1. go to ux0:/app/vitashell download the EBOOT.bin
2. go to ux0:/app/gameid download the EBOOT.bin of the game
3. change the EBOOt.bin of the game you want to edit to vitashells EBOOT.bin
4. close VS boot up the game it should boot the vitashell
5. connect to your ftp again
4. go to savedata0: you will see your save data file it should be decrypted
5. do the editing up to you. after that
6. replace your save data file with the edited one
7. go back to ux0:/app/gameid upload back the original game EBOOT.bin

This does work, I've used it to take my decrypted physical Cold Steel save file and loaded it onto my Vitamin backup. No reason why it shouldn't work the other way around.

I remember when DEX was the next best thing for PS3 and I went through the trouble of of running Linux on the console, spending hours dumping some damn keys, signing my own DEX firmware and dirty flashing only to softbrick when going back to CEX because DEX fucked with the BD-emu so games ran like shit.

I don't think you understand what you just said.

You need to update Smash, which you can do through Freeshop or the eShop, and both are safe. You very obviously can not update Smash through system settings.

Before you do that though, run Luma Updater, because Luma usually patches out errors relating to required updates.
