Problem is my home computer is too low-spec to run Ark at what I'd consider decent resolution, so for the last year I've played the game once a week in LAN party at a friend of mine's who runs a private one with a cracked Steam account for just the two of us

I used to do this with scorpions. They make up for being slower by being less fragile, less glitchy and poison of course.
Guy on my old pvp server had a flock of absurdly bred compys that were an absolute murder machine but he spent literal weeks to get there

I always thought if you could get a good supply of black pearls secured, Arthropluera could be funny for that kind of thing too. Two broths is the most you'd need to kibble-equivlent tame any Arthro, and they can actually have a solid HP if you invest a bit. Plus, the armor breaking is actually pretty useful, they tear through flak easier and faster than an actual turret does.

But this is exactly what alpha stage is: adding content to the product. Bug fixing and optimization comes in beta. Ark is still in alpha, so take your own conclusions.

That's another one. I love fishing games, spent an huge amount of hours playing Pro Bass Fishing 2003 and Rapala Pro Fishing 2007. And with the grappling hook mechanics added to the game I was really hyped for them.

They've slowed down crazy putting out content since like February (with the last time they visibly tried to do it right by listening to the community was the post-nerf rebalancing) except you could see that they kept working on SotF and Xbox updates a lot.

Scorched Earth looks really, really good, so I'm actually considering getting it.

For those who have it, would you say its worth the $20? Keep in mind that I have a fairly beefy computer so I can kinda brute force my way past the optimization issues.

I just wish it was more actual dinosaurs and less fictional monsters, although as far as I know deserts weren't really prevalent most of pre-history so I'm not sure how many actual dinosaurs actually lived in what we'd call a desert.

Deserts tend to not have many large creatures in them, so something like this mod with a ton of huge dinos isn't realistic at all. But it's still really cool. Most people are angry because it's not upgrades to the Island, the Center or general playability, plus the whole, "Game in Alpha has DLC already". I get where they come from, and somewhat agree, but I'm enjoying it enough to be fine with it, and the desert is pretty fun so far.

Well, I can't really bust them on not adding it to The Island. There is too much content to simply slap into the map without either taking up 1/3rd the island or making it 1/3rd bigger, which I don't think is even possible from a technical standpoint.

And usually I'm pretty pissy about early access games getting DLC, but this seems more like an expansion pack than anything. Ya, the base game should still be priority when it comes to development but this actually seems to have enough content to warrant the price tag.

I'm under the impression that downloading the latest 8gb patch makes it so the only extra thing you need to run a SE server is the executable file and get the desert map to load instead of Island/Center

Maybe it's a wield symbol? From what I've read in the SE faq thread, the mantis can wield any melee weapon but stun rod and chainsaw.
Or it should, apparently. People are reporting crashes when trying to equip it with any weapon.
