I heard rumor of a minecraft mod. I don't remember if it was a FTB mod or what, but it was something like after 365 in game days have passed a boss shows up and wipes the world unless you beat it. Where you spend the whole time preparing for this fight. Something to that effect.

I think I've heard of it.

Something about when you die, it says something like "Not even death will grant you respite" or some shit, and it never despawns. It will teleport to a player and attack, and most of its attacks are terrain breaking. So pretty much everything is destroyed, if you can't kill it.

But holding shift causes RAM to be eaten up like a bitch, think it was mousetweaks.
I chucked both because you don't actually need inventorytweaks at all, it's pointless if you have any kind of logistics system set up.

Whatever causes the leak gets thrown out by gc right away so it doesn't become a problem right away, didn't notice it until I'd set up enough stuff for RAM to get maxed out before gc happens, which causes massive lag spikes.

invtweaks is pretty much useless. the best thing it offers is the auto-refill, but that wigs out a lot.

mousetweaks though is a godsend.
the only issue I've had with it is trying to understand what the config is trying to describe with its options. it really needs a partner gif to describe the behaviour.

Hey guys, updated Helpertools for 1.10.2

Ported it from the 1.8 version, so it's lean but all the important bits are there.

Not sure where I'll start next, whether I'll continue to beef 1.7's or bring the newer ones up to it, since I haven't been playing much anymore. Also sorry if the image is ass, my main computer died so I've been working off awkward onboard power.

Blue side succs and sends it to orange side, the fluid also travels instantly through the pipes which makes them pretty good. If the machine can auto-output, you don't need the pump either.
Also, something that is easily missed is how that pump doesn't need power if you just want to move fluids. It only uses energy to pup water, lava and so on from the world.

The problem is, even though I know my username and password, I don't know which e-mail I used when I first registered years ago because, get this, I entered my e-mail with a typo. I explicitly remember that. I don't remember the typo, but there was a typo. So now I pratically doesn't know the e-mail I used for registering.

Is there any way I can migrate my account by just knowing account name and password? There is no way I can find what kind of typo I did. Anyone got an idea?

Dense Ores still won't play nice, but at least I've made some improvements to Strata while I've been at it.
Config'd all my ores, and tweaked some of the code too - now has a config to change the mining levels of the layers, and I fixed the texture output generation, and made the registered block names less retarded

First, look at the glowstone texture. The sort-of honeycomb pattern is nice, the colour variation is good but just look at it. Next to stone it looks completely out of place. it comes off as a flat overly-bright block. the transition from glowstone to stone is jarring.

the skeletons are overly-detailed. this may just be a symptom of 32x+ textures though. the attempt to have a rounded-skull texture looks bad on a square. If there were transparencies to fake rounding it would look better, but instead of looks out of place.

the cobblestone(?) pillar has no depth or roughness to it. it looks like a bunch of crayon beans on a gray sheet of paper.

the only thing that actually looks decent are the stone bricks and slabs. the bricks look worn, but fail on giving off depth and sturdiness.
slabs look fine until you notice the 'rocky' texture tiling between creases, which deletes the impression of a bezel shape on the stone.

oh and the sand looks like wavy spaghetti noodles. that are also flat.

its a pretty bad art style for a game made of cubes and generally-muted colours.

They're not super hard. Mainly the problem is that there is barely any documentation.

Crayfish's tutorials are a good starting spot, as mentioned. There was another good set of tutorials but I can't remember how to find it off the top of my head.

The main points at which most people get stuck are 1. Tile Entities and 2. GUIs.

Tile Entities are easy once you understand that it's extra data and behavior associated with a specific block at a specific place.

There's one Block for each *type* of Block. So, every single dirt block in the world refers to one dirt block object instance.

Tile Entities, on the other hand, refer to the specific block. So you can have a row of furnaces and each has its own furnace tile entity.


Now, GUIs are a lot harder, because Minecraft's GUI system is a clusterfuck. It's what happens when you don't abstract anything but keep writing with the rules of your simple prototype to create a really complicated thing. It's fucking terrible. There is no solution, and no hope.

I could use some help on fixing this, if anyone is able. Prob is listed in DenseOre and DenseOresConfig, but the WorldGenOres uses a random function.

Here's what he did. He picks 1000 random blocks in each chunk (up to height 80), then checks if any of those are a regular ore, and if so replaces it with a dense ore. So the dense ore probability is 1000 : (16 * 16 * 80), or about 4.88%.

I'd put in the probability knob by replacing the 1000 with a value computed from the config setting.

Books are easy to make. Put logs into the sawmill to make 6 planks and 1 sawdust. Not computers in that sense, electricity is done by mods and is mostly just numbers in numbers out.
With redstone, you can make logic circuits, and anywhere there are logic circuits, there can be a computer.
Even shit like fallout 4.
With stuff like command blocks, you can turn these redstone signals into graphical representations relatively easy for what you're doing.

That'd work for the Dense Ores case. For UBC, it's a bit more complicated, as it has its own "stone type biome" system, so it has to do some more calculations - it's fast enough in practice, however. Getting rid of the World->Chunk->EBS call repeating already shaves off enough time to make this a non-issue.

Infitech even adds a recipe for a book that tells you all of the elevations and ore combinations for every GT vein.

Yeah, the farming station has a limit to how fast it can harvest. I had the same problem growing wheat with 20+ miniature suns. If you're not using Agricraft sticks, the station also has to replant them, and since it will harvest in one pass and then wait for the next pass to replant, it takes even longer for the crops to turn over. I ended up just building more farming stations.

Do you want to use Botania? A Drum of the Wild on a timer will harvest all of the crops in an area, and then you can use a hopperhock, vacuum chest, vacuum hopper, or obsidian pipe to pick them up.

Simple Boiler, Steam Macerator, Steam Forge Hammer, Fluid Pipe. Your first project is a Bronze Blast Furnace, which takes 6+ stacks of Bronze. With that you can make steel and start using electrical power.

Remember to cook your iron nuggets again for extra tool durability.

the most important setup for the steam age is two steam boiler, one macerator and one steam furnace.

the steam macerator and the furnace togheter consume EXACTLY the steam produced from two boiler, so you don't lose steam.

You put your ores in the macerator and it gives you crushed ores.

now, if the ore is "pure" (iron, copper, shit like this) you can smelt it for 10 nuggest.

If the ore is "inpure" (cassiterite, banded iron, limonite etc) you can macerate it for the impure piles of material, that gave you a ingot (smelting the crushed ores give you 3 nuggets)

don't cook iron if you don't swim in charcoal, you'll need that for making steel, wich is better once you have your blast furnace.

The steam hammer is pretty good for hammering your crushed ores in dirty piles, if you want. Much faster

Are you sure you can lose steam? If the steam boiler is full of steam, it stops converting heat and water into steam, and when it's full of heat it will also stop burning fuel.

In any case, I learned to buffer my steam system by storing steam in a big railcraft tank. Any valves on the underside of the tank will auto-eject, so you don't have to worry about extracting the steam.

I want the game to pressure me into expanding into different areas. If I need to set up a mining base in a mountain biome, I'm going to have to build a mountain base, probably a completely different kind of structure than I would build in a plains biome.

Minecraft needs soft restrictions like these to spur the player into coming up with creative solutions.

I don't quite follow.

By blending floors I specifically meant with the wood pillars. I never know quite what to do when dealing with them, I feel extending them makes it look too seamless, and I can't really think of a natural looking way to break it off.

I like to do a twotone sort of thing around both the floor and the ceiling. Purple thing is the level the ceiling's at and the brown's going to be where the next floor's floor starts.

It's very WIP. Still way too dumpy right now, mostly just testing colors and designs.

The gun is from Flans Mod, using the WW2 pack, and the prone position is Smart Moving.

The combo makes a half-decent FPS, but it's kind of boring in single player (a halfway decent sniper rifle is enough to hunt with) and the multiplayer serbs I've seen don't have Smart Movement and need all of Flans' packs (including shitty unfinished ones like NERF and Future Weapons). Give it a shot, see if you like it.

They're actually BC filtered buffers, so I could have a small amount of "backlog" without shit going everywhere.
