Why do people prefer Oldschool Runescape over the newer versions? Did it used to be less freemium or something?
I'm asking this question because I think I'll start playing it again and I don't know which one I should play, and I'm also legitimately curious because I played it for the first time in 2010 and this oldschool version is from 2007.

Well, I just wanna play the less freemium version (I remember that when I played in 2010 you only had access to a really small percentage of the map/quests/skills if you weren't a member).
Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like rs3 has much more content but it really doesn't matter because almost everything is member only.

Last time I did NMZ I used melee and wore full vestment and melee protect and did the rumble mode where I can select my enemies, and just did enemies that only use melee (and not the annoying ones that knock you down or whatever) and brought a bunch of super restores or ppots

I could do that but I'd rather not spend the money and my magic is only 70 so I feel as though it wouldn't be that effective. I'm just curious because doing endurance hard mode (with all but 2 bosses unlocked) I get ~515k points in just over an hour. Nowadays, efficiency and money are the most important things. Non-combat skills are being neglected by a majority of players (with the exception of slayer). And if you dont, youre labeled an autist or q cc tranny by this general.
The community is incredibly toxic and agressive towards anyone and obsessed with "pets".
Pvm is dominated by scrubs that dont have the patience or skills for barrows gloves and fire capes.
Pvp is dominated by retards who constantly try to ddos you for your +1 item or cry if you dont fight "with honor" (whatever that means...).
Reddit and its community play a major role in future updates and qol updates.

Late, but full Dharocks is essential.
Rest of gear is the best you have, barrows gloves, fire/ardy/legends/skillcape, warrior/berserker ring, dragon/primordial boots, torture/fury. No real need for a blessing, but it doesn't hurt.
Do a hard rumble, no customizations so you get more points per boss.
Rock cake to 51, then overload, then flick rapid heal, then overload to max.
For inventory, it largely depends on the bosses you have unlocked from quests you've done. If you get Barrelchest from Great Brain Robbery, Glod from Grim Tales, the DT bosses and RFD bosses, you'll want to bring a few prayer pots/super restores. One of them can drain prayer down to 0, while most just drain to 1. I haven't experimented fully, but I've been getting buy with just 1 dose per 1.2m points.

I have a quest cape, so all bosses unlocked and here's what I prioritize.
Kamil/Karamel because he ice barrages you, drains stats, and prayer.
Elvarg because stat draining. Bring a 1-handed weapon for this, I bring a whip. If you don't you'll get ruined. There's an anti-drag shield there.
Glod because of the intimidate effect where you run away/towards him, and he drains prayer.
Barrelchest because prayer drain.
Roc because the wings knock you back and stun you.
Dad because he'll swing his large stick at you and knock you down.
Agrith Nar/Agrith Na-Na because he'll teleport you around.
Pretty much in that order, too. It's unlikely you'll get Kamil/Karamel, Elvarg, and any other at the same time, but if you do just muddle through it.
No need to prioritize out of danger, but the Dream Mentor bosses are easy and give huge points, from 22k to 74k.

There are some bosses to ignore.
Ignore Damis because his second form drains prayer.
Ignore Tanglefoot, you can only damage him with magic secateurs and it's slow.
Ignore Dagganoth Mother/Gelatinoth Mother because she changes form and it'll go slow.
Don't need to ignore Chronizon, just make sure each of the blast spells weakens him and it's easy.

My stats are also 84/84/84
Not great, takes me about 70-80 minutes to max at at over 1m points. Also spawns can play a huge factor. One time I got the Inadequate 4 times, takes about 30 seconds to kill and gives 74k xp.

Also for inventory, I do 4 overloads, 16 absorptions, whip for elvarg, ice gloves for Fareed/Flambeed, rock cake, gmaul for powerups and then prayer potions.

Holy wrench may or may not be beneficial depending on your prayer level.
It gives an extra prayer point to each dose of potion, so do the math on how many you're bringing, and how many points each dose heals.

Sure, sure.
Knowing each boss and what they do will make your experience much smoother.
Don't forget to set your quick-prayer to rapid heal and flick it every ~30 seconds or so.
It took me a few runs to get down what the optimal inventory setup was, and what to do for each boss.
Also some quick tips, if you get Damis and a zapper spawns, be careful because you don't want the zapper to kill Damis, as it'll turn into his second form and drain your prayer.
In the event that you ignore Damises and Tanglefoots and the others and you end up with 3 of them and are only spawning 1 good boss at a time, use an Ultimate Power when it shows up.
Additionally, use your judgement for using Ultimate Powers in other scenarios. If you have Roc and Kamil at once, you might want to consider if it you have the opportunity. But if they spawn and so does the Inadequacy, you might not want to lose out on 74k points.

Just food for thought, I'm sure you'll do fine.

I use around 1.5 prayer pots for every overload pot with this loadout (berserker & ardy 2 now)

on a 6 overload trip, I made around 325k points at a cost of 9 prayer pots (10k ea or so)
even with the cost of the 24 overload doses (36k points) , that's still like 200k profit

if you have the defense for a ddef & dragon boots, you'll obviously do even better
if you have a better necklace even better. same with barrows gloves

you get significantly better points & xp per hour when dharock'ing, but definitely not bleeding money when using a basic setup

You can tag the bank value to the account asking price. I sold my previous number of accounts through craigslist and eBay. Player auctions takes a (small) percentage of what you make, but if you're looking to make 200 - 400$ they'll get a bigger cut and you have to wait days before you see the money. Craigslist was the easier choice for me. eBay was a bit tricky and they also take a cut of your money.

Input:
6 overloads (36k points)
9 Prayer potions (~90k cash)

Output:
289k points net with overload buyback (325k gross)
With 289k points at herb boxes, can get you around 323k depending on price, leaving you at profit of around 233k after buying prayer potions.
So, I'll take back my comment about bleeding money on prayer pots.

However, Dharocks is superior in every way except that you can't afk it.
70/70/70 isn't terribly grindy to get up to, and it makes NMZ a much better place.

Also, doing more quests will get you more points.

with the pet rock update I don't see the point to cram a whole task in one trip without something like an ely, so I do 2 trips per task, up to 100 kills/trip, drink potion dose every 8-12 kills

rune darts in pipe, waters deaths bloods in pouch

kill supreme then prime then rex

protect ranged and flick piety for supreme
protect mage and hawk eye for prime
protect ranged for rex, also wear the bcp and v skirt instead of arma gear because all spinolyp damage is based off ranged defence

heal with blood blitz on rex and sgs on supreme

brew only for entry when praying mage and tanking supreme

safespot rex near the ladder, ice barrage to freeze him if needed
stay on north side when piping prime

supreme usually spawns before finishing rex, but you're praying range anyway
rex might spawn before finishing prime but he shouldn't aggro if you're standing in the north side
prime usually doesnt spawn before finishing supreme, but he isn't very accurate against you even when you're in melee gear

if needed you can get prime down to low hp and delay killing him until the moment rex spawns to make sure prime doesn't spawn early

crash everyone with low level, without slay helm, using guthans, and/or only camping rex

some stuff can be switched like bandos boots/holy sandals/eternal boots, suffering ring/rotg, dfs/crystal shield/spectral/arcane, 99 range cape/ardy cape/99 pray cape/99 hp cape/fire cape
occult and tsotd aren't really needed but I like them for better healing, you can use sgs or tsotd for killing supreme but tent whip is better

As I said spinolyp damage is based on range defence, so bcp and bandos boots make sense, also give some prayer. You could do higher pray options like pros body or holy sandals, but what's the point with 2 trips/task. Prim boot really arent needed on supreme. Dfs also gives strength bonus on supreme with its high range defence. The boots don't even really matter.

2 sets of potions are plenty if you aren't a shitter and don't need 5 minutes/kill.

2 rellekka tabs and reverting one of them saves space.

You can take soul runes if you want. I definitely will after the new water staff thing comes out with raids.

It's like you actually can't read when I say I do 2 tasks/trip. You don't need +300 pray bonus for that, and having higher defences mean less healing and more dps. The pet rock tip is pretty good, but the rest doesn't really apply to me, and I wouldn't even put the value of a redirect scroll above 5k gp it doesn't fucking matter. Accuracy boosting stuff for ranged against prime makes sense, but not for mage boosts against rex because his defence is garbage. I like keeping hawk eye on without toggling over trying to toggle eagle eye with the pipe.
