I only installed the diffuse maps. It made me realize how low res and blurry the vanilla brows are, I guess I'll need a replacer for them.
It looks nice, a bit doll-like maybe. The grimy version is well, grimy, but it doesn't make the textures more natural.

So, I've been trying wildcat 5.0. Just gonna dump my autistic mini-criticism here, might send it to Enai. I like it, but for all it does well there's some problems with it.

First and foremost, staggering. You can get staggered fairly easily, and said staggering is pretty bad (~2secs in place, helpless). While tolerable in 1v1 combat (minus a few bullshit scenarios) you can get absolutely fucked by groups, even weaker opponents.
While you may excuse this by saying "well multi-opponent combat SHOULD be hard", and you'd technically by right, it doesn't feel like the right kind of difficult. There's a difference between dying to multiple opponents because you weren't being attentive or using mechanics right, and dying because you got staggered by one enemy's shield bash (even if you were blocking) and stood helpless as a bunch of dudes with greatswords staggerlocked your sorry ass to death.
It's worth mentioning that you can set back things to vanilla stagger, which more or less solves this issue. That said, I think Enai should fix stagger so that it depends on your character. My heavy armor-wearing, tall and heavy orc warrior shouldn't be staggered for long by most attacks. My relatively middleweight, robe-wearing altmer mage, however, should get staggered hard by attacks.

A more minor complaint is the timed blocking feature, and while I love parry mechanics, wildcat's is flawed. The window is fairly generous (1 second) for just minor stagger for the opponent and some reduced damage (i.e. still screwed if your opponent is higher leveled and you're on low health). It's also noteworthy that timed-blocking a power attack will stagger both you and the opponent, preventing you from capitalizing on reading your opponent.
The one in ultimate combat is a smaller window (0.3 secs) but blocks out ALL damage even if it was a power attack. I find this to be better implemented because the high-risk high-reward element makes the combat much more focused on skill and timing.

On the note of low health and getting fucked by high-level/multiple opponents, there's the injury system, which is random and fairly debilitating. To top it off, these injuries come when you hit low health, when the last thing you need is a handicap preventing you from turning the tide of battle. It's kind of hard to kite high level opponents with a foot injury and heavy stagger, hard to heal myself with no mana from a head injury, and getting a spine injury not letting me shout a group of opponents away. I've always complained that other than timed blocking ultimate combat didn't have much of a comeback feature and that your early-fight momentum counted for a lot. It's even worse with wildcat with this injury system, that can make one little slip devastating and make it quite difficult to get back up without spamming healing potions. At that point it becomes a measure of "better stock up on healing potions or set up a bunch of healing spells in smartcast" rather than getting out of a bad situation with tactics.
Personal opinion, but I think that injuries should be locational and random/depending on the power of the attack, but less debilitating. Combine this with a timed block feature closer to ultimate combat and a better stagger system and you no longer have to worry about getting unlucky/getting fucked by an unexpected or minor factor and being unable to make a comeback.

Now wildcat has a lot of things going for it. Agressive AI, lightweight scrips, and all those nice little changes that come with combat mods. But it's got some problems you can't ignore.

And now for the point of these posts, getting the opinions of /tesg/. How do you guys feel about wildcat and how does it compare to ultimate combat and other combat mods? Would you say that the whole savebloat issue is worth choosing wildcat or ultimate combat even if wildcat may not be as developed yet?
