when does Dragon's Dogma begin to be fun?

I heard knights were a boring class, so I picked ranger. I heard the game had great gameplay/combat but the rest wasn't that good. I was fine with that proposal.

The problem is that so far the combat seems to be about spamming the main attack, sometimes using those skills, but it isn't remotely deep or challenging to me. Also the lack of leveling and making builds really make it feel lacking so far.Archery isn't that good either, it's hard to describe but it's nothing special so far.

I also dislike the whole focus on crafting, getting materials all the time, mining, and the fetch 10 rat tails quest, they remind me of MMORPG shitty content.

Well, the main story is actually pretty short if you rush it, so you could get there in maybe an hour or two, especially if you have some portcrystals placed around.
And if you kept the wyrmking's ring you can just make another forgery and end that quest before even fighting salomet.
It's pretty funny that they don't have any checkpoints for most stuff like that.

I'm not saying you absolutely need it, but it would probably be nice to get dragon's breath from grigori until you get lucky and get one of the bows from lvl 2 or 3 weapons.

What's the best party for mystic knight, im at my 1st hard and game run.

1-15 fighter, 15-50 sorcerer, 50-100 assassin, Im at level 100 and planning to go mystic knight all the way.

I did that with mystic knight as well because of their shitty offense stat growth and I fucking hated it, I really wanted to play mystic knight but I actually wanted to do damage.

On the other hand, I had a great warrior pawn as my personal pawn, a dedicated healer I hired that was pretty decent but a lot lower level than me (but I never found a replacement), and a sorcerer with mostly the huge spells. It worked really well. But honestly? It depends entirely on what pawns you can find to hire, some are total trash even if they're the class you want.

I have a question:

when DD had just recently come out on PC, when i would try to use more than one mod they would overwrite each other, i.e. the last mod you "installed" would be the only one active. Is this still the case, is it fixed, do I need to follow some special procedure to use multiple mods?

Well I did the seneschal thing which was outrageously easy to get and easy to do and it turns out I basically ended the game early? Why do I always get fucked for wanting to experience games without looking up stuff first? Most of the time there's an option to go back before the "final fight", but I didn't believe the usual warning was going to be literal. It wasn't for Grigori anyway. Fuuuuuuck I don't want to redo the 60 hours of pre-dragon game.

Also, yeah, there's alot of shit to miss in this game. But i guess thats one of the points of the game and why it's relatively short. learning new stuff each cycle and optimizing your shit.

Do bbi, try different classes, get a different beloved (or at least try to get the one you wanted this time), explore everything, do subquests, etc.
There's a lot of stuff to do without moving that much in the story, and even so you speedrun that in 2 hours of less if you know what to do (or check the wiki of you don't)

If you rushed the game and are underleveled, you might want to hunt some wakestones on the everfall before trying bbi though

I have 68 hours in steam,. around lvl 120, on the third playthrough.
finished it once on normal and then on hard mode. Did a speed run.
Now trying to get through bbi the second time.
I don't even know what you do that long on the first playthrough, without doing bbi. but with 168 quests completed he probably did every notice board quest, including 'from a different sky'. even then, that's a lot of time.

I did a good amount of BBI runs that I guess just amounted to wasted time since I wasn't strong enough to get past the giant eyeball creature. Did get some good and useful loot though. Also spent a lot of time just aimlessly exploring, but I did do most of the notice board quests. I had been taking it all in slowly because I was expecting double what happened to be the actual map size. Usually this kind of game is a one-time experience for me, but seeing that there's more than signifigant incentive to try NG+, I don't really have a reason not to. I'll just try it later I guess. Give myself some distance so it will seem somewhat fresh again. I locked myself out of several questlines unintentionally so I'll definately be trying those before I can properly get to the postgame stuff again.

Does the pawn gain stuff from other players still when I've completed the game?

if you're talking about NG+ then nah, you just start the story again from the level you were when you finished, all your items will be in storage etc.
you can remake your arisen and pawn completely aswell, but they'll retain their stats/levels/etc

As for the chainmail sleeves, no cloth chest wrap for her torso with certain mods and normal circlet was chosen over laurel because my pawn at the time was using it, so I kept them separate for two different styles.
The laurel looked better on both but the normal circlet didn't look so good on my other set up, so she ended up with it since it looked fine on her

Get better weapons and armor. Hit stuff until it dies. Post pawns and arisen

Grinding is easy, weapons are good enough to keep you up no matter the class you use, pawns actually do damage and help instead of being just a burden or chip damage dealers, there's a crapload of ways to kill an enemy, most of them work fine and there are lots of useful skills that pretty much break the game.
Just give it some time, this game doesn't really need you to git gud although it would help if you do.
Also pay attention the pawns' suggestions, especially hired ones.

I think I'm gonna play as mystic knight, what kind of pawnfu would work best? I'd like to only have one.

A question:

I want to minmax my character but I don't want to go the autistic route of having to carefully manage the vocation I'm using every level up so I can minmax my character.

Is there a way to set the attribute values directly so I can just play normally and only bother with stats when I'm max level?

Extremely nu player here, am I fucking up if I level too much as a fighter when I'd rather be a mystic knight? I'd prefer doing sidequests as I find them but I'm level 10 just after killing the hydra and I don't know how far in the vocation npc is.

Make the ideal MA at level 200 in the character planner thing in the OP.

Play MA, every 5 levels adjust your stats as though you'd been playing "10 levels of assassin, then 5 levels of blah" etc. Silly stat growths shouldn't be an impediment to having fun.
