Hate playing Slark. I don't have much trouble winning solo either, but it's kinda boring when you have to play Dota wrong. Either there is no challenge because the enemy was so shit that they couldn't even kill my stack before I got huge, so they haven't got shit on me or my stack feeds them so fast that it's turtling before 20 min mark and trying to get the items with limited GPM. Winning those games is pretty nice, far more enjoyable than just winning the other way, but I kinda want to play something fun at times and and not lose, because nobody else will farm up and carry. Just want to get a decent game where I need to be aware of the enemy player's skill, so it's not just a match of who has more GPM.

That hero is from before Icefrog's era, when terms like "carry", "support" or "synergy" didn't exist and the dev in turn just placed whichever four skills he liked the most together.

The newest heroes like Winter Wyvern, Shadow Demon and Slark are all design based if not with a role or combo in mind at least with a concept (IE: all of Phoenix skills cost HP while also each having some kind of sub-skill).

Older heroes like Weaver, Mirana and Underlord basically have 4 skills together for no reason, in some cases, like Lina, those skills actually work well together but sometimes you end up with weird shit that makes no sense like Terrorblade. Underlord, like Terrorblade, is weird and he will either be shit because his skillset makes no sense or will be overpowered simply because the frog will buff his numbers until he's viable.

The idea with expulsion Pitlord, and its mostly based on a guess, is that he was supposed to be a lane pushing juggernaut that could sit in the front lines. Defying the usual logic of such heroes needing gorrilion farm (and not just levels) to do the same.

You couldn't "poke him" down with ranged abilities to stop the push. You had to get in on that demon ass and burst him down or he'd just heal off the corpses you would generate with your ranged AoE anyway. Pit of Malice was his only ability to keep close range burst off of him.

Rain of Fire used to damage towers which meant that even though he didn't do damage with expulsion to buildings, over time he'd eat away at them anyway with burn damage.

Lastly the ult was a way to disengage the siege if the "poke" was too much. So you were fucked if you just had long range nuking but no burst or high physical damage. Which was also around the time pipe was introduced into the game.

He was the hero equivalent of a battering ram. Your best bet was to burst him down when he was sieging your base or force fights away from your objectives.

Now he's just a fucking useless Elder Titan.

You should go for Arcanes with that build. Arcane Boots are pretty much the go to boots for BH anyway, since you can turn those to Greaves fairly early and even if you don't it helps you with Shuriken. Phases are good with Jinada, but Dagon build is honestly better than Deso, as you don't need to risk your life with that and it offers you faster ramp up in damage than waiting for levels and items to make you crit for that amount.

Start with Wraith Band and tangoes. Farm up bottle and boots. Get Rain Drop and a Lace. The rest is up to you. He has many builds and you go what you like the best. I tend to favor tanky builds like Satanic Skadi SnY/Manta over shit like Daedalus Silver Edge and I never get Deso on him. I like to get BoTs on SF as well if I have a good start, Treads only if it's actually a hard game and I need to do other stuff than Raze running noobs and farm. Learn to lasthit as well. His dmg is shit, but animation is pretty good.

Old expulsion was ground targeted instead of centered on pit lord and had a mini-stun instead of a heal.

he was repurposed from "front line sherman tank" to "front line battering ram". And dark rift went from mobile support platform to splitpushing evac. The point is that expulsion was a central part of the identity in both cases. Since then he has been nothing except shitty Elder Titan.
