That's the problem. It's not faster at all.
You still have to grind for the keys/relics themselves and then grind for voidjizz to upgrade them.

With the old system you could just get a group together, get 4 keys, then run the mission 4 times, the droprates were fixed but regardless it would give everyone 4 items that even if they didn't need, could trade for plat or at least ducats.

With the new system you already have to run at least 3 times to upgrade the droprates for that relic and maxed out you still get a measly 10%. It doesn't reduce the amount of grind at all, you still run the same amount of missions as before.

Now here's the thing: with the new system everyone has to use a key/relic to get an item. with means if you run a mission to get the relic, everyone has to use it simultanously, thus everyone gets only one item.

To be clear: the new system wasn't meant to reduce grind at all, it potentially increased it. All it does is reduce the amount of prime items players would get, reducing the amount of items in circulation so they would become more valuable, which in turn would potentially increase their plat prices and the value of ducats, thus increasing the value (higher plat prices) of tradable Baro items such as the mods. And as we all can deduce, if shit gets more expensive, goyims will buy more plat.

TL;DR relic system was never meant to reduce grind, it was meant to bring in more money.

Nothing would make me happier than having my own personal lab full of cloning tubes and the ability to lead a team of Grineer Star Wars Republic Commando-style by using transference.

Testing Pox (unranked, no potato) with Saryn's spores modded full range and a rank 6 blind rage for 103% strength. Seems pretty solid for spreading damaging spores throughout the map in infested survival/defence and grineer survival. Clears several rooms at a time at Draco until aroind 25 minutes, but has trouble with gunners and napalms.

I recomend Saryn fans give them a try, I'll probably give them a catalyst later

Actually, I did the math, and in terms of pure RNG, new grind is better than old. We will use Nekros BP, one of the highest-priced parts right now:

Nekros BP drops from Axi N3. This relic drops most highly from high-level Intercepts: 14.29% at rotation B, and 13.92% at rotation C. That means per every 4 rounds, you will get approximately 0.2821 relics. On a full-Radiant run, you have 34.39% to get the rare part, i.e. each radiant run you get .3439 parts. Overall, if you combine the two stages - getting the relic and getting the prime part itself - you get ~9.7% chance. Compare this to the previous ~5.5% chance at C-rotation for prime parts.

tl;dr - new 9.7% drop chance vs. old 5.5% drop chance

it's a pure numbers thing and simplifies it without taking trace grind, relic trading, etc. into account, but both my calculations and reddit calculations support the idea that new grind is better

Have a Loki and use both Invisibility as well as Decoy>Swap. Invisibility lets you bypass enemy LoS while Decoy>Swap lets you bypass a bunch of laser wall.
There are 4 to 5 vault types for Corpus and Grineer. I recommend doing Oceanum again and again to get used to Corpus vaults while grinding your weapons. Get used to the shortcuts and shits
After a while, you'll obtain a "Spy mission mindset" of sort. You can pretty much apply it to Grineer vaults.

The memory of 3 randos using Simulors on an Ele resist mission still irks me.

Modding the sim for crit makes no sense to me. Maybe they are thinking that each orb hits multiple times so the 10% isn't low over the life of an orb. Personally I think it would be better to mod for power and elementals, there isn't much that the Simulor won't kill with a power build. Unless of course you're one of those shits that spam an orb or two randomly everywhere.

I built Loki to farm Ivara when I was MR 5. His swap and invisibility make spy missions cake. Learn shortcuts and take ciphers if you need them. I also used Valkyr for "speed runs" where I basically murdered everything outside the vault and then used her hook to reach shortcuts.

I'm not sold on it. It only seems to account for number of runs, not the time it takes to run them. I mean yeah, you can possibly avoid slow missions if you can wait for capture missions etc.
It also assumes a squad of 4 people, while i'm curious about solo farming since you don't always find people that want the same item as you.

you don't need to be, you just need to look at market prices. There's a lot of difficult-to-quantify shit going on with prime grinding, but at the end of the day it all sums up to once thing: Price. Nekros P prices have remained pretty much the same as previous primes, thus grind is about the same.

Play solo, and take your time at first. Play the lowest level ones, so that if you screw up you can still wipe out the responding enemies. You need to learn the vaults, they all have various shortcuts. High level vaults have the same layout, just occasionally a shortcut is sealed or a laser/energy barrier is turned on. You can use any frame. People will suggest this frame or that, but honestly once you know the vault you can do them with any frame.

You level mods up now with Endo, which is this magical energy you gather. Enemies drop it a lot more commonly than they dropped cores, but in smaller amounts.

Traces let you upgrade a relic to have a higher chance of getting the rarer prime parts inside that specific relic. The Rare reward in a relic normally has a 2% chance of dropping from a certain relic, but if you spend 100 traces on it, you get a 10%. For example.

You use Endo and credits to level up mods. Endo is found in missions or obtained through selling mods.

You use a relic in a void mission, voids open and spawn corrupted enemies that drop reactant, collecting ten reactant rewards traces and opens the relic which is where your reward comes from, you have one choice out of however many players open their relic. Traces are then used to refine relics in your ship to increase your chance of obtaining a better reward from a relic's reward table.

Get a strong weapon that can kill in one hit and put a silence mod on it. Or be in a clan and get Banshee for silenced weapons. Start on low level planets if your weapons aren't up to higher level ones and so you can get use to sneaking around and learning shortcuts. Now kill/ignore everything on your way to each vault. Make use of areas with large vertical space because AI's are stupid and don't look up. Once you cleared a vault, you can explore and look around for shortcuts and stuff.

Tower keys as a concept are gone. You get Void Relics from various kinds of missions now. Relics contain a series of items with a percentage-based drop chance. Relics need to be taken to a Void Fissure mission, which is like a normal mission except the enemies are turned into Corrupted versions of themselves.

You basically just play the normal mission type and pick up 10 Void Reactant items to open your relic while you're doing it. Void Traces are awarded and can be used to increase the chance that you will receive a rare item from your Relic while decreasing the chances you get common items from your Relic. They are also used to craft Dragon Keys.

these calculations were done when you had to find the fissure and put the reactant into it, and when the traces you got were absolutely shit (the calculations also weren't done for the mix-maxed 3 ivara+nekros party while slicing up each eximus for more traces)

this means, with the fissure rework, and that you collect the reactant while running the level rather than doing that stationary minigame, and the fact that you get a massive amount more traces per run than when the calculations were done, that the new NEW system is even FASTER (not accounting for of course the min-maxed party where you could get your 100 trace cap each run)

Fusion cores are now "Endo". One R5 core=72 Endo. Endo drops is bundles of 15 or 80 (actually haven't played all that much since the change so I don't know if there's a middle bundle). It takes the same amount of Endo to max a mod as it did R5 cores, unfortunately, the credit cost of ranking up is calculated like you are using Common3 fusion cores, so maxing shit costs more than using R5 cores did. The upside, you can convert all your duplicate mods to Endo so ranking up shit ends up being easier overall, but more costly credits-wise.

Nekros price is what it is, because that is what primes have always cost, so it is what people are willing to pay. Trying to use the price as an indicator of grind isn't really accurate, especially so close to release.

I will say that not having to sit in T4D or T4S for hours just to get parts is a welcome change.

You farm relics the same way you farmed keys. Pretty much the same missions as well. To get traces you just run relics you either don't care about the rewards from, or that have the reward you want in the first 4 entries of their table. So you are getting your ducat fodder or crap you might be able to trade for plat. There is also the chance one of the other people in your mission gets lucky and pops a good reward from their key. And the benefit, that you don't end up running a capture just to get a forma BP (unless that is what you want).

On the whole there are more steps, but the actual amount of effort feels lower in the new system. If Trace drops were bumped 10% or were more consistent overall, it'd be damn near ideal (for a system that is designed to be grindy AF).
