In vanilla i would annex Korea, which is always allied to China, and then beat Chinese stacks as they marched into the north Korean border. Kill massive amounts of Chinese brigades and you get enough war score to take his most populous state without even needing to occupy him.

A good 20 brigades with good tech can defeat those stacks.

PDM introduces new factory types that the AI doesn't handle too well.

Mass unemployment on day 1 is typical too, and the economy needs several years to stabilize.

Industry is general a real pain to maintain because there's far too much overproduction since many shit-tier RGOs in Asia will end up having mass unemployment later on because no one demands the goods they produce, and since these large pops don't get any money, they can't but your industrial products and everyone suffers.

Like I said, there's far, FAR too many garbage RGOs in PDM.

It's inferior to HPM in every aspect.

I'm having a lot of fun with Voltaire's Nightmare so far. Learned quite a bit about German history, which is something I knew next to nothing about. I wish the entire map was at this level of detail.

What are fun countries, or countries with a lot of flavour events to play in that mod ? So far I did a Brandenburg game to get a feel of a the mod, and then a Harlingerland -> Magna Frisia game, at first mostly because the flag is cool.

Someone murdered me.

After reading peoples' experience in The Reaper's Due I started a game with major and minor epidemics on highest, Sunset Invasion, Mongol Horde on random, and plagues on random.

Was just ready to have a quick game. Wow, way to fucking underwhelm. It's easy as hell to manage. I think it adds some needed depth and complexity but it's not the gameover-mode I thought it would be.

Conclusion: Don't listen to whiny internet tittybabies. I realize when they were saying it's hard, they were probably referring to something like "it's hard to be autistic about >MUH BORDERGORE LOL >REMOVE KEBAB LOL"

Not until I can restore the monarchy/empire, and even then it would be at the cost of some dissent for no real benefit. I don't have a current game actually, I'm basing this off of a previous attempt I had as Nat. France which I lost the save for (although I'm assuming I can pull off something similar again).

I had probably about 32 MOT divisions split across 8 corps (that or 48 across 12, can't remember for sure) and maybe 2 divisions of 4 MAR, not much else. I was able to secure most of France, including Paris, but Germany seized pretty much everything east of the Seine. It's not about me not having the resources, anon, it's about Germany's IC being three times as great as my own. In the time it would take me to construct sufficient infantry and air support to give me a chance offensively, Germany would have had years to use that IC superiority to maximum effect. The kind of effect where I can't even make a dent in border provinces because there are so many Germans in them.

In this scenario a rapid buildup of allies is as good as my only hope. Reconquering Britain for Canada and installing puppets in Spain and Italy for resources and extra troop support was what I was thinking, and then praying for Russian help from the east. Without it, I don't think I have the slightest chance.

I'm still new to the game but I think the following is how everyone attempts to fuck up China as Japan, at least in the early game. In the late game I just winged it.

I started off by upgrading from irregular infantry and then declaring war on Korea. I advanced my infantry up to the Chinese/Korean border and let China smash its army into mine. When I saw openings I would advance a stack, but I never initiated a battle, and I also didn't progress past Manchuria. I don't remember if I even annexed a state other than Korea in that war, but if I did I annexed Manchuria (which in retrospect seems to be a bad idea because Russia might end up aggroing you - choose a different state to annex). If I didn't, then I declared war on China again when the truce expired and used the strat I outlined above.


After that I continued to build my army and I waited until I westernized to declare another war. I chose to cut China down to size, and I attempted to defeat most of their army. That ended up putting them into a cycle of rebellions that they didn't have the army size to fight, and those rebellions kept canceling their westernization progress. I watched it happen to them at least 3 times. I used these opportunities to "free people" and annex states.

What is the best gov to have in ck2 ?I know primogeniture is a pretty safe pick but tanistry has been working well for me in the game I'm in. Also need to purge Spain of sunnies France is also pretty dead

you see, chasing an army that lost a battle was always tedious because since they have 0 morale, you enter the battle in the chase phase, which has much less damage than the shock phase. so your only option is to have more light cav in your armies. letting the enemy army recover some morale is also a good option, don't immediately chase them, let them recover to 50% morale so you can enter the shock phase.

also, shattered retreat is now cannon in ck2, so balance is going to revolve around it i assume.
