Ah, then it's Werhner that I can't side with.
He cares little for the child and, while he'll get the cure faster, the child should not have to suffer for being born better.
I also side with Ashur because slavery does get results, but there's a point where you have to stop. He understands this and can set his morality aside for the betterment of the human race. Despite this, I can't side with Caesar because, even though he talks with good intentions, he's lost his way in more savagery than the tribes he's conquered.

Well NV had Ricky mention Deathjaws first, so of course Bethesda is going to go out of their way to come up with their own "unique" name for them, because nothing from NV can ever be reused because Bethesda wants to pretend NV isn't better than any Fallout they've ever made.

I like to think he is saying that because if he said anything contrary to that, Bethesda and their fanboys will destroy him. He did spill the beans, and rather sheepishly, on Bethesda and their writing.

Their staff just checked the wiki and forums to see what happened lore wise because half of the team had no idea of the backstory. I bet money on it that is the reason why the Outcasts in F3 were a last minute, tacked on addition to the game, because someone discovered the Brotherhood are not good guys.

Either all that or Avellone actually likes Bethesda

I went about times as well, then saw them fall down dead after all the White Legs were eradicated by intense chem and VATS abuse.
At that point, I tried resurrecting the via the console, but they shortly died without cause soon after and I made it a personal mission to kill every White Leg I found.

Playing a Powder Ganger right now. They're a punk, but they've grown more of a heart as the playthrough has progressed. I might not want to stay and help some locals with their scavenger hunt, but I do realize that the White Legs are scum, even to a criminal like my courier. Daniel is pretty full of shit, but he's right that the Dead Horses and Sorrows have a certain innocence and it makes me want to protect them.

I think it's BS that helping them fight makes them into a tribe that doesn't get along with each other as well.

The History of the Desert Rangers by Ranger Simak

What comes after the end?

The story of the Desert Rangers begins at what many would have called the end of all human history - after the nuclear blasts changed the face of the world forever and left human civilization with scars that would never heal.

But humanity's resilience is its defining trait, and it should surprise no one that pockets of survivors survived the nuclear holocaust. I say pockets speculatively, and some would call me a fool for doing so, for though rumors persist of mutants being cured and turned into humans in Florida, these are obvious fairy tales, and in the century since the nuclear war we here in the Arizona wastes have heard no credible reports of others surviving outside our lonely stretch of desert land. It is therefore fair to assume we're the only ones left.
>>
Who are we?

The Desert Rangers started as an Army Corps of Engineers battalion, who were deep in the Arizona deserts constructing roads and bridges on that fateful day when the bombs fell. Their isolation saved their lives, but could do nothing for their frightened, broken hearts. One can only imagine the horror they felt as they listened to reports of their home cities and states being obliterated one after the other on their radios.

The engineers did not know how or why the nuclear war happened, no more than we do today, but their supplies, military training, and knowledge of the region gave them advantages over their fellow survivors during the apocalypse and the chaotic years that would follow. They commandeered a nearby federal prison, being welcomed as saviors by the few remaining prison guards, and in a show of mercy that might have perhaps been better if tempered by wisdom, the Rangers freed the prisoners into the desert.

Why? Perhaps they felt that the apocalypse had already killed enough people, perhaps they simply didn't want to waste ammo it would have taken to execute them. In any case, the prisoners survived, which lead to a volatile mix of survivors all living together in the wasteland - isolated farming communities, scientists from secretive research facilities, citizens of small towns just looking to get by, but opposite them were not just the rapidly mutating monsters of the desert, but equally monstrous humans, cultists and cannibals. Many of these threats were from the original prison population, as well as formerly law-abiding citizens who saw the end of the world as an excuse to abandon all of civilization's constraints.

Faced with such villains, the army engineers could have hidden in the prison and lived only for their own survival, but they did not. Hearing the cries for help coming from distant radios, they invited many to join them behind their strong walls. They aided other, more established, towns, helping them build walls and protect their homes, training them in the arts of defense and war, and helping them develop into strong, stable communities.

Holding Back the Tide

Though the Desert Rangers never gained the numbers to patrol the wastes in their entirety, it is thanks to their efforts in the century that followed that many communities in the wasteland flourished. They helped protect the community of Highpool until it could rebuild the pre-war defenses that now make it the most well protected source of water in the wastes. The Rangers helped the Rail Nomads repair their trains and expand their rail lines, allowing them to establish a thriving trading and transportation network. They also helped the residents of the Agricultural Center go from a tiny farming community to a food research facility that has the potential to lead the wasteland into a greener, healthier future.

But despite these various successes, there was always a sense that the rangers were doing little more than holding back the tide, and that, were they to relax for but a moment, the raiders and madmen who lived on the fringes of Ranger territory would flood in and drown the young civilization before it had time to grow and stand on its own two feet.

And then, almost a full century after the end of the war, in 2087, a new threat rose that threatened this tenuous equilibrium more than any danger the Desert Rangers had faced before.

Hell Razor, Angela Deth, Thrasher and Snake Vargas. Four Rangers - now legend - were sent out on a fairly standard assignment, patrolling and aiding the communities that the Desert Rangers had sworn to protect. They started in Highpool, a thriving community by now, but at that moment in need of a new generator for their water purification system. While helping the town to fix this problem, they saved a young boy from a rabid dog. Accounts differ as to what happened next, but apparently the owner of the dog - a young man named Bobby - attacked the rangers for killing his pet, and they were forced to kill him in self-defense.
The next few stops on their patrol were much less fraught with drama - they saved Ag Center from an animal invasion, bought an engine from the Desert Nomads, saved the Mayor in Quartz by defeating a mob boss named Ugly John, and freed a young mechanic named Ace, who joined them, and who has proven an asset to the Desert Rangers ever since.
But the wasteland is a place of madness and desperation, and insanity is not long in rearing its head. Which it did in the next town they visited: Needles. There they encountered the Servants of the Mushroom Cloud - who worship the nuclear holocaust itself - and the discovered the Temple of Blood. At this point rumors began to reach their ears that "something was wrong in the desertâ€, but they could not get any clear word on what, only that they would find the answer in the cesspit known as Las Vegas.

In Vegas, the polite but dangerous crime lord Faran Brygo told them that killer cyborgs had been threatening the town, and that his right hand man Max knew more about them, but had disappeared. Further investigation led the rangers to the Las Vegas branch of the Servants of the Mushroom Cloud. Before she would talk to them, their leader, Charmaine, sent the rangers back to Needles to retrieve the Bloodstaff from the Temple of Blood. Once they brought it to her, she told them to search for Max in the sewers of Vegas.

It is here that the rumors the Rangers had been hearing were proved true. The sewers were swarming with androids! Metal monstrosities of all shapes and sizes roamed the underground, attacking on sight. After a brutal fight with the androids, the rangers found Max - or rather pieces of Max - as he turned out to be a lifelike but disassembled artificial human. Max had hoped to negotiate peace with the cyborgs, but was ripped apart for his troubles. Though not before he had learned where they had been coming from - an ancient, pre-apocalypse military facility called Base Cochise.

Armed with this information, the rangers marched off to end the cyborg menace, but it wasn't going to be as easy as walking through Base Cochise's front door. To fight the androids the rangers were going to need more and better equipment. To that end, they explored another old facility known as the Sleeper Base, where an automated training program taught them how to fly helicopters.

From there, they traveled to Darwin Village, yet another ancient military facility. To their horror, they found another major threat to the wastes here, as the former director of the facility, an insane cyborg by the name of Irwin John Finster, was creating dangerous mutated creatures that he hoped would inherit the planet once the cyborgs and a dangerous plague he'd developed had wiped out all humans. Unable to reason with Finster, the rangers decided to end this threat before it truly started, and destroyed him and the base.

Soon after, the rangers learned that the keys that would allow them to enter Base Cochise were held by a dangerous, xenophobic sect known as the Guardians of the Old Order, who were obsessed with preserving technology and keeping it out of the hands of the common people. When the Guardians responded to the rangers request for the keys with unnecessary force, the rangers assaulted their fortress, the Guardian Citadel a massive facility built into the side of a mountain. We now call the place Ranger Citadel.

In the end, Hell Razor, Angela Deth, Thrasher and Snake Vargas battled their way to the Guardians' inner sanctum, uncovering a cache of power armor and a functional Attack Helicopter, which they flew to Base Cochise, wiping out the android patrols sent to destroy them and landing on the roof. Inside the base, they found a malevolent computer known as the Base Cochise AI mass-producing the robot scourge.

The rangers tricked the AI into creating an administrative robot they named Vax, and with Vax's help, they dismantled the robot-making machinery. But knowing that the base would eventually repair itself - that they had only stopped the robot horde temporarily - they plunged into the heart of Base Cochise and fought through a gauntlet of mechanical madness to start a chain reaction of explosions that finally wiped the base off the map.
In the 15 years since, the Desert Rangers have moved their headquarters from the old prison facilities that had served them for a century to the larger and more secure Guardian Citadel. Initially there was some thought given to keeping the Prison staffed and returning it to its original purpose, but this would have required manpower that the Rangers needed to keep patrolling the wastes for remnants of Base Cochise's cyborg army and Finster's monstrosities. For while those threats were averted, the mark they left on the wasteland has not entirely faded.
And so, with their greatest danger passed, the Rangers are now a strong and well-respected force in Arizona, fully capable of fulfilling their promise to their fellow survivors of the apocalypse - that they will be ever-vigilant defenders of the wastes, and strive with hearts, minds and strength of arms, to bring about a new and better era of human civilization.

So there you go, the story of the spiritual prequel to Fallout. But after these events, By the end of Wasteland 2 theyre nomadic like they are in Fallout 1, at least until they join together with the Park Ranger looking slaver hunting NCR rangers when the legion kicks them outta Arizona. And if youre autistic, just add 100 years to the dates given and it doesn't really contradict Fallout in any way. The Guardians could easily be Enclave or the Remnants of the BoS splinter group that tried to Crack the glow soon after the Bombs.

Doesn't sound like the kind of work I'd want to pay money for. I wouldn't for example buy a car where they're goal is to shit out as many of them as possible, as fast as possible. Honestly I'd rather wait a few months more for a significantly better game than get it right away and have it be poor quality. Especially since you often have to pay more than $100 for all of a game's content these days.

Yeah look at this crazy shit. Unfortunately it was going to be a console 1st & third person FPS. Kinda prophetic there actually.

"It is unclear when exactly the game was going to take place. According to the summary in a design document, "almost a century has passed" since the Great War, but it's probably just an error that would have been fixed in the final version of the game, just like the "I was born just after the bombs fell" in Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel.

The Brotherhood of Steel (judging from the concept art, probably the Midwestern branch from Fallout Tactics), the "once silent organization", has been expanding and seizing more and more territory under their control. Their area of influence stretches as far as Alaska, where the Brotherhood's new headquarters is now located. The Brotherhood's agenda "leaves little room for the survival of radiation or FEV outbreak victims". Local humans are either drafted into the Brotherhood's ranks as cannon fodder or enslaved, and mutants are outright eradicated. It is the Brotherhood that the player would oppose during the first half of the game.

The player controls a squad of revolutionaries known as The Cause. Throughout the game, it would gain momentum, starting in Oregon, Washington and Canada. Each reclaimed town would vow loyalty to the player's cause.

However, after defeating the Brotherhood, the player would learn why the Brotherhood set out to Canada and Alaska in the first place. The rebels must now venture across the Bering Strait, through Russia and Mongolia and finally into China, in order to destroy the Doom's Day Missile that could obliterate what is left of America. The endgame would take place within the Forbidden City, where the Chinese Emperor resides.

Among the factions encountered along the way would be the Issaquah Nation, the Inuits, the Montauk, the Horde of Huns, Siberian Cossacks and finally the Army of the Golden Tiger and New Imperial Guard."

Meanwhile in Wasteland 2 a similar situation happens, the only way to stop a killer AI from uploading its brain into every robot, cyborg, computer (including any surviving nuclear silos), and synth in the West and achieve immortality is to set off a nuke manually, and you can pick any companion to sacrifice themselves to do so. Only the most selfish bad karma ones will refuse and even then you can do it yourself with one of your 4 player characters if they didn't die as well, since the game has Perma-Death. Failing that, you charged into battle with a horde of friendly NPCs who may also do it if they survive the Synth & Cyborg hordes. The Chief of the Railroad Nomad tribe did it for me, RIP.
>>
>>153540427
Although you only get those NPCs help if you did their quests in certain ways. I ended up fighting with around 30 NPC allies when we raided the AI's lair. It was more of a Battle than anything Bethesda tried to do, especially the damn Skyrim civil war.
Next playthough I wont savescum. Wonder how the ending is different if my final character sacrifices themselves.

Vault city is probably the worst part of the game for me. You're underpowered still at this point, enemies start getting loaded down with better weapons and are encountered in large groups.

Vault City's quests are boring too. and they're assholes.
>>
>>153554831
That's true and it's the reason why the game gets more exciting, you start to find decent loot, winning the fights feels more like an achievement and unless you have a bad character you it shouldn't be too difficult to tackle the basic quests. The VC raiders however are easily the most difficult part of the game at this point, most people would do well just to retun later with better equipment and at higher level

Whenever I see videos like this one, I remember my professors at film school thinking everything we made was really cool and amazing.

Then I wonder if people really have such a shit taste, or it's just a "it's cool because it was made by normal people".

This video fucking sucks, like Nuka Break, and like that Lanius one. You've got the customes. You've got the environment. Just film the fucking shit correctly and get some good actors.
>>
>>153569438

>>153570158

I know filming even a short is expensive provided you want to make a quality short. Then again, these people have the most important things: the costumes to be believable, and the environments to be believable.

Just make a casting and hire some good actors, we do that all the time here for college, and sometimes you get some really nice people to work with.

Of course, if the director is shit, no big budget is going to save you. The camera may be good, but if all you know how to film are crappy angles, you are doomed from the start.

/cfog/ began as daily NV threads on /v/ after /fog/ became dominated by 4 talk, said threads eventually got moved here by mods. We decided to group NV with the older games for this general because of their great relevance to each other.

I really don't get why /cfog/ has inspired so much disdain from /fog/, surely this is better than having us argue with each other and shitting up that one thread. Daniel is like the only character I can never bring myself to side with in any run, I mean the tribes losing their innocence is a shame but I fail to see how that can be considered worse than surrendering yourself to an existence of running away from all conflict in such a hostile world.

He also acts like a little bitch in all ways which hardly helps.

Honestly, since Fallout 4's last DLC came out I feel like the Fallout 4 discussion is going to slow down on /fog/ and New Vegas and the classics could easily be discussed there.

Maybe it's idealistic but given some time I think /cfog/ and /fog/ could come together.

I don't see this split as a permanent thing either, like you said with Nuka World out 4 discussion is gonna steadily drop while talk about NV has more or less stabilized. as time goes on it'll more than likely drop below NV's level and we'll be able to merge without much fighting. Especially with Skyrim 2 coming out in a few months and dragging most of the waifufags back to /tesg/.

Has anyone ever unironically done it Daniel's way and left Zion? Why even have such a dumb option? Could they just not think of a better one to give you more choices? It's not like the idea just isn't for me, I don't think more than 1% of players would choose to leave Zion.
>>
>>153576151
I wish there were an option to side with the White Legs, helping Joshua fight a tribe wanting to join the Legion is really hard to justify on a Legion run. I know there's Chaos in Zion but that's hardly a questline, just a failsafe to gtfo of there if you accidentally anyone important.

Is HH Reborn any good? I've heard this actually does have a Legion route but haven't had the chance to try the mod out for myself.
>>
>>153576084
Yeah, basically how I see it. /fog/ became all about Fallout 4 for a while but that was more or less the peak of Fallout 4's popularity. With that dying down since there won't be any more official content the casuals will move onto other games.

Once everyone wraps up Nuka World the only things left to discuss for the most part will be mods and lore.
>>

I've never seen anyone talk about it but a really cool feature from the classic FOs is the "Tell me more about" option in dialogue.

I know it's mentioned during his ending slides, but don't recall anyone having mentioned it.
Is it stated how he was released/escaped?

And did anyone else find it ridiculous that, regardless of what's done with Rex even if you kill him/let him die and Roxie, that it always ends in her finding him and the two having puppies?
I know absurd coincidences happen throughout the series, but it being every ending slide for Roxie ends in her breeding with Rex seems -very- far fetched.

I always go in wanting to like the BoS, but then they show me how rude, cowardly and afraid they are. They may have been more stupid in FO3, but they were definitely better people. Maybe they wouldn't have to hide in a hole in the ground if they didn't go around acting like jerks, while at the same time, being on the verge of extinction. All they can do is harrass innocent travelers and passerbys for their tech. It's like they're asking to be wiped out. I understand your point of view and I actually agree with you to some degree, but I like them this way.
As an example, I'll use the "Outcasts" from DC, tied into the DLC 'Operation Anchorage'.
The facility they guarded had absurdly powerful technology inside, technology that, in the hands of the assaulting Super Mutants or possibly raiders would cause unforeseeable damage and death to many.
I mean, do we really want raiders running around with better than BoS levels of Power Armour, stealth suits and fucking Gauss Rifles?
Of course not.
This function, what they're best at, is why they're needed.
They keep incredible tech out of the hands of savages.

I'd rather than didn't harass random folk wielding Laser Pistols which, if I remember correctly, were basic self defence weapons pre-war, and instead focus exclusively upon keeping weapons like Archimedes II away from people who would use it to aid destruction.
I feel they're somewhat of a necessity to protect humanity.

They don't really do that though, or at least they haven't been able to keep any truly destructive devices out of anyone's hands
>>
>>153597192
I already mentioned that, but thanks.

It's really shitty that that's the only way to reach that point, due to lack of BoS content.
>>
>>153597268
>They don't really do that though, or at least they haven't been able to keep any truly destructive devices out of anyone's hands
At the very least, they try.
They'd probably have been able to defend, destroy or even keep Helios One if Elijah wasn't a fuckwit.

And, provided that the Lone Wanderer isn't some bad Karma mental patient, the Outcasts, who act just as the proper BoS does, effectively did prevent Super Mutants and/or raiders from getting access to the storage facility.

Considering the traditional BoS stance the Mojave chapter has, if they didn't have less content than the Legion, it's relatively safe to assume they'd have had quite a few missions involving the acquisition of dangerous technology.
Yes, I'm still mad they have so little content in NV
>>
>>153597750
>They'd probably have been able to defend, destroy or even keep Helios One if Elijah wasn't a fuckwit.
There's no way they could have kept Helios, even assuming they had grade-A orders. The NCR simply had too many bodies to throw at them.

And regardless, McNamera and presumably the rest of the BoS outside Elijah knows that Archimedes II is really shit.

>>153598038
>The NCR simply had too many bodies to throw at them.
You're probably right, I just think that it could have gone differently if, rather than Elijah focusing the majority of his troops to immediately protect him, he or preferably another Elder focused on maintaining the area in its entirety or even attempting democratic compromise with the NCR, something Elijah was incapable of.
This is making me wish 'Operation: Sunburst' was an in-game quest, able to be influenced by the Courier

>McNamera and presumably the rest of the BoS outside Elijah knows that Archimedes II is really shit.
You're sunspot on there.
Elijah is a fuckwit, but he's a brilliant one.
The rest of the BoS seem to lack his qualities, but it seems like his gifts should be more common among them, similar to the Ciphers.
>>
>>153595916
It would be hard for them to try something more peaceful, such as regulating laser and plasma weaponry for citizen use in an alliance with the NCR (or government of your choosing) instead of outright stealing tech and painting themselves as the bad guys because they've kinda burned their bridges with the rest of civilization with their hostility, haven't they? People are just afraid of them/dislike them. If they worked as a force of true benevolence, they could afford to walk the surface with their fellow man, helping technology stay out of the wrong hands, not just everyone but their own hands. People would probably see them as heroes, and obviously that would come with its own perks.
I guess I'd just describe them as a little to zealous. Like, they want to take Mr. House's securitrons, but why? He's not a raider or a savage and he's done a lot of good things for the Strip. He's certainly saved more lives than the BoS has, I'd wager. They don't know this of course because they are blinded by their codex or whatever it is that makes them think and act the way they do.
I just can't see them being able to perform their function if they are confined to a bunker and can only leave in small, discreet groups because they know people want them dead, even the "good" guys.

Could savages and raiders even use or comprehend some of the really advanced, dangerous technology they "protect"? Seems like a cop-out excuse to hoard more tech sometimes, though not every time. They're too greedy and they try to take everything by force. Why not sign treaties and make agreements or something? When you have really advanced weapons and armor of your own, you think you'd feel a little more at ease being civil and nice to people, but they just use it as an excuse to be bullies. The BoS wouldn't be so bold if they didn't have power armor and lasers to hide behind. They're keeping the wasteland back, I think, with their barbarism. House is right about them.

You're correct, that's why I hope they'll evolve to a halfway point between the East and West coast, as that's the best course I could see them taking and prevents their eventual destruction, provided they continue their course.

>a little to zealous
That's exactly their problem, they can't see that there are people outside of themselves who can be trusted with advanced tech, albeit few.

As someone who really likes the BoS, it pains me to admit that you're completely correct.
Despite their technology and military history, they're still tribals as much as the Khans are.
They have a lot of progress that needs to be made to prevent a Nation-wide Bitter Springs on them.

Brand new Fallout with ample time to finish, but then have them use the profits from it to make a completed New Vegas with everyone from production back on board and better DLC integration effectively making them part of the main game for example, being able to report back to the BoS about Elijah's fate instead of just Veronica, having Ulysses/Graham as a companion, etc.

Often I think about what NV was supposed to be and it's disheartening, especially considering the Legion towns, more BoS content and the, I'm sure, dozens of things that we don't even know about that would have been fantastic.

That said, I'd totally join the BoS if I could, because you get power armor, weapons and safety. It's probably also pretty clean and I bet they even have showers. It basically sounds pretty fantastic, but only if you're a part of the faction. If I were a random wastelander or anyone else pretty much, I'm sure I'd despise them.

Also, cute girls in power armor would be pretty hot. And like I said, they probably wouldn't be smelly and dirty if they had showers.
>>
>>153600984
Bethesda caters to the lowest common denominator. Their games are literally for children and have been simplified as such, as 1/2/NV harken back to classic Sci-Fi stories, when there was more meaning to it than audience gratification. An apt comparison to make would be Mad Max vs Transformers. Bethesda's games are literally for people who can't go more than a minute without explosions or blood, as evidenced by how Pete Hines calls their dialogue the best, because he doesn't have patience for long dialogue.

I get you, I'd make it a life effort to join if it were an option.
Even though DC is one of the most fucked places in pre-war American, I'd even join the BoS there.
Aside from the prospect of showers and safety, there's the brotherhood pun intended in serving with these people that you've grown with in a situation not commonly seen elsewhere.
It seems to be more than you'd get in the NCR, who are often only in service due to conscription, which fosters resentment.
The only faction I could see similar is the Desert Rangers, but they're effectively long since gone.

>cute girls in power armor would be pretty hot

I don't know what to think about Bethesda. I don't want to say anything too negative about them, because I don't know the entirety of the situation or what goes on in their heads (besides what that idiot, Pete Hines, says), but to put it simply, I think people like us would be a lot happier if they didn't set the bar so low.

Does Pete Hines really say that awful stuff? I always see screencaps and paraphrasing of things he said (which I think can possibly be faked to drum up hate), but he seems to come off as so matter-of-fact and rude, and generally just ignorant. I can't believe he can say things like that, because it really makes me view anything he's involved in a little worse. I always see the twitter posts about him telling Fallout fans that he doesn't care about what their issue with the game is because it's not the direction he was wanting the game to go in (whether that's just him trying to cover up his lore and plot mistakes with arrogance or no), like the one about the ghoul kid in FO4. He seems so immature.

The divide is technically on the NV map still. It's in the Sandy Valley area, around I-127.
>>
>>153603440
Oh. Kind of, then. You have to keep in mind that FO1's map kind of cheated in a lot of ways to make it seem bigger than it really was. FO2's map is a lot more accurate and you can just slap it onto the picture of the Cali coast with no problems at all. It's pretty impressive, actually.
FO1's map is kind of odd, and the locations of Vault 13, NCR, and Vault 15 kind of changed due to FO2. FO1 has them mostly in Nevada, while FO2 has them entirely in California. It's strange.

>>
>>153601976
In fairness, the OWB intro is really static. You're talking to 5 people while looking at a couple of monitors that are supposed to represent one person. It's not visually-engaging and it can be difficult to distinguish the characters by voice alone.

The problem is that there's no way to strreamline making new maps. You have to paint the terrain on manually cell by cell. Which is funny, because in Oblivion they had that automated for you. Also most people either aren't aware of or can't make realistic and detailed height maps.

I've played through a few areas that chose to forego making a Pip-boy map and just used appropriately placed fast travel markers and, while it was odd to look at, it still felt pretty natural.
What I'm getting at, is that they don't need to be a necessity and can't be used as an excuse/reason as to why most new lands suck ass.
That reason tends to be in regard to the better mods wasted potential and the worse ones fucking godawful ideas that are "lul so epic" shit like fucking Doctor Who bullshit, why or just poorly conceived concepts that went nowhere.

I'm rambling now, but a lot of modders don't have the same spark that Black Isle/Interplay/Obsidian folk do.

Considering they're the only non-primate to be able to contract it, I'm not surprised.

There are a few ways they could take Fallout armadillos: typical mutation induced gigantism of the species, domestication as a food source/other uses, a mix of the two above, worshipped by tribes/worn as armour by tribals, as deformed monsters, etc.
I think a Gulf Fallout would be pretty cool, and this is from someone who doesn't even live there.
I'd vastly prefer one there than where I'm from, but that would be fucking ridiculous because I feel that Fallout should stay in America

>>153605512

Yeah, hating an imitation of humanity crafted without any specific, useful or positive reasoning sure is such a bad thing.
Those robots are so poorly treated as the slaves they are, even though they're not whipped, maimed, raped or otherwise treated like garbage.

If there's one thing I like about Fallout 4 and that's probably true it's the Brotherhood.
They're after the destruction of mutants and purposeless and unnecessary imitations of humanity whose service would be easily replaced by mister goddamn Handys.

I honestly think Emil and the rest of Bethesda's writers want to make movies. Fallout 3 certainly feels like a Hollywood adaptation with how much it gets wrong and simplifies beyond absurdity. Thus, both games have extremely simple stories and gameplay, for the "cinematic" blockbuster experience. The "Modified FEV" vial probably came about last minute.

Bethesda's said they're waiting for the right script to come along. They're just waiting for a Fallout 3 or 4 movie, but nobody's stupid enough to want to make that instead of the other games.
>>
>>153605598

You know the actors he listed were active *outside* of video games, right Anon? You keep listing reasons why Fallout 1 shouldn't have been able to afford them.
>>
>>153608952
This whole post sums up my feelings pretty accurately, kudos.

>I honestly think Emil and the rest of Bethesda's writers want to make movies
I had the same thought the second and subsequent playthroughs of 3.

I can't say the same about 4, but that's because I've only managed one playthrough on a pirated copy shortly after release.
The definitely went even more "theme park" in design with 4, I can say that for certain.
The world feels wrong, designed to be a spectacle, rather than a coherent world.

>Bethesda's said they're waiting for the right script to come along.

I'd also like to add that rather than movies, they should just license someone, maybe whoever did All Roads, to make comics maybe even a cartoon based around characters not in-game, occasionally having side characters like Chet, named Paladin's, the folks form Underworld, etc. and the rare, if ever, mention of player characters.
There's a giant world built here and not expanding it through lengthy media not fucking movies, as they're too short is damn near criminal and a lot of waste.

I'd buy every copy, I'd watch the shows, buy the figures.
There's a giant market aspect of the series that they're wasting because everyone but Bethesda does Fallout better.

While as much as I appreciate the sheer variety of the ammo types, I feel as if this is undermined in-game because

1) Normal ammo types are far more common than "discount" ammunition like .38, .223, .44 special, bulk ammo. Which don't even spawn outside merchant inventories.
2) Enemies all use the basic ammo types. Excluding the Marked Men in the Courier's Mile, Dry Wells and Long 15. This problem contributes to the first point.

>Baton Rouge: Independent city states and tribes who refuse to acknowledge New Dixie
>Knights of the Burnt Cross; Based on a reimagined KKK who bear an ideology more representative of what happened in the Fallout universe. Stalwart anti communists and anti Oriental tendencies. Currently reside in Memphis after being driven out by New Dixie
>Damballah, Haitian voodou inspired tribals who are marching en mass across southern Alabama; scorching the earth and killing any opposition
>Game based on creating and severing allegiances. The player must recruit or hinder other factions in order to aid their respective factions war effort.

I honestly think all their lore fuckups just come from honest mistakes rather than intentionally changing shit to spite the originals. Certainly no excuse given how large some of their errors are but eh, just a shame they refuse to actually own up to these mistakes when they get called out on them.

I would rather have them come back under Lanius at the helm and remain like the guys everyone else despises but you can join them
>>
>>153624986
ok I guess.
There's nothing wrong with the legion returning.
I mean, they're already established as a massive force that controls good portions of Utah, Colorado, Arizona and New Mexico.

But like the other guy said; not at the expense of losing everything about the faction and making it more "friendly". Like the BoS in 3.

Honestly, I'd hate it, because it would it just go and confirm the canon ending of New Vegas. No Caesar and No Lanius confirms this. I would like to see a fringe state covered like Texas, because the Legion could be mentioned (or even involved) without compromising too much.
>>
>>153625347
A Bethesda retcon of the Legion doesn't seem that unlikely, they'll want to cash in with the nostalgia demographic

I disagree, as far as I'm aware the Brotherhood's mission is to confiscate technology that could be harmful to humanity as a whole if it fell into the wrong hands, this in mind they have no reason to take auto-docs or other devices intended for helping people. Well if were posting game ideas i have one.
I'm thinking of making into a New Vegas mod one day.

Fallout Winter

>Set in Minnesota.
>It was one of the most targeted states due to just how many nukes there were.
>Because of this most civilized people live underground, while the surface is mostly controlled by tribals and raiders.
>That is until 2281 when the remnants of the Desert Rangers settled there.
>They quickly went to war with the Shaman tribe.
>To add to all of this in 2282 an underground faction called The Academy of England emerged to join the conflict.
>At the same time many citizens of the underground are against all of these factions trying to take control over Minnesota, so they band together to form the Underground.
>It is now 2290
>You are the Frost Walker, and have been captured by a group of slavers and have been put into a pre-war prison that has been converted into a slave prison.
>Through a series of quest you manage to escape with the help of some Rangers and are now free.

While Sunset Sarsaparilla is perfectly safe, a recent independent study - whose validity is currently being challenged - revealed the following:
Excessive ingestion of sarsaparilla can lead to deleterious effects including, but not limited to:
kidney damage,
nausea,
digital numbness,
anxiety,
loss of visual acuity,
dizziness, 13
occasional nosebleeds,
joint inflammation,
tooth decay,
sore throat,
bronchitis,
organ rupture,
and halitosis.
Note that you'd have to drink a heap of Sunset Sarsaparilla to match the quantities used in the study. How much, you ask?
A lot. A whole helluva lot. In fact, you'd have to get full as a tick on Sunset Sarsaparilla to even come close.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by, partner! And keep drinking Sunset Sarsaparilla!

You get so much fucking unarmed training if you have low unarmed it's ridiculous and they suck ass early game anyways. Maybe I can use small guns until then? Also should I have 4 or 6 Luck? Can always raise it to 6 via the Zeta Scan for the Better Criticals Perk.

Melee weapons and small guns are more viable early game.

Sounds good. Also how good are the Unarmed skills? I know they don't compare to the Power Fists of course but I want to know if they are at least viable.
>Melee weapons and small guns are more viable early game.
Cool, I think I will go with small guns then even though the game already gives you shitload of training with that skill already. At lest with guns they won't become obsolete unlike melee weapons and I can use it if I need some range.

You mean weapons? The Brass Knuckles and Spiked Knuckles aren't very good for what they are. Most guns will be hitting for more damage. Also, if you're eventually going to pick up unarmed, I'd recommend taking the bonus move perk sometime.
And when you get to using unarmed, target crotches, knocks people down then start smashing eyes and heads.

To be honest I don't have much experience using the upper end ones.
But they're built into the perk and do have level and skill requirements, so you'll get them eventually. You should have the agility and strength reqs met, and you should be raising your primary combat skill to around 150.

>>153674569
Been using the Holorifle. Just got Laser Commander and went to try it out with a LAER, in slightly low condition. I was pretty disappointed because my Holorifle could kill Nightstalkers on Very Hard in 2 headshots, but the LAER I was using seemed to do very little damage in comparison. I'm all about saving ammo, and the LAER can fire a lot faster, so it just seems like I'm using more MF cells for less damage.

Lol, he made a typo, but it's not too hard to see what he's saying.

He's saying the type of person he described would more likely argue with and try to belittle a fellow fan of Fallout over which game is better, specifically Bethesda's games being the worse and bring a lot of animosity with it. Basically something you'd expect from a diehard classic Fallout fan.

I've seen how viscous people get over Bethesda games and it is a little sad. I think they're worse for sure, but they're just games, and their fans may have low standards, but they just enjoying playing some video games. It's a shame, but it's hard for something to remain good forever, what with Fallout changing hands especially.

I do think that this group of fans (/cfog/) is actually pretty full of nice people. I know what he means though. As for his point, I don't know why he brought it up. It's pretty irrelevant and it's best we stay away from stuff like that.

That's nice of the writers I guess. Some of the DLCs pretty much prove Bethesda is capable of doing solid work when they bother, and not garbage like the base game.

Does anyone have the infiltrator rips from VGU that is in the pastebin. The link doesnt work anymore
>>
>>153687373
Still waiting for someone to have it, it seems no one here does.
>>
>>153687698
Just gotta put the word out, ya know.
>>
>>153687816
Of course.

Hopefully someone has a backup somewhere and is kind enough to relay it to us.
I'd really like to fill out the pastebin more.

I don't think a lot of anons that participate in shitting on Beth go a little overboard but for the most part I'm sure the guy that makes those threads is baiting

>What le went wrong :^)
>Shitting on bethesda ensues
>Lone post with generic bait Ex:Fallout 4 is better, who even needs longer dialogue, read a book nerds :^)

Who are you fighting? It looks like a caravan group, but why are they hostile?

Can someone petition the chink who runs this site and let him know literally every other imageboard website allows webms with sound?
>>
>>153689691
>>153689741
Oh okay, I'm on my first playthrough without Wild Wasteland right now. Explains why I've never seen them

I'm at Higgs Village right now and I thought my game was bugged because Stripe, the tiny Deathclaw, didn't appear this time.

Does Birds of a Feather fail if Cass was killed prior?
>>
>>153690136
/wsg/ allows for sound webms, link from there
>>
>>153688658
Stop that! You'll damage the hull!
>>
>>153690209
Stripe only shows up with Wild Wasteland active. Mercenaries in question are just north of Horowitz farm in the Mojave.
>>
>>153688495
I can't explain why, but FO1/FO2 Robobrains are cooler to me than the FNV ones are. I don't fucking know why. They're the same design.
